download the all boy band throwback thursday mix!

Oooohhh, I just love this. Corey's doing a themed TBT Mix every month starting today... and he kicked it off perfectly: nothing but boy bands.

NSYNC, BSB, 5ive, 98 Degrees, LFO, 2gether... He got them all! So listen to it, download it for free, and play it around all your friends this weekend. No better time for throwback fun than on Labor Day weekend.

But seriously... put it on repeat.

listen: backstreet boys' new song "in a world like this"

OMG OMG OMG Backstreet Boys have a new song from their album that's out July 30! Let's listen!!

*sigh* I hate to say this, but I kinda wish all these boy bands would stop making new music, and just tour with their old stuff. This song isn't bad, but it's really basic. There's no way radio will jump on it.

Boys, Kids, Degrees- Don't tarnish your reputation of having awesome jam songs that girls sing their heart out to by coming out with stuff that's not going to blow anyone away.
Maybe even bigger than that- you're supposed to show these new boy bands how it's done.... so far, you're not doing that with new music.

What do you think? New music is better than nothing, or leave it in the 90s and 00s?

watch: "remember 1999" makes me think it was the best year ever

I always thought 1996 was my most favorite year. One reason: The Magnificent 7.

After watching this here video of everything 1999 included, I'm wondering if I was lying to myself my whole life.
  • Pop princesses really took off
  • "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" debuted
  • Big Daddy and Toy Story came out
  • Napster made getting music so much easier
  • Robin Williams was still effing great
  • Macy Gray, Creed, Lenny Kravitz, and S Club 7 all hit the charts
  • There was an extra girl in Destiny's Child whose name I don't even remember.
  • Saying "so let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel" was totally acceptable
It's a long video, but every second is a nostalgia mind-eff.

And just for fun, some more fun facts about 1999:

  • Cher’s "Believe" is No.1 on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 singles.
  • Backstreet Boys’ Millennium is the biggest selling album of the year.
  • Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez and Eminem release their debut albums.
  • Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace is the highest grossing film of the year (also, the first new Star Wars film since 1983)
  • The Nanny, Home Improvement, Sister, Sister, Mad About You and Melrose Place, all ended their series run.
  • The first Coachella is held. The musical line-up includes Beck, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, The Chemical Brothers, Jurassic 5 and Morrissey.

Ohh, here's to the good ol' days.

listen: 98 degrees' new song "microphone"

Y'all, get ready! 98 Degrees is back with a new single and they're all grown up and ready to talk about SEX!

Okay, they probably talked all about sex in the 90s too, but I was way too innocent to know such things. But like... this song... about "microphones," is a boy band version of Lollipop or Whistle. [It takes 12 seconds to start]

I'm not gonna sit here and tell you it's the best song ever because it's obviously not, but I DO like it! And I think it's better than most people/groups' comeback songs! Plus... it's dirty. Everyone likes a dirty song, even if it seems to be missing a couple lyrics.

Your thoughts?!

watch: nsync does a cover of "that thing you do"

Either my memory has gone to sh!t or I never knew they did this [I'm going to proudly say it's a memory issue since I'd hate to have missed out on this for my whole life 'til now], but way back in the day... NSYNC did a cover of "That Thing You Do!" while on tour.

Fun fact: That Thing You Do is my favorite movie OF ALL TIME. Like easily, hands down.

I think I had a little girl orgasm while watching this just now.

OMG HOW CUTE ARE THEY?! And like, how great?! And OMG GET BACK IN MY LIFE @(#*&$@#!!!!

To the boy bands of today: This is how you be awesome and relevant. Step it up, yo.

the backstreet boys are making a tell-all documentary!

Ohh snap! Time for another super [bittersweet] awesome moment!

[PS Apparently this is older news, and I somehow missed it. I'm embarrassed, but better late than never!]

Since the Backstreet Boys were totally left out of the Package Tour, they're celebrating their 20th anniversary and new album with something more intimate: A documentary all about their rise to fame and what they're doing now!

It'll be another documentary about celebs to hit the theaters, hopefully by this fall!

It's another one of those moments where I'm like super pumped but the inside of me is weeping, struggling to ask "why can't it just be NSYNC?!"

