interview: niall horan talks manchester, tough times, and how his guitar gets him through

Niall Horan [formerly of One Direction but we don't really say that anymore or something] came in to the studio and as expected- it was silly.

Girls had been going nuts on Twitter, getting 1200 RTs in a few hours just to get a pass in.. they were messaging me trying to get his hotel or dinner plans, and one even jumped in front of my moving car to get my attention and win her way in.

Note to anyone ever trying to win: Jumping in front of a moving car is not winning. You will die and lose.

Luckily I didn't kill anyone that day. Or any day, I mean.

He came in to join the Kane Show live, then answer a few more questions with Toby and me. Intern John put him on the spot by asking how you describe what the song "Slow Hands" is about if his girl's dad is asking. It got awkward.

It wasn't nearly as awkward as when one mom blurted out that she had made her daughter, who was there, while listening to R Kelly's album.

Toby and I asked him about the first time he picked up his guitar [it was his brother's but his brother never played], the toughest time in his life [realizing his life would never be normal again] and his thoughts on the event in Manchester earlier this week.

Here's the entiiiiire thing: [The explanation of the song happens at about 5:10, the R Kelly word vomit convo starts at 17:44.]

And a clip of the Manchester convo for easy access. You're welcome.

Being a human who is really good at facial expressions and getting caught in them, I mostly enjoyed this look that I relate to when your boo is telling a completely made up story but you don't wanna interrupt or call them out so you try and keep quiet:

It's fun making little girls scream.* And talking to people who are already a big deal but are kinda starting over again.

the truth behind my sonogram

Hi, I'm Elizabethany. I go to sleep at 3am on an EARLY night. I normally try to sleep til 10, doctor's orders.

Today, I was woken up when my phone came out of silent mode because it thought there was an emergency going on with all of my notifications. Turns out, everyone wanted to congratulate me on my pregnancy thanks to this post.

My GRANDMOTHER got excited. My BEST FRIENDS asked why they didn't know before anyone else. My MOM said "Whose is it?!?!"

..... great, Mom.

I don't know if everyone had a case of the mornings or what but it made me lose my mind a bit.

I'm STILL baffled by how many texts I kept getting throughout the day. The people of the Internet seriously need to check their gullibility levels.

I can promise you I'm not scaring this world with a little EB ANY TIME SOON. No matter how much my family [insanely] begs.

They also hacked into my email, by the way.... sending emails about me dropping MASSIVE deuces. If you wanna see me barge in on the Kane Show, and then discover the emails and read them outloud, skip to 23:00 in this video.

Sigh.

gasparilla 2015: a video and a costume

For five or more years, I've been hearing all about how fun it is to go down to Gasparilla in Tampa. The Kane Show and our iHeart station down there get a big ol' fancy float and it's like a pirate themed Mardi Gras. With my 2015 resolution being all about traveling, it was the perfect time to go down for it.

I was hella obnoxious with a selfie stick/GoPro, and just put together a quick 15 second representation.

And some more screenshots:

That moment when Kane hijacks your camera....

A little look at my outfit

Just having a blasty up top with Kane and his wife.

Meet DJ Goofy Whitekid. The one who always told me about the epicness.

Watching a parade from a boat... Yes please!

Here's a better look at my outfit and the only other guy who got into it as much as me. [You can't see the skull fishnet, but they're legit.]
-corset from Amazon! $17, holla
-fishnet from a Halloween store when they were closing. You never know when you'll need skull fishnet!
-combat boots from Macy's on Black Friday
-skirt and bandana was made from $6 total worth of scrap fabric from JoAnn's.

I picked out a bunch of black, white and red patterns, cut them into strips, and just tied them around a ribbon. Easy!

And now I leave you with a gorgeous sunset in case you're stuck in a cold place like me.

watch etv: the station did a lipdub!

The building is hella hectic as we get ready for Jingle Ball next month... but some of it is fun chaos!

I was finally able to break out the stilts [this is the first time in about a year! People didn't even know I had them... I was embarrassed by that] and we did a fun and quick little lipdub to 5SOS's remake of "What I Like About You."

