Okay, I know I'm a little biased when it comes to boy bands, but the truth is- I missed the NKOTB bandwagon by like two years. I've never had a bias for them.
So, when I tell you that their new song is actually worthy of your time, you should believe me! It's got the credibility of an old school boy band fun vibe, but is also evolving into the new stuff we're playing these days.
Maybe you agree with me, maybe you don't, but I'm on a mission to find out your true opinion here. I have some convincing to do with my bossman, but I don't wanna be wrong about it, so tell me what you think!
Ohhh this show is going to be so good. There better be good seats still available when I order at least 10 of them come Friday morning.
It's time for the first Tunes on Tuesday of 2012! You ready for some new music now that the artists will be stepping up their game again?
Foster the People--> Don't Stop
It's very consistent with their sound, and I'm pretty sure this song is on a commercial, right? I like it better than "Pumped Up Kicks" to be honest.
Kelly Clarkson--> Stronger
Also in a commercial! I love this song, though. It's very reminiscent of old K-Clark and a lot of fun and powerful.
Ali Lee--> Keep It Right There
It's fun, but I don't see it being huge. Then again, I could be wrong. It is a new year, time for new peeps?
Adam Lambert--> Better Than I Know Myself
It's probably my favorite, or one of, when it comes to Adam Lambert. It's definitely catchy, and his fans are behind it pushing hard.
Demi Lovato--> Give Your Heart a Break
When I tested this on air, people loved it! Even anti-Demi people said it was catchy, and I agree! It's definitely the same pop-y sound, but I've always liked that. I guess that's when I show my girl-side.
Dev ft. Enrique Iglesias--> Naked
I like the build up in the beginning, and overall it's a fun song, but I don't think it'll be as big as either of their others.
Flo Rida--> Wild Ones
I think I like all of Flo Rida's songs, but the girl singing the hook has a really pretty voice. I enjoy.
Graffiti6--> Free
It's a very soothing song, that's for sure. I don't know how it'll fit with all of the other songs on the radio, but I really don't mind having it on.
Lil Wayne ft. Bruno Mars--> Mirror
It's a great, meaningful song.. but hott damn, it's slow. Too slow.
Train--> Drive By
If you like Train, you'll like this song. It's cheesy, but it's catchy and fun and cute.
And the one everyone has been talking about this week, Jay Z's adorable song for baby Blue Ivy, "Glory."
Since I haven't been able to catch ya up in a couple weeks, there's definitely a lot! Enjoy!
There hasn't been a whole lot of new music beyond a couple per week, and some Christmas stuff.. but here's a catch up of what's coming soon to your favorite radio station! [Hopefully I haven't posted some of these already. I can't keep track anymore since I do a new song on my show every night!]
Childish Gambino--> Heartbeat
He's different, and I LOVE him on Community and as an actor/comedian in general, so I'm totally rooting for him.
Dev ft. Fabolous--> Kiss My Lips
Drake ft. Nicki Minaj--> Make Me Proud
Ellie Goulding--> Lights
Eva ft. Tyga--> Body on Mine
Mike Posner--> Looks Like Sex
Sean Paul--> She Doesn't Mind
Any that you love or hate? Let me know! I don't think any of them really blew me away after a couple listens.
Well, I'm just going to be real honest here.... As always... I can't concentrate to save a life tonight. SO... I'm just going to list out these songs for you to listen to. K? K. Forgive me.
Completely forgot last week, I'm SORRY! But I'm back on my meds and remembering things so let's holla at some new music!
Young the Giant--> Cough Syrup
It's very Coldplay. It's different, it's chill, it's not my style, but I feel like it could to pretty well. We shall see.
Erin Bowman--> Problem
It's definitely the typical "beginner's pop song." I think she has a lot of potential, and I definitely like it, so we'll see where she runs with it.
Lady Gaga--> Marry the Night
I feel the same about this song as all of her other recent songs. It's meh at first listen, but it could grow on me. I'm sure it'll have to. Listeners love it.
Guinevere--> Crazy Crazy
I would say it's different, but every girl is trying to be different now. I don't mind it, but I don't know if it'll take off.
Freesol ft. JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE--> Role Model
I don't remember if I posted this last time or not, but if you haven't heard this song yet, GET EXCITED. It single-handedly made this post worth your time. Justin Timberlake is rapping, and I love it. So does the rest of the world.
