tunes on tuesday 053111

Missed last week, so I'm hoping I caught everything in case you didn't!

Here we go! I have officially updated my iPod, hopefully you will now too!

Lil Wayne--> How to Love
Hopefully that link works forever! It's a lot different than the typical Wayne track. It's slow! I'm not a fan, but it has the ability to grow on me. The words aren't bad!

Matt Nathanson--> Faster

Um, obviously I welcome back any artist from the 90s and early 00s, so helloooo Nathan! I don't think this will be a huge song in top 40, but probably "the mom stations" as I like to call them. I totally dig it, but that's cuz I like this happy stuff, duh.

Mike Posner--> Cheater

I totally don't condone cheating but like... He's got a good point. I like this better than Bow Chicka Wow Wow, less than Cooler Than Me. Does that say enough?

New Boyz ft. Chris Brown--> Better With the Lights Off

I love this one, I really do. New Boyz haven't really struck me as "talented," and they still don't, but I can still get down to this song.

Rye Rye ft. Robyn--> Never Will Be Mine

Hmmm... I don't love this, but I don't hate it. I feel like it needs something else. It has an old school hint to it, but not in an OMG THIS IS AWESOME way.

Tinie Tempah--> Til I'm Gone

Another song that doesn't blow me away, but I don't hate it either. You be the judge? Kthanks.

YC ft. Future--> Racks

I think it's pretty awful, but people are talking about it, which baffles me.

Black Eyed Peas--> Don't Stop the Party

If they're going to have a song called this, coming out in the summer, I'd REALLY hope it'd be better than it is. It's not powerful enough. It's a disappointment and I'm mad about it.

Asher Roth ft. Akon--> Last Man Standing

He's sure come a long way from "I Love College." I can chill with this on, for sure.

Dustin Tavella- We Got the Summer

It started out kinda good, and I had high hopes... but I don't see this blowing up. Hmph.

LEAF ft. Sky Blu [of LMFAO]--> Uh Oh

The fact that someone from LMFAO is in it should tell you it's a good party song, and that, my friends, it is.

Shaggy--> Sugarcane

Candy listeners EXPLODED in good ways over this song, and completely shocked me! I think it's catchy, but it's not something to have me EXPLODE over! Either way, if it brings Mr. Boombastic back into my life, I can't complain.

That's all for today! Country music coming up tomorrow! Enjoy!

youtube channel: "animals just don't give a sh*!"

Apparently I'm a few weeks late in seeing this video, but everyone I talk to about it hasn't seen it, and I obviously have to blame myself.

It. Is. Epic. This boyguy [I think that's a new term I should use for not a boy, not yet a man] narrates National Geographic videos of animals doin' their animal thang! What he says is just... great.

This is the one everyone's been talking about- THE Honey Badger.

If you didn't LOL, let's review some of the quotes, then rewatch it. It's totally one of those that is funnier each time you watch it.
  • "Honey badger don't give a sh*!"
  • "Woah! Watch out! said that bird."
  • "Oh, it's got a cobra, oh it runs backwards?!"
  • "Oh, little does the honey badger know, FYI, it's been stunggg!"
  • "Look at that sleepy f#*k."

SERIOUSLY. HYSTERICAL! Even better: My boss, Big Daddy Downs, started doing the voice and narrating it himself. SO epic!

Over the weekend [somehow we were able to stop quoting THIS video for a couple seconds], we watched all 13 of this guy's animal videos, and they're all hilarious. This one is by far the best, but there are some others that are giving it a run for its money.

"Oh he's looking at me! Oh hi, Sloth!"

"When the Basilisk senses danger, he quickly runs across the w- HAHAHAHA HOLY SH!* LOOK AT THAT LITTLE LIZARD HAHAHAHA!"

They're just all so. good. So put your funny face on and go watch them.

on the racks: rihanna does cosmopolitan

Rihanna has totally won me over again, and because of that, I'm loving that she's on the cover of this month's Cosmopolitan.

She looks GORGEOUS! But "it's what's on the inside" that counts, right? Not entirely true with Rihanna... considering her answer for the kind of men she likes was "hot and hung... but sweet works too!"

The inside of the mag totally works for her, though!

