watch etv: making drake's "hotline bling" video better

Drake put out his rather boring and "Dad Dancey" video for "Hotline Bling" last night and I immediately knew he needed the help of my fantastic White Girl Dance skills.

You're welcome, Drake.

And damn does it feel good to be able to get some quick creativity going.

watch: lonely island's latest is "go kindergarten"

Don't you worry about SNL not being in season... The Lonely Island don't need no SNL! All they need is a Diddy cameo and Robyn to sing a hook about doing everything they say.

AKA "Indiana Jones and whip your dick out."

LOL WTF! Can I just please be in the room when they're brainstorming on lyrics for these songs?!

I really have no other words for it than that wish.

the number one songs on election day, since 1992

While I'm waiting for the results of today's election, I was looking back at the number one songs of this special day in years past. Let's reminisce, shall we?

TODAY: Maroon 5- One More Night

2008: T.I.- Whatever You Like

2004: Usher/Alicia Keys- My Boo [I'm glad she's hitting the O in the screenshot....]

2000: Creed- Arms Wide Open [Shoulda been the first sign we were gonna make a bad decision]

1996: Blackstreet- No Diggity

1992: Boys II Men- End of the Road

I mean really, the only questionable song on that list is Creed, and we all know where that election led us.

That shall end my political talk forever.

Here's to a night of celebrating the end of political ads, drinking too much, playing on Twitter, and a happy ending!

song/video i'm loving: carrie underwood's "good girl"

A lot of times when I hear a song, it takes a couple listens to REALLY fall in love with it, but it is totally not the case with Carrie Underwood's latest.

Her latest song "Good Girl" is fun, girl-power, poppy-country and it's been on repeat for a couple days. Now that I've seen the video and her hottness along with it, it's game over for other songs in my car right now.

Here's a behind the scenes vid from the shoot:

How someone like T-Swift can beat her for entertainer of the year baffles me. And I don't think it's just because I'm a hater.

watch/listen: the cranberries' new music video "tomorrow"

The Cranberries have jumped on the bandwagon of helping us try to bring back all-things-90s. Here's there brand new song "Tomorrow."

At first listen, it's certainly nothing like their classics, but her voice has not changed a bit, so it's absolutely enjoyable and soothing.

Do you think that maybe we aren't used to sounds like this so that's why when they come back they're "not as good," or are they really a let-down?

tunes on tuesday 011012

It's time for the first Tunes on Tuesday of 2012! You ready for some new music now that the artists will be stepping up their game again?

Foster the People--> Don't Stop

It's very consistent with their sound, and I'm pretty sure this song is on a commercial, right? I like it better than "Pumped Up Kicks" to be honest.

Kelly Clarkson--> Stronger

Also in a commercial! I love this song, though. It's very reminiscent of old K-Clark and a lot of fun and powerful.

Ali Lee--> Keep It Right There

It's fun, but I don't see it being huge. Then again, I could be wrong. It is a new year, time for new peeps?

Adam Lambert--> Better Than I Know Myself

It's probably my favorite, or one of, when it comes to Adam Lambert. It's definitely catchy, and his fans are behind it pushing hard.

Demi Lovato--> Give Your Heart a Break

When I tested this on air, people loved it! Even anti-Demi people said it was catchy, and I agree! It's definitely the same pop-y sound, but I've always liked that. I guess that's when I show my girl-side.

Dev ft. Enrique Iglesias--> Naked

I like the build up in the beginning, and overall it's a fun song, but I don't think it'll be as big as either of their others.

Flo Rida--> Wild Ones

I think I like all of Flo Rida's songs, but the girl singing the hook has a really pretty voice. I enjoy.

Graffiti6--> Free

It's a very soothing song, that's for sure. I don't know how it'll fit with all of the other songs on the radio, but I really don't mind having it on.

Lil Wayne ft. Bruno Mars--> Mirror

It's a great, meaningful song.. but hott damn, it's slow. Too slow.

Train--> Drive By

If you like Train, you'll like this song. It's cheesy, but it's catchy and fun and cute.