Here are some I didn't wanna waste your time with, but you can look em up if you want: Days Difference- Down With Me Big Time Rush- Music Sounds Better With U Justin Reynolds- Runaway
COUNTRY MUSIC, real quick:
Love and Theft--> Angel Eyes
The Farm--> Home Sweet Home
Gloriana--> [Kissed You] Goodnight
And that's all I got! Lots of new names tonight! Lemme know your thoughts!
NOT FORGETTING! It's time for new music! [But BTW- Every night on my show I premiere a new song... follow @HOTHits1005 to get the new song every day!]
Howie D--> Lie To Me
Yes, Howie from the Backstreet Boys. It's just like most of these guys' songs when they go single. You'll probably like it if you love boy bands, but it's not enough to stand out in my opinion.
Maverik--> All Night
Apparently this dude is a jock on some radio station... and yet it's better than a lot of the trash we get. I guess he does know what it takes to make a good beat, though. Doubt it'll take off [it's not THAT good], but ya never know.
Tinie Tempah--> Pass Out
If there's anything I like this week, it's probably this one. It's typical, but it's what works.
Wiz Khalifa ft. Bruno Mars and Snoop Dogg
I think it's a fun song for college students or anyone who's just young and doesn't give an F. The chorus is an anthem of sorts for it. I was definitely singing along. Woops.
Far East Movement ft. Rye Rye--> Jello
Their songs are always weird to me, and not in the cool LMFAO way. I think it'll grow on me, but I don't love it on first listen.
Chris Brown ft. Kevin McCall--> Strip
Well, I love Chris Brown.. so of course I like this one. Duh. I also like sexy songs, but apparently so does the entire country.
That's really it for tonight! COMPLETELY different line-up than last week's, so hopefully people are feeling a little better about the pop music we have to look forward to if you like the rhythmic stuff more. Maybe.
love, elizabethany
Oh and PS: Here's Justin Bieber's newly released video for "Mistletoe," his cute and dapper Christmas song.
Tuesdays creep up on me these days, but I didn't forget this time!
How 'bout some new music!
Anjulie--> Brand New Bitch
I kinda really love this one. I normally like girl anthems, so maybe that's no surprise, but it's upbeat and fun for fall. Listeners disagreed, but what do they know anyway?! [Sorry, I didn't mean that.......]
The Cab--> Bad
BEAUTIFUL song! I love it. I may have had low expectations, but that's beside the point. It's good.
Avril Lavigne--> Wish You Were Here
She has stayed pretty close to her typical sound even after so much time off, and I think it's still going to work.
Outasight--> Tonight is the Night
Listeners seemed to like it. It's got a fun beat, and it's definitely likable, just not my favorite.
I won't waste your time with:
We the Kings- Say You Like Me
Mayra- Freak Like Me
Evanescence- My Heart is Broken
And that's that for this week! I think it's obvious which way this fall/winter will go music wise based on these releases, eh?!
Somehow I completely forgot to do this post last week! Forgive me! Your girl is still homeless and getting settled in this new town.
Michelle Branch--> Loud Music
It's very Michelle Branch, and for that- I'm not mad. I enjoy her.
Joe Jonas ft. Lil Wayne--> Just in Love
It's not as "bad" as you'd imagine from a JoBro... it's super catchy and very reminiscent of the early 2000s. I don't think it'll hit the top of the charts, but it might be heard quite a bit.
Katy Perry--> The One That Got Away
She's lookin' to shatter records with this album. This is single #6 that has a pretty good chance at #1. Listeners loved it, and I kinda do too.
Bruno Mars--> It Will Rain
It's from the upcoming Twilight movie soo... FAIL. Just kidding. It's alright.
Steve Hott--> Here For You
Cool name, duder. It's a little Daughtry-esque, without the big American Idol name standing behind him. I definitely don't hate it, but I don't know how it'll do.
BoB ft. Lil Wayne--> Strange Clouds
The bass is a little obnoxious, but I like BoB. Maybe it'll sound better on better speakers... or something...
Taio Cruz ft Flo Rida--> Hangover
If I had a hangover and this song came on, I'd throw my stereo out the window old school style. It's fun, it'll definitely be fun to dance to, but heyzeus they're going for the Katy Perry TGIF sound and it's not working for a "Hangover."