For the boys, here's what she wants in a man-
“I’m turned on to a guy by different things. It could be the way he looks. It could be his intelligence. It’s really a spontaneous thing. I’m open to love but guys should have to earn it because the minute they get it, they want something else. Men are like hunters; they like the chase. So you have to keep them guessing. Actually, I’m like that too. I get bored very quickly. So if someone can make me laugh, that’s the best.”

Okay, so that didn't really tell us anything about who she likes... Welcome to the mind of a women, as if you didn't already know we never know our own types.

I just love her sassiness and realness within this interview! She rocks. Welcome back to my top lady celebs list.

watch: 5000 people lipdub in grand rapids

How do you make people LOVE your city? Shut it down for a day for an internet video.

Okay, maybe that's not the way to people's hearts, but the video they made while shutting everything down will certainly catch the world's eyes! Especially when 5,000 people get together to create one epic lipdub.

That's what they did in Grand Rapids, Michigan last week.

I actually watched the entire thing! There is SO MUCH that happens and so much they planned! They got the police and fire departments involved for goodness sake!

Also: Did you catch the awkwardly tall guy in the beginning? He made me LOL. I also fully enjoyed the politicans singing and having their arms around each other. So presh.

And the HELICOPTER?! Yeah. They just pulled the Trump card.

So, uh, College Station.... Can we work something out or whhaattt?

more advertising to make america look lame

A billboard company in the Netherlands had an open billboard that they wanted to be taken immediately. So what'd they do? They decided to have a male stripper do the dirty work for them.

Okay, he's probably not a professional stripper, but each day they changed it and he had less and less clothing.

I don't know what the outcome was, but I betchya it scared someone! It definitely caught their attention!

Because I do actually wanna see such a thing, I will say this again- American advertisers, step yo' game up!

watch: our joplin relief drive

I apologize for the lack of usual posts this week, but we've been hard at work trying to get some help to Joplin, MO after the tornadoes ripped through there.

If you didn't see on Twitter/Facebook, we took donations from the area and packed three trucks that we're personally driving up to Joplin.

I put this video together that really shows exactly how awesome it was on Tuesday.

The amount of stuff we got donated leaves me speechless. Thanks to all of you who donated items and money, this is truly incredible and I can't be more proud to be a part of it.

The bad parts- We've had SO MANY ISSUES getting the trucks up to Joplin thanks to flat tires, breaking down, etc... But at least one of them has made it there by now!

Check out the progress, pictures, etc. of the journey here.

Thanks again! This is awesome. And thanks for accepting my "slacking" on this blog this week.

stefano's junk was pokin' at the idol finale!

I'm gonna make this short and sweet before bed, but did anyone notice Stefano's bulging package during the top 13's "Born This Way" performance?! GoodNESS! It was right in front of the camera and hard to miss!

youtube channel: the best "it gets better" ever and glee wannabe

Todrick Hall was on American Idol last season. He didn't make the top 12, but I absolutely wanted him to.
Now he's got a YouTube channel that you have to check out. Seriously, if you don't you're missing out BIG TIME.

My favorite video on the entire channel is hands down his "It Gets Better" song and video. A lot of his videos are funny, but this campaign has always touched me, and this has got to be the best video I've seen for it.

I mean... Just.. Wow. Powerful, and amazing, perfect lyrics. I want to play it on my show every day. I need to find a way to make it possible.

Beyond the intensity of that video, he has a dream of being on Glee. Well, not just being on it, but being the token black guy... and he obviously has the pipes and the look to make it! Here's his proof:

Where can I vote to get him on?! I totally hope it works out for him!

And beyond THAT, he likes doing random acts of singing in public places. You all know how I feel about this kind of stuff- it's AWESOME. He also picked one of my favorite places to do it, gathered some friends and cheerleaders, and put on a show I'm jealous I missed out on!

LOVE IT. WANT IT.

He's from Arlington, TX, which is by Dallas, but go figure- Now he's in LA. Maybe if he ever meandered home, we could work together a little, eh?!

Here's to hoping!

live chatting real world las vegas: episode 12!

I'm torn on whether or not we should make this happen tonight [American Idol finale is right before it, duhh!], but I'm going to go ahead and give it a go!

Pretty sure we only have two more episodes of this season, so let's end it strong! Join me for the end of Idol and tonight's episode of the Real World: Las Vegas!

It might kick off earlier than usual because of Idol, so pay attention if you're a fan of both! ;)

watch: the reason i want scotty to win american idol

Tonight's American Idol finale performance show was two things: rather boring, and terribly unfair.