And the one everyone has been talking about this week, Jay Z's adorable song for baby Blue Ivy, "Glory."

Since I haven't been able to catch ya up in a couple weeks, there's definitely a lot! Enjoy!

watch: britney spears' video for "criminal" is pure, amazing sex

If you have a dumb excuse for not seeing Britney's video for "Criminal" yet, you need to chill out and give up and watch it. Don't worry, I won't tell anyone that you're giving in.

A storyline! A gun! A slap! A SEX SCENE! A HOTT, NAKED BRITNEY SPEARS!!!

Her eyes look happy again, she doesn't seem to be holding back at all, and I'm absolutely obsessed. Let's watch it again.

watch: lance bass' boy band's single "facebook official" is awful

Oh dear. When I heard Lance Bass was putting together a boy band, I was excited. Now that I see the result, I want to cry.

He could have put something awesome together... Instead, he formed "Heart2Heart" and gave them "Facebook Official" as their first single.

They were also gifted with amazing looks.............

Such QUALITY lyrics...
  • 'Heart2Heart is back/ FB chat poppin’ on my Mac.'
  • 'C’mon/ Myspace is dead/ I’m checking your page to see what you said.'
  • 'Heart on your page/Heart, heart on your page/let’s make it official.'
  • 'Can you confirm this request/Agree to my terms of service.'
  • 'Status update/what/checking pics of your butt.'
Oofff.. At least it's entertaining... kinda.... right?

tunes on tuesday 101111

Tuesdays creep up on me these days, but I didn't forget this time!

How 'bout some new music!

Anjulie--> Brand New Bitch

I kinda really love this one. I normally like girl anthems, so maybe that's no surprise, but it's upbeat and fun for fall. Listeners disagreed, but what do they know anyway?! [Sorry, I didn't mean that.......]

The Cab--> Bad

BEAUTIFUL song! I love it. I may have had low expectations, but that's beside the point. It's good.

Avril Lavigne--> Wish You Were Here

She has stayed pretty close to her typical sound even after so much time off, and I think it's still going to work.

Outasight--> Tonight is the Night

Listeners seemed to like it. It's got a fun beat, and it's definitely likable, just not my favorite.

I won't waste your time with:
  • We the Kings- Say You Like Me
  • Mayra- Freak Like Me
  • Evanescence- My Heart is Broken

And that's that for this week! I think it's obvious which way this fall/winter will go music wise based on these releases, eh?!

90s music video: mr boombastic

Random choice for today- from 1995, Shaggy's "Boombastic."

Who knew it was cool for the boys to let their belly button peak out back then too?! I'm glad that AND the big, way too baggy clothes have faded... for now.

90s music video: tubthumping

Since I don't get to do the 90s Dance Party on my show every day anymore, I need a new daily 90s fix. Bad.

Back then, I didn't have time to watch music videos, even though they were actually being shown on TV a lot more than today... so why not reminisce and see videos I've never seen before at the same time?!

Every day I'll post a 90s music video that may or may not have something to do with life.

Today, my computer crashed yet again. I'm trying to stay patient. This song just might help me.

Chumbawumba- Tubthumping.

Well, that was a little weird. It's a good thing the song makes me wanna party because the video mostly makes me feel uncomfortable.

What's your favorite music video from the 90s? Let me know, I love suggestions!

watch: "pop-up video" is back with "til the world ends!"

AHHHH! SO EXCITING!

We've known "Pop-Up Video" was coming back to VH1, but almost a month before the debut, they've already put their magic on Britney's VMA winning video for "Til the World Ends!"

"Brit doesn't like fecal matter." BAHAHA. You win again, Pop-Up Video. Welcome back.

tunes on tuesday 072611

Happy Tuesday! Let's hop to it!

Alexandra Stan--> Mr. Saxobeat

I assume this will really take off as one of the house/international songs that we in radio have to jump on board with. I'm not a huge fan, but I'll have to get used to it.

Candyman 187 ft. Snoop Dogg--> High Off the Fame

Also not my favorite song I've ever heard. I don't think it'll become huge, but you'll probably hear it around.