Maybe it's time I admit I was on the wrong team of the boy band battle....

SYKE! Just look at these fools:

I'll see ya in the theaters. You betta believe I'll be there opening night, regardless of my affiliation.

watch: 98 degrees reunites on the today show

OMGGGG THE DAY HAS COME! 98 Degrees reunited on The Today Show and it was even better than I imagined/hoped it would be!

They look just as hott [I really don't know that they aged much at all], sing almost just as well, and are still rockin' the same old moves.

OH!! And, Nick Lachey announced they'll probably be going on tour AND working in the studio on a new album! Hott damn, life is good right about now.

Here's everything you need to see:

Watch for the tongue woman at 1:50 in that one.

Goodness. I was seriously smiling the entire time. THEY looked like they were having so much fun, and I have missed Nick Lachey's voice WAY too much. [I totally still remember every word of every song of his SOLO albums!]

Fans of the "new school" boy bands... THIS is a real boy band. Silly choreography, matching outfits, one ugly duckling among extreme hotties. Yummalicious.

Welcome back, men!

watch: lance bass' boy band's single "facebook official" is awful

Oh dear. When I heard Lance Bass was putting together a boy band, I was excited. Now that I see the result, I want to cry.

He could have put something awesome together... Instead, he formed "Heart2Heart" and gave them "Facebook Official" as their first single.

They were also gifted with amazing looks.............

Such QUALITY lyrics...
  • 'Heart2Heart is back/ FB chat poppin’ on my Mac.'
  • 'C’mon/ Myspace is dead/ I’m checking your page to see what you said.'
  • 'Heart on your page/Heart, heart on your page/let’s make it official.'
  • 'Can you confirm this request/Agree to my terms of service.'
  • 'Status update/what/checking pics of your butt.'
Oofff.. At least it's entertaining... kinda.... right?

flashback: the most ridiculous pictures of boy bands

For my 90s Dance Party hour on Candy 95 today, I did a boy band theme and it absolutely made my day. Apparently it made a lot of other days, too. A TON of people texted in thanking me for turning their day around.

Truth is- The 90s boy bands were amazing and impossible to duplicate. No group will ever be able to do what they all did, especially the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. They're classic.

Also classic: The pictures each boy band took for their albums, magazine shoots, whatever it was they were shooting for. Seriously. Take a look down boy band memory lane:

Backstreet Boys

Looking through the top of your sunglasses=badass, duh.

I mean... Why NOT take a picture all dressed up at a urinal?!

This is Halloween......... right??!...
The cutest little Santas you'll ever see

They say a girl loves a man who loves his stuffed animals...

The diversity here is epic! Different jerseys! Do I spy Texas A&M on Brian?!

On, Nick... You're such a devil with that tight belly shirt.

Showing the boxers elastic+Nick's hair+backwards hat+open shirts=sexiest thing EVER

"AJ... I want you to thrust your junk into my ear a little more. Yeah, there ya go." -Nick

So delicate.

NSYNC

All black, no smiles, a little bit of pleather and see-through sunglasses= SO hard.

Having a sleepover and canoodling with 4 other dudes= not hard.

Them jerry curls are beautiful, Justin. And Lance- we knew you were gay at the first site of this picture.

Well if this doesn't scream amateur photography, I don't know what does... And Lance, you're beautiful.

Dear Justin- YOU'RE SO FREAKING COOL! ALL BOYS WANNA BE LIKE YOU...........

Let's all curl up in an American flag and have Justin bend over in front of us.

It's like Dave Chapelle+Ke$ha+the Titanic...

If there was a poster to represent 90s style, this picture would be involved.

Please, Justin... Hold my head. And remember, everyone- frosted tips= the key to success.

and 98 Degrees

Turtlenecks turn me on

They rocked the all red suit DECADES before Kanye.

Please, PLEASE perform at my bachelorette party, boys.

There's that black pleather and hard look again.

HURRY! Let's drown the ugly member of the group!

Ahhh, the good ol' days. Feels good to reminisce, doesn't it?! I heart the 90s. Thank you, boy bands, for being the heart and soul of my life... right there with pop princesses.
