The building is hella hectic as we get ready for Jingle Ball next month... but some of it is fun chaos!
I was finally able to break out the stilts [this is the first time in about a year! People didn't even know I had them... I was embarrassed by that] and we did a fun and quick little lipdub to 5SOS's remake of "What I Like About You."
BTW this is my boss and a face that I really fear every day.
It's not often that you get everyone in one place at one time to work on one thing... and have fun with it. Glad we could make it happen with the quickness!
Tomorrow night, the office is hosting an "open house." Basically, we invite a bunch of people up to the building to eat, drink, get silly, see how everything works, and oh yeah- Maybe gain a little somethin-somethin out of it.
My coworkers over in the interactive department wanted to do a fun video for everyone who comes, and what better way than a funny lipdub to this year's biggest song?!
We jumped on the bandwagon [and other things] and created this hott mess of awesome silliness:
The best parts are definitely the people who know nothing about the song and are completely awkward throughout the video. [If they're reading this, welp... they know who they are, and they should know that they really are the best parts... don't ya agree?!]
It's also fun to see the very different personalities that run around in a radio office. #1 rule to working in one: Know how to have fun, all the time. CHECK!
How do you make people LOVE your city? Shut it down for a day for an internet video.
Okay, maybe that's not the way to people's hearts, but the video they made while shutting everything down will certainly catch the world's eyes! Especially when 5,000 people get together to create one epic lipdub.
That's what they did in Grand Rapids, Michigan last week.
I actually watched the entire thing! There is SO MUCH that happens and so much they planned! They got the police and fire departments involved for goodness sake!
Also: Did you catch the awkwardly tall guy in the beginning? He made me LOL. I also fully enjoyed the politicans singing and having their arms around each other. So presh.
And the HELICOPTER?! Yeah. They just pulled the Trump card.
So, uh, College Station.... Can we work something out or whhaattt?
When I told the world to listen to Candy95 and my 90s Dance Party the day my MTV TJ candidacy was announced, a lot of my fellow TJs tuned in, and every one of them requested the Spice Girls.
This spiked an idea: An MTV TJ/Spice Girls lipdub.
I rounded up the troops from across the country, color coded the script, and had them send in videos. I then crashed my news anchor BFF's house to use his Mac and compiled what I think is a pretty great video.
We had some complications and last minute back-outs, but I'm happy with it.
So meet 13 of your top 20 MTV TJ candidates!:
Thank you to all the TJs for participating! T'was fun! Maybe we can convince Brett from Oz to post this somewhere special... on the TV even?!
It's no secret I'm obsessed with lipdub videos now. I want to do one. Bad. I've even told all my new coworkers that I want to and they seem down for the cause, but we'll have to see how down they really are.
Plus, we need to pick a song.
Anyway, here's the latest one worth your time! I think it incorporates the most people: 900!!!
It may not be the best lipdubbing ever, but it's awesome how many people got involved! I don't think they all know English, anyway! The whole description is definitely in French. [They're in Canada]
Someday soon, my friends... Someday soon I'll make an epic viral video and you'll say "I remember when I didn't believe her..."... Hopefully.
I have no idea the reasoning behind this, besides maybe to get it viral, but the Simpsons decided to join the crazy phenomenon of lip dubbing! Ah!
Instead of the usual intro last night, they swapped it out for this:
Ke$ha is an interesting choice of song, but I obviously don't hate it! It's pretty hilarious.
It also makes me want to do one of these videos even more! I wonder if the peeps over at Candy95 will be down to make one when I get over there... Hmmm... We can only hope!
Yes!! Another lip dub video with 100s of people being involved!
Boston University is the latest to jump on the viral bandwagon we call LipDub. 120 students got together to sing along with the Jackson 5.
I'm a little disappointed in the video quality, but other than that, it's not bad! It's totally hard to tell what's going on throughout the video, but I still love that people can put these together. It takes way more effort than a flash mob!
So bravo, BU! The dance party at the end looked fun, too. Next time please hire a new camera guy... Thanks.