Gavin Degraw--> Not Over You

I love it, but I'm a fan of this kind of music, and definitely of Gavin. I'm glad he's back, and I could totally listen to this song over and over again!

Lady Gaga--> You and I

I like that she's switching up her sound a bit, and I can definitely appreciate this song. I know, it's crazy. She shot the video in Nebraska, which also adds a hint of I'm-okay-with-this. We shall see how it does...

Patrick Stump ft. Lupe Fiasco--> This City

I for sure enjoy a song that shows city-spirit, no matter where you're from. I love the sound of this song, and I think it could do pretty well as a single. I dig him and his voice and his song.

Rihanna--> Cheers

I love the weekend-anthem theme, obviously, but what's with the Avril chime-ins for "yeahyeah"? A lot of things throw me off, but as a whole, it's kinda fun.... kinda.

Simple Plan ft. Natasha Bedingfield--> Jet Lag

I heard this in a store the other day and wondered who the relatively familiar sound was. At first I thought it was a little cheesy, but it grew on me quick. I enjoy.

The only new country music available on YouTube as of now:

Justin Moore--> Bait a Hook

Sorry I don't have more Country, but enjoy!

tunes on [wednesday] 062211

I'm not even going to lie... Yesterday was so crazy I completely blanked on the fact that it was Tuesday. Sorrryyy...

New music, anndddd GO!

David Guetta ft. Ludacris and Taio Cruz--> Little Bad Girl

Let's DANCE! David Guetta definitely knows how to get people moving, and this is another good one for that.

Ian Carey ft. Snoop Dogg and Bobby Anthony--> Last Night

Oh, hello lyrics that I needed last Friday morning. Who likes to party? Listen to this.

The Script--> Nothing

I like this because it's not the same song they've put out 3 times in a row. Still pretty, still good lyrics, but more refreshing. I also fully enjoy that they say mates.

Eminem ft. Bruno Mars--> Lighters

Probably my favorite Eminem song in a while, at least at first listen. I don't know if it's because of Bruno or what, but I like the change in pace and the collabo.

All Time Low--> Feel Like Dancin

They're fun. The video is funny. The song is fun. I dig it. The end.

Far East Movement--> So What?

All of their songs are pretty different. That's fun. I can't decide if I love or hate this one. I need you to be the judge.

Adele--> Someone Like You

Welcome Adele, ladies and gentlemen... Bringing a refreshing talent to radios. It's beautiful.

Bruno Mars--> Marry You

This is cute. I'm glad he's fairly different song to song, too. It's always simple, but it works!

Flo Rida--> Turn Around

Typical Flo Rida song. It's a dance track, it's enjoyable, but I don't notice anything being sampled for once. [At least, nothing I know...]

Natasha Bedingfield--> Weightless

I do enjoy a good Natasha Bedingfield song, but this doesn't scream top-of-the-charts to me. Let me know if you disagree!

That's all for now! Enjoy!

watch: tim halperin's music video for "the last song"

Remember that time I discovered Tim Halperin on BuzzFeed and then a beautiful relationship happened? Yeah. Me too.

It's been about a year I feel, and now he's throwing out his next music video for his latest single "The Last Song!"

I LOVE the song, of course, but what I love even more- all of the money to make this video was raised.

This is what he said to me about it-
"The funding for the video came from fan donations, and I think the creativity/cinematic quality of the video will take it a long way. I think this video demonstrates the power of independent collaboration, apart from a major label or American Idol."

Without further ado, I'll let it prove this to you on its own-

He's insanely creative and talented, and like I told him- I'm so excited to see what happens once the Idol restraints are lifted.

Hopefully we'll have a surprise for everyone in College Station soon! ;)
Also.. Hopefully I can be his video girl some day... I think I could be pretty great at it, just sayin.

tunes on tuesday 051711

TUESDAY, TUESDAY, I LOVE YOU, TUESDAY!

New music, you're pretty great, too.

Lady Gaga--> Hair

I mean.... these songs aren't BAD.... they're certainly better than some of the stuff we play, but why is she releasing everything at once?! Seems real dumb to me and my boss. Good luck with airplay, Gaga.