I get that it sucks that Lauren had the whole voice loss thing, and I feel for her big time, and I totally gave her the excuse of "if she was well, she'd be a lot better tonight."

But when they gave her that super emotional and decent song, and gave Scotty one that will work in Country, but is not relate-able to anyone else, that was just unfair. They gave her every benefit they could have given her tonight.

And as if the producers didn't give her the benefits, Scotty deferred his coin toss win to let her go second.

Anyway, that's why I want Scotty to win. They're both incredible singers. They're both going to be successful. [Is that the first time we've ever been able to say that?] I picked Lauren to win during her audition, but Scotty is more ready out of the two, and he's the better person.

Proof? This video that Tim Halperin took of him before they found out their fate in the Top 40.

He's so freakin' down to Earth, and I don't think he'll ever let it get to his head. He has the confidence, the swagger, the talent, and the personality to really make it big, and on top of that- He's a pure gentleman.

I don't think I'll be mad either way tomorrow night, unless it's anger towards the producers... But let's be honest, we've always known they pick favorites.

watch: french commercial proves america is prude... again

As much as I think we're stepping our game up with subtle comments in the news and in commercials, every other country seems to know how to mix sex into anything.

This French commercial teaches you a very valuable lesson:

Imagine hearing that as a ten year old girl. I mean, you definitely start figuring things out in Elementary school these days. [Yeah, it's true.. Sorry parents, but I've had some 4th graders ask some awkward questions.]

Step yo' game up, American advertisers! I want to laugh!

celebrity lookalikes: aaron rodgers and shawn stockman

It's been SO LONG since I've done a celebrity lookalikes post, but they get harder as time goes on, especially if people I'm meeting don't look like celebs!

I was stalking an old friend on Facebook and realized that he's the spitting image of an epic 90s celeb who has made his way back onto the scene via reality shows!

Meet Tarik. AKA Boys II Men's Shawn Stockman's little brother.

I wish I had a good picture of my friend with a hat on, because it just seals the deal, but even that is pretty dead on.

Also, a lot of people have said that my coworker Frito resembles a bald Aaron Rodgers. If you can look past the whole hair thing, they really do look alike!

I think this is a no brainer, but as usual, you need to be the judge! Do these guys look like their doppelgangers, or what?!

Remember- If you think you look like someone, feel free to email me with a picture!! I'd love to post these more often!

watch: your what be yankin?

Hm. This video left me so speechless that I genuinely don't even know how to introduce it to you beyond "make sure it's not blasting if you're at work."

Okay, I'm not sure what "yankin" means, but I'm pretty sure I don't want me hoo-ha to be doin' it.

I asked good ol' Urban Dictionary what it meant, and this is what it gives me:
  • Slang meaning exceptional level of excitement and enjoyment; crankin
  • A term used to refer to a vagina with multiple STDs. Often with visible blisters and/or warts, accompanied usually by a terrible stench.
I mean, the first meaning is perfect, but who actually knows that's what yankin' is?! Especially after watching this song!

Oy. Some people are just..... special.

"What a stunning display of beauty, grace, and elegance. I want this song played at my wedding."

nifty?: pejazzling is now a thing

Oh my dear. Remember when vajazzling was like... the coolest thing since the bikini wax? Well, more than a year later, the truth comes out: Boys are "pejazzling" themselves, too.

Salon owners are confessing that guys are coming in to purchase the jewels for themselves, and putting them on their balls.

They're even going as far as saying that the "iron cross" and "red lips" shapes are the most popular.

Hm. Where do I start? What do I say right now?
How about- BOYS. NO MATTER WHAT. YOUR BALLS WILL NEVER BE SOMETHING ATTRACTIVE. It doesn't matter how many shiny, sparkly things we see down there, we won't think they're pretty.

I really don't even think this is something gay guys would find fun, but if I'm wrong- please let me know!

Dear sweet baby hey-zeus... Please don't ever let me find any kind of sparkles down there.

Ya damn right, John!

It's no secret I'm pretty anti-Gaga, but every once in a while she does something I can get behind.

Last week when she was on Idol, I heard she had "female tools" on her shoes, and now that I've seen them, she just won some much needed plus points.

I wonder what my mom [and/or my boss] would say if I scored me a pair just like this?! Hmmm...

country tunes on tuesday 051711

Howdy Pahtnah! It's time for some new music!
Okay... So I may have gone to happy hour tonight. WHATEVS! Let's get to the point.

