photo diary: capital pride 2014

FINALLY... I popped my Pride cherry!

For whatever reason, I've never been able to witness one in real life, but I got the special treatment for my cherry popping ceremony! I joined a coworker on stage to help host the festival on Sunday. We introduced some acts, danced on stage, and mingled with all the fabulous guests backstage. While I'm a little sad I didn't get much time to just scope out the people beyond the stage, everything looked amazing from the front.

[Some people were all "OMG THAT SHIRT IS SOOOO NOT OKAY." Um, have you checked out FCKH8.com?!]

I'm new to the Betty Who fandom, but she was awesome. Super nice, super talented, super fun, and super fresh.

[Bonus!: She came into the studio on Tuesday for a performance and very quick Truth or Dare... video to follow soon hopefully.]

Ever since she released her "American Girl" song, I've been waiting for Bonnie McKee to really pop. Hopefully her time is soon... in the meantime, I'll admire her awesome hair.

I was really pumped to see Karmin again. This is now the 4th or 5th time I've been able to talk to them, so it's exciting to have my first artists that actually remember me just by seeing my face. I didn't get any pictures, but it was fun to talk about their new home projects and other things they've been up to.

Also, they put on the best show I've ever seen them do. Nick got so into it, they sounded awesome, it was just really good.

Let me tell you how adorable Rita Ora is in real life. Actually, I don't know how to properly do that... but she was even prettier than I thought! And even though she was running extremely late on time, she stopped to take selfies with fans through the fence and sign some things.

DJ Cassidy- also super nice. Dude knows how to dress and rock some turn tables, too! I've never seen a DJ get up and perform in a concert setting like this. It was certainly interesting, but he had the crowd going the entire time!

People working the event kept thanking me for being there, but that seemed a little weird. Truth is, I wouldn't have missed it for anything. I was thankful they allowed me to work the stage and be in front of so many beautiful people! It's true what all the artists say- it really is one of the most fun crowds you'll ever come across.

Until next year!

the fabulous fashion at lady gaga's concert

Because I work at night, I don't get to experience any of the epic shows that come through the city... BUT.. after seeing what people wore to Ke$ha's show last year [btw I refuse to remove the dollar sign] and seeing examples of little monsters at previous shows, I had to see it for myself.

It took 45 minutes to get to the Verizon Center each way, and I only had 25 minutes to get some videos and dinner, but seeing the people there really is something special and worth experiencing.

[If anyone knows of any secrets to making sure the quality doesn't suck after uploading, holler atchya girl.]

Here's some screenshots

These two had people FREAKING OUT, and rightfully so. Look at homeboy's face to the left. That was everyone as they walked by. They took pics and signed things. Maybe they were someone important and I'm oblivious, who knows.

I thought I went all out for 90s concerts... Pfft. I'm gonna sit my ass down now. Props, Little Monsters.

watch: interview with mike posner and ke$ha performs in hampton roads

This week has been packed full of fun things at work. First I helped a listener video chat with Demi Lovato, and yesterday I got to go to the Mike Posner/Ke$ha concert!

Like I said on What Ya Wearin Wednesday, I freakin' loved the fans that came out to this show. They were dressed fun, and they acted fun. There were glitter bombs everywhere, people dancing like they're Miley, and even grown as people sittin' in the second row.

But before the show began, I got to meet/interview Mike Posner. Walking in, I expected him to be fun, outgoing, etc... All the made up conversations I had in my head to prepare for the interview were of us goofing around. Boy, did I prepare for the wrong interview.

He was super soft spoken, calm, and just a nice guy. It kinda threw a lot of my plans out the window, but I tried to warm him up and make it fun. Turns out, he needs a pop culture lesson.

[Watch out for the quick change of expression after I mention his BFF Justin's antics...]

Genuinely shocked that someone could actually be clueless to Magic Mike. WHERE HAS HE BEEN HIDING?! I had also asked him some other fun questions, but they ended up being pretty boring.

He definitely loosens up when he's on stage and puts on a pretty good show. Unfortunately for him, all the mics stopped working while he was up there... When he came back, he ran all the way back and through the lawn to make up for it.

Though I don't have anything to show for it yet [some people take their time getting pictures up from a big event!], I got to meet Ke$ha! Holy bajeezus. I thought this was gonna be one of those moments where I got star-struck, because she's such a big personality it almost doesn't seem real. Well, she was real.. real freakin' awesome.

She's one of the few people to ever thank us for playing her songs, and genuinely mean it. I also thanked her for being the reason Corey has a beard, because otherwise he'd still be hella awkward looking.

As for her show- AMAZING. I figured it'd be good, but she really puts on a show where you gotta keep watching. Plus- she's so damn sexual about everything, it makes me feel like a prude! Her dancers were also fantastic... so fantastic I felt the need to make some gifs.

Yeah, those are dudes. I thought I had gotten them while doing the splits and ish, but apparently I was way too mesmerized by that point. I did get some good pictures of it, though.. and the whole show:

Her "gaymobile"Mike Posner workin' itWe were SO close!OMG KE$HA!
BLOW!Blue-lipped dude
Bad ass bitchHer dancers for the strip-show song were so fabulous
YAY!Her Santa helper!Lookin' like a hott mess, and it's okay! She loves the eyeballs

[Also: Here's a video from one of her songs!]

I honestly don't think I've ever sat that close during a show. It was a perfect one to get lucky with. [And by lucky I mean one of her record reps helped us out and gave us her tickets.]

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go listen to her whole album again and dance around the room like a D-class stripper.