Alex Guadino ft. Kelly Rowland--> What a Feeling

I am way too huge of a fan of Kelly Rowland being featured on songs NOT to love this song. It reminds me a lot of "When Love Takes Over" which is one of my fave dance songs in recent years. I dig it, but I doubt it'll make it, which is a shame.

ChristianTV--> I'm In Love

It's hella catchy, but like his last single, I unfortunately don't think it'll get a lot of airplay. Too many big names are ruling the airwaves, which is a shame, but this doesn't offer anything extra special. It's fun though, and totally worth some of your time.

Hinder--> What Ya Gonna Do?

Well, before they started yelling at me during the chorus, I thought it was a really pretty rock song. It's not TERRIBLE, but it's Hinder. Take it for yourself.

Linkin Park--> Iridescent

Call me crazy, but this is really slow and sad for them! Or maybe I just forget what they're like, who knows. I don't mind it at all, but I don't think I'll play it alone.... That'd be a bit emotional.

Plain White T's--> Boomerang

Meh. Another whatevs song to me. I expect music to be ON ITS GAME during the summer, and this isn't cutting it. Pretty boring.

Ultraviolent Sound--> Girl Talk

It sounds very 80s to me. Again, nothing to make me go OMG [which, I should note, is a big problem considering I may or may not be semi-intoxicated right now...].

Miguel--> Sure Thing

I don't recommend watching the video. It's... not good. I had high hopes for this song at first, but it kinda let me down. Lame.

Guy Sebastian ft. Eve--> Who's That Girl

Well, Eve seems a bit random and weird, but I wouldn't mind having her back in my life. I need a little something more from this song, but it's not BAD....

Dave Patten--> How Good

I'm immediately obsessed with his sound/image combination. Crap. I want him. I can't tell if he'll make it or not, but because I want to see and hear as much of him as possible, I damn well hope so.

And that's that! Not really any big names this week, so we'll see how the newbies can hang! This is DEFINITELY when I need to hear what you do/don't like, so I know what to play on the show!

tunes on tuesday 051011

Holy crap. I'm looking at this list of new music for today and it's longer than I've seen it all year, I feel like! And BIG NAMES, too!

Here we go!

Iyaz ft. Travie McCoy--> Pretty Girls [Hopefully this stays embeddable..]

It's real cheesy, and borderline too much, but it's catchy and has a cute beat, if that's possible.

Cobra Starship--> You Make Me Feel

I like Cobra Starship. This isn't their best song and I'm not CRAZY about it, but I can listen to it.

Lady Gaga--> Edge of Glory

This is probably the first Gaga song I haven't wanted to punch my ears out while listening to it, but maybe I was just in a good mood... Or maybe it was the hint of "Full House" theme in it.

Jason Derulo--> Don't Wanna Go Home

After seeing him nakey yesterday, I could like anything he does. This is very not original. Nothing about it is new. Yet I'm sure it'll be way too big.

Steven Tyler--> Feels So Good

It's Steven Tyler, he still sounds good, but he's very poppy with this. Reminds me a lot of Kid Rock coming with that Summertime song.

Gorilla Zoe ft. Lil Jon--> Twisted

This could be a pretty big club banger. It's got a good dance beat, and Lil Jon, so that's where it belongs. In the club.

Enrique Iglesias ft. Usher--> Dirty Dancer

Usher+Enrique+the summertime?! They know their calculus. It's not the best song ever, but unfortunately the variables are choosing everything these days. I do love every bit of Usher on this, though.

Jordin Sparks--> I Am Woman

Call me crazy, but I think this is too big for her. It's really not bad, but when I think Jordin Sparks, this is definitely not what comes to mind. I'm confused.

Nicole Scherzinger ft. 50 Cent--> Right There

At first I was upset with the whole exotic sound she's going for in this one, but then I totally loved the lyrics. They're fierce and fun, and that I can get down to.

I feel like I'm real bipolar with my music tonight, and I apologize for that.

New country music to follow!

tunes on tuesday 050311

HOLLAAA! It's TUESDAY!