It's baacckkkk!!! FINALLY! I think the #1 complaint I get when I go on hiatus is that people don't get their new music. Well, here ya go! I'm makin' it quick without opinions so I can fit more in a little bit of time! Enjoy!
Lil Wayne feat. Bruno Mars- Mirror
Coldplay- Paradise
Enrique Iglesias feat. Pitbull--> I Like How It Feels
Jay Sean ft. Lupe Fiasco--> Say Yeah
Red Hot Chili Peppers--> The Adventures of Raindance Maggie
The Wanted--> I'm Glad You Came
Kelly Clarkson--> Mr. Know It All
Jessie J--> Domino
Demi Lovato ft. Missy Elliott--> All Night Long
And that's a wrap for new Top 40 stuff! What ya likin'? Is it gonna be a good winter of music? Let me know your thoughts!
I assume this will really take off as one of the house/international songs that we in radio have to jump on board with. I'm not a huge fan, but I'll have to get used to it.
Candyman 187 ft. Snoop Dogg--> High Off the Fame
Also not my favorite song I've ever heard. I don't think it'll become huge, but you'll probably hear it around.
Gavin Degraw--> Not Over You
I love it, but I'm a fan of this kind of music, and definitely of Gavin. I'm glad he's back, and I could totally listen to this song over and over again!
Lady Gaga--> You and I
I like that she's switching up her sound a bit, and I can definitely appreciate this song. I know, it's crazy. She shot the video in Nebraska, which also adds a hint of I'm-okay-with-this. We shall see how it does...
Patrick Stump ft. Lupe Fiasco--> This City
I for sure enjoy a song that shows city-spirit, no matter where you're from. I love the sound of this song, and I think it could do pretty well as a single. I dig him and his voice and his song.
Rihanna--> Cheers
I love the weekend-anthem theme, obviously, but what's with the Avril chime-ins for "yeahyeah"? A lot of things throw me off, but as a whole, it's kinda fun.... kinda.
Simple Plan ft. Natasha Bedingfield--> Jet Lag
I heard this in a store the other day and wondered who the relatively familiar sound was. At first I thought it was a little cheesy, but it grew on me quick. I enjoy.
The only new country music available on YouTube as of now:
Javier Colon [winner of The Voice]--> Stitch by Stitch
It's really pop-y sounding, but that's to be expected from the winner of a singing competition, right? I could play it and not be mad about it.
Manika ft. Lil Twist--> Just Can't Let You Go
Check out these youngins! I never say things like this, but I think my favorite part of the song is Lil Twist... Watch out for him.
Mann--> The Mack
Can't remember if I've posted this before or not, but I actually think I did. In case I didn't, give it a listen. My listeners hate the sampling, but I don't mind it.
Tyga ft. Chris Richardson--> Far Away
Ummm, I LOVE that Chris Richardson is on this song! Remember him from American Idol season 6?! Totally rooting for him, and I actually LOVE this song.
Sean Paul ft. Alexis Jordan--> Got 2 Luv Ya
It's definitely a Sean Paul song, but I don't know how much I love the chic's part. Not awful, but I'm not crazy about it.
Marty James--> Just in Time [Summertime]
I'd say it's actually a little late for summertime, and it's not exactly the coolest song ever, but it's not bad either.
Jordan Knight ft. Donnie Wahlberg--> Stingy
Well, that's rude. Going solo but adding one of your bandmates that's not your brother.... Syke, I guess it's not a big deal. It's also probably not going to be a big deal of a song, unfortunately.
Country music coming up next! I like today's mix of songs!
Looks like a dead week in the music world, but I'll share with you the new stuff anyway! I'm running low on time, though, so forgive me for not telling my opinions!
Afrojack--> Take Over Control
Chris Brown ft. Justin Bieber--> Next 2 U
Maroon 5 ft. Christina Aguilera--> Moves Like Jagger
Theory of a Deadman--> Lowlife
Wiz Khalifa--> No Sleep
That's honestly all I have this week! Let me know what ya think!
Because I missed it last week, there is SO MUCH new Country music. Because I don't do Country radio, AND it's way too much for me to comment on, I'm just going to list it all out and have you listen for yourself. BUT! I will put a * next to the ones I love.