Joe Nichols--> Take It Off

It's summertime, take it off! It's about more than clothes, and it's a summer anthem... Just my fave.

Acklen Park--> I love you, I need you

It's your typical cute, lovey dovey, country song... I can't pretend like I don't like these.

Darius Rucker--> I Got Nothin

When this album came out, I blasted this on repeat for hours on end. It's definitely because it was entirely too fitting for a situation I was in, but it's also a great song. Darius will never disappoint, remember that.

Jason Jones--> Ferris Wheel

I can't remember if I posted this before or not, but it's a cute and catchy song. I have a good feeling about it, for sure. Totally love it.

Josh Kelley--> Gone Like That

Not what I was expecting lyrics-wise, but I like it. It's relate-able, and just plain good, typical country.

Also, I couldn't find good, embeddable versions, but check out JT Hodges' "Hunt You Down," Sean Kristopher's "Time Spent" and Shelly Rann's "Hell on Heels!"

That is all! Thank goodness country music saved this week of new music for me.

tunes on tuesday 051711

TUESDAY, TUESDAY, I LOVE YOU, TUESDAY!

New music, you're pretty great, too.

Lady Gaga--> Hair

I mean.... these songs aren't BAD.... they're certainly better than some of the stuff we play, but why is she releasing everything at once?! Seems real dumb to me and my boss. Good luck with airplay, Gaga.

Alex Guadino ft. Kelly Rowland--> What a Feeling

I am way too huge of a fan of Kelly Rowland being featured on songs NOT to love this song. It reminds me a lot of "When Love Takes Over" which is one of my fave dance songs in recent years. I dig it, but I doubt it'll make it, which is a shame.

ChristianTV--> I'm In Love

It's hella catchy, but like his last single, I unfortunately don't think it'll get a lot of airplay. Too many big names are ruling the airwaves, which is a shame, but this doesn't offer anything extra special. It's fun though, and totally worth some of your time.

Hinder--> What Ya Gonna Do?

Well, before they started yelling at me during the chorus, I thought it was a really pretty rock song. It's not TERRIBLE, but it's Hinder. Take it for yourself.

Linkin Park--> Iridescent

Call me crazy, but this is really slow and sad for them! Or maybe I just forget what they're like, who knows. I don't mind it at all, but I don't think I'll play it alone.... That'd be a bit emotional.

Plain White T's--> Boomerang

Meh. Another whatevs song to me. I expect music to be ON ITS GAME during the summer, and this isn't cutting it. Pretty boring.

Ultraviolent Sound--> Girl Talk

It sounds very 80s to me. Again, nothing to make me go OMG [which, I should note, is a big problem considering I may or may not be semi-intoxicated right now...].

Miguel--> Sure Thing

I don't recommend watching the video. It's... not good. I had high hopes for this song at first, but it kinda let me down. Lame.

Guy Sebastian ft. Eve--> Who's That Girl

Well, Eve seems a bit random and weird, but I wouldn't mind having her back in my life. I need a little something more from this song, but it's not BAD....

Dave Patten--> How Good

I'm immediately obsessed with his sound/image combination. Crap. I want him. I can't tell if he'll make it or not, but because I want to see and hear as much of him as possible, I damn well hope so.

And that's that! Not really any big names this week, so we'll see how the newbies can hang! This is DEFINITELY when I need to hear what you do/don't like, so I know what to play on the show!

watch: awesome movie trailer marriage proposal

As much as I pretend to have a mild heart that only desires a sugar daddy, I have a secret- That's not entirely true. One day I want my movie-like life to be something like a love story. Someday.

Imagine sitting in the theater to see a movie, and literally seeing your story on the big screen as your boyfriend proposes to you. It'd be incredible. It was incredible for this couple:

Note to future love of my life: Take notes. Kthanks.

Him running into the theater and taking his sweet ass time might annoy some people, but if I were her, I bet that would be the point where I started laughing/crying at the same time.

nifty website: he'll never never a girlfriend

Because this statement happened on Khloe and Lamar the other week, I'd like to think that was the inspiration, but it's doubtful. That's irrelevant, though.. This website is one of the funniest meme sites I've seen in a while.

Welcome to my life, hewillneverhavbeagirlfriend.com!