BTW this is my boss and a face that I really fear every day.

It's not often that you get everyone in one place at one time to work on one thing... and have fun with it. Glad we could make it happen with the quickness!

wearing: baby pink

The Kane Show announced that they were throwing a baby shower for Danni at a casino with Ed Sheeran and I was trying to figure out ways to make my way in. Then... magic happened... my boss demanded that I arrange my schedule so that I could be there yesterday.

Oh.. okay... I'll see what I can do.

It was really awesome. Being in any environment with a bunch of listeners is always my favorite ever [even though two out of the three times someone knew me, it was because of the Real World days], but being around the Kane Show and my new Baltimore team made me feel a part of the fam even more.

Enough words, more pictures... I know.

All of us Z on-air peeps on stage to announce the game.

How gorgeous is she?!

I wish I would have actually pulled out my good camera instead of only using my phone for Instagram... but they are a seriously adorable couple.

Doing big thangs for charity.

Ed was crazy good, and really personable with all the listeners. Videos over he-uh.

People kept telling me to relax, but when I'm in work mode, I'm in it. Pictures x a million! INSTAGRAM. NOW. HASHTAG. @(#$*&@$(*#

But I was genuinely honored to be there for the moment, event, day... and I'm super impressed with my team for making it happen and happen with greatness.

Now some outfit details. I had to go with pink for the baby girl 2.0 Danni's having! I wanted to do 100% pink, but I couldn't find a top in a shade of pink that went with this skirt at all. I'm happy with it.

-skirt and lace tank from TJ Maxx
-necklace from BlueLans
-shoes from Charlotte Russe
-earrings from Forever21

I love that the skirt is longer even if I have it at my rib cage... it's appropriate for anything! And the pleats make it more fancy. Did I mention it was $10?! The entire outfit was under $40. Holler. back.

watch: kane show watches their listeners' sex tapes

The Kane Show is based out of Washington, DC, but is syndicated all over the nation, and I get to say they're the reason I'm in radio. [I interned with them 3 years ago, and they've helped me rocket since then.]

If you don't know about them, first of all- Give them a listen on the iheartradio app, or on their website. Second- Die of laughter when watching this video.

This is hysterical. They had their listeners send in some sex tapes, and they video'd themselves watching them. Getting distracted and disgusted, but watching them... [Don't worry.. it's totally SFW. You won't see the bad stuff!]

Yes, that's real life. People really did send in their tapes, and now I just wish people would send me theirs! Shoot... I wish someone would even send me their version of a sext so I could judge it.

If you want to grow some you-know-what and try me, you know where to send em.

Kane, Erick, Sarah et al- You guys rock my life. This. Is. Awesome.

watch: transformers' bumblebee crash in dc

If you haven't heard or seen this yet, it's time for you to do so.

Transformers 3 is filming in Washington, DC right now and apparently even a closed set won't keep the district po-po's from goin' wherever the F they wanna go.

Optimus Prime won't stop them either.

...But Bumblebee will. And it did. Check out the crazy crash from last night:

Ummm... ouch. And no, that wasn't written into the script, but they might need to figure out a way to work it in. Either that, or they're going to need a twin ASAP.

Speaking of Transformers 3, apparently Erick from The Kane Show is becoming the official stalker for the movie. [I'd say he learned his stalking in DC abilities from the best... AKA me.]

He's been tweeting info and pictures, so follow him if you wanna see, too.

eb flashback: gettin drunk on the kane show

Now that I'm a big girl, I love looking back on my days at the Kane Show as the intern who looked like Jamie Lynn and went by anything from "Breathany" to "Tony Danza."

Two years ago today was probably one of my favorite days ever on the radio.... My 21st Birthday. Kane & gang brought me some Grey Goose and Malibu and had me taking shots at 6 AM. Thankfully my ex-rapper BFF was there in MD to DD.

Listen to some of the podcasts from that ever so fabulous day:

Funny how my life has changed so much in just TWO YEARS. I had NO IDEA I'd take the path I did or be where I am, but I couldn't be more thankful for the choices I made!

I heart reminiscing. Plus- that one makes me laugh every time.