The goods:

Rihanna--> California King Bed

If you haven't heard this yet, you've been hiding under a rock. You'll probably be hearing it on the radio a lot more now, though. It's beautiful.

Jackson Harris--> Long Story Short

It was a little cheesy for me at first, but who am I kidding?! I LOVE cheesy/catchy songs! Plus- he's cute and has a good voice!

Kelly Rowland ft. Lil Wayne--> Motivation

She looks hott and her voice is hella seductive. I wish she'd come out with a radio banger, but I don't think this will do it for her... in top 40, anyway. Either way, it's a good sexual song to have. ;)

Mac Miller--> Knock Knock

People have been talkin about this kid "getting ready to blow up" for a while, so here's his chance. I'm not blown away, but he definitely has talent, and he'll definitely be someone to keep an eye on. As the song goes on, I like it more.

Owl City--> Deer in the Headlights

This is only a clip of it, obviously, and normally I'm not a fan of Owl City, but this is upbeat and fun. I definitely won't mind hearing it.

Wish--> Suga Daddy

Umm, LOVE her voice/sound! And love this song. And it should be my theme song, as soon as I find me one of these. This might be my favorite song of the week, seriously.

Train--> Save Me San Francisco

This sounds a lot more like old-school Train than their past few. Again, it's a fun song that I can totally jam to, especially outside at a BBQ or something.

Ciara ft. Usher--> Turn it Up

I can see this being big for the summertime. Don't call it a comeback, Ciara.

Freshmen--> Hello There

Interesting. I feel like I shouldn't like this because I'll be a hypocrite for disliking other songs, but like... I LOVE SUMMER SONGS! Yes, yes, yes!

Decide for yourself:

Hollywood Undead--> Coming Back Down

I'm iffy about this one. It's weird. It doesn't sound like something that should be played on air, it sounds very underground.

Avril Lavigne--> Smile

It's pretty old-school Avril, but I don't enjoy it. Maybe it'll grow on me.

Dev--> In the Dark

Not a fan of the beat. I bet I'll love it on the dance floor, but I don't love it in my room.

Kerli--> Army of Love

Her voice does NOT match her looks, that's for sure! I like her voice, and I think she has potential, but this song is not selling me.

Click here for this week's new country music!

Enjoy, and I think we can definitely say Happy Summer at this point!

watch/listen: d-why's "crazy world"

I've known D-Why for a few years now [he's a fellow Mountaineer and even won Homecoming King, HOLLA!], he's been featured on my "Local Limelight" about a year ago, but for whatever reason he's bojangled on getting an interview/feature on this site!

He's not bojanglin' when it comes to his hustle, though. I'm pretty proud of him, really.

I was ESPECIALLY proud when I saw this video. It's just really good. ANYONE will like it because even I like this song.. and it takes more than just someone who can spit a rap for me to like their "underground" song. [Yes, even if it's a friend of mine, I'm not going to share their music with you if I think it blows.]

Anyway, check it out! He's gone from Morgantown to NYC and he's KILLIN' IT. Can't wait to see it when he really takes off.

He's a crazy guy who's got a lot to let out into the world. Check out more of his stuff and show him some love! I already saw some people sharing this on Facebook and I have no idea how they know him, but I'll take full credit I'm not mad about it.

watch: another teen girl making a ridiculous song- "my jeans"

EVERYONE is freaking about the hilarity that is Rebecca Black and her song "Friday."

Yeah, it's pretty hysterical once you see what everyone is pointing out, but have you seen Jenna Rose!? How about her song "My Jeans"?!

.....

Let's review.

Some lyrics:
ABC, 123
That girl wore her jeans like me
I bet she's mad
Cuz I look fab
ha ha ha ha
Jack my swag
Sticks and stones
May break my bones
But mine look new
and hers just look so
Ohhh, so ooohhh, so oh

I mean, she's OBVIOUSLY old enough to drive.......... right?!

Is it just me, or is there a resemblance?!

Bring on the gifs for this one! I think it's better than "Friday." Just sayin'.
