time's top 10 twitter moments [including me!]

Okay so maybe this only "includes me" if you know me or know the competition, but that means you!

Time made a top ten list for literally everything under the sun... Including Top Ten Twitter Moments of 2010. [Woah. I know I love alliteration, but damn...]

Check out #8:

No joke, I teared up a bit when I saw this. Sure, it has no mention of me, but that's not the point. I'm happy where I am now. It's the fact that I was a part of this thing that they're saying is the #8 thing to happen on this year's biggest social media platform.

And who beat us? People like Kanye West, Conan O'Brien, Justin Bieber, and freakin' Twitter.com itself. I'd say considering who we're up against, #8 is pretty damn good.

Thank you, Time Magazine, for realizing what a groundbreaking competition that was.. And of course thanks to MTV.

the mtv tj finale

What. A. Weekend. You know I went to NYC for the MTV TJ finale, but what you don't know is what all went down. There are tons of pictures and more on EB IRL, but I'll share a quick bit of behind-the-scenes info of the show with you here.

The set of the finale was absolutely incredible. It was a "winter wonderland" of sparkles, as one of the X TJ's said. We walked in to check it out, met Sway, our casting director, publicist, and more, then did an interview with Mashable. We felt special again, to say the least.

They sat us right in front of the stage so we'd be able to experience this with the top 5 as much as possible and I couldn't thank them enough for that. I was flashing "I love you" signs to the five of them throughout the show and constantly yelling to them. I guess I was trying to be the sideline cheerleader or something.

My super-awesome seat came with a cost, though. I had to squeeze and share with Kayki while a cameraman sat right next to us. Plus side: I got a close-up on TV! Make that 6? times I've been on MTV! WOOHOO!

As a former TV news person, I constantly had to read my lines out loud to perfect them, but I always felt weird. Finally, Mr. Cool Guy Sway started practicing his over and over again. It made me feel normal. Then again, he also nailed everything when the show went live. Sometimes my tongue gets jumbled.

I really have no complaints of the show besides that Jose was shown the results before they were announced. They accidentally flashed the results and he saw them, immediately hiding his face. I can't even imagine the feeling he had going through him. Luckily no one else had to find out that way.

Gabi was crowned the first ever TJ as her gorgeous, identical family joined her on stage. I'm SO excited for her! She's going from having no bed to a $100,000 salary. I don't see her forgetting where she came from or having a big head. She's an amazing person and she'll do great interacting with everyone.

X and Dannielle were both awesome, too. I had NO idea how funny Dannielle was, but she had me rollin'. X was the most cool, calm, collected person there. He was introduced first and he was jumpin up and down like he was about to enter the ring. I'm envious of his confidence for sure.

Within ten minutes of the show ending, the five were upstairs doing press interviews, we were being shoved out the door, and half the set was gone. It's pretty incredible how quickly they can tear so much stuff down.

It was also like a cliche analogy to how quick this all came to an end. Or started and happened, even. It was exactly two months from my first call to the top 5 announcement, and it's only been two weeks since then. It's been a very fast blur.

Again, thank you to everyone who helped me do everything I did this summer. I can't say it enough, but I'll stop hassling you about it now.

listen: 8 questions and more with fefe dobson

Challenge 5 [woah... Can't believe we're at the end already!] for MTV TJ was to interview a celebrity of their choosing and report on the interview.

I got FeFe Dobson!

You may remember her from back in 2003 or so with songs like "Take Me Away" and "Bye Bye Boyfriend," but she's back now and seemingly stronger than ever!

I'm totally diggin' her latest song "Ghost!" It's all about getting back at your boyfriend after he cheats on you. Think "Before He Cheats," but a bit less Country and a little more Rock N Pop.

Check out the bad ass video:

She looks hott, her sound is definitely worth some time on the radio, and as much as you want to say it: Don't compare her to Rihanna. She's a girl of her own breed.

I'm really excited about her return! Though she's been doing her fair share of writing and recording, I think she could be releasing some serious hits again in the next couple months.

All that being said, I decided to stick with my usual style of interviewing people. Ask a couple of the music-related questions, then hit the "8 Easy Questions with Elizabethany" segment to get to know more about who Fefe is and what she likes.

She seems cool and definitely seems to be working hard/non-stop! 10 minutes went by so quickly! I had so much more I wanted to ask, but a busy girl's gotta get on her way!

Let's hope I'll be interviewing her again in New York someday... in person! ;)

watch: the flawless escape show

I had every intention of getting this up 24 hours ago, but in case you forgot- All of my pieces of technology pretty much hate me.

Better late than never, yeah?

The show was absolutely INCREDIBLE last night. Over 150 people showed up, and that doesn't include the people we had to turn away because we were over capacity. DJ Get Low AND Flawless Escape put on an amazing show, and the BCS came out to support.

I could not have been a happier girl.

It's not the best video I've ever put together, but it'll do. You can see how awesome it was, and you can always watch the whole show on my Ustream.

Thanks again to EVERYONE. LOVE you!

mtv tj challenge 4! how to help!

I'm still on a bit of a high from last night's success with the Real World New Orleans chat and the Flawless Escape show, but it's time to focus on the next challenge: Getting celebs to follow me, retweet me, and support #EB4MTVTJ.

Before I tell you how you can help, I want to pick a couple people to really focus on and harass for the next few days... That way we're not all over the place. These are my faves on Twitter or people I have a connection with.... And how I think I can reel them in.

  1. @KrisAllen. We both have that fantastic crooked mouth thing going on! I also LOVE American Idol [duh] and love him! We shall send my Twitpic to him as much as possible and remind him of the beauty we would create if we were lovers friends.
  2. @iJustine. She was one of the people who inspired me to create this blog and my videos, she knows my online Florida BF and she's the Mac version of me, or I'm the PC version of her... whichever you look at it. [eBethany/iJustine]
  3. @LaVarArrington. I want a Redskin follower... Bad. He was my first ever jersey, and the reason I LOVED going to the games. He may have become a traitor, but he's back in Washington again!
  4. @TheEllenShow. I'm sure everyone's going to try and get her, but there's no way anyone's a bigger fan of hers than mine. I'm going to prove it. I'll have the most epic of all epic videos up later tonight. In the meantime- keep tweeting her.
  5. @LaurenConrad. I genuinely think she'll be the hardest to get, but I love her. I have to try. I model my look and attitude after her. She's one of my realistic idols. She doesn't follow many people, but she's gotta follow me!
This is all I'm going to say for now. I don't want to be all over the place, I want to stay focused... And these people represent many sides of me.

If you have any other suggestions, send em my way. Tomorrow I may add or delete some of this list... so stay tuned!

Thanks in advance! Your help means the world to me.

dare: ask for friends on my stilts on the street

I love that I was able to combine my latest dare with the current challenge!

Here's the official dare:

What I did: head out to the corner of Texas and University, probably the busiest intersection here, with the sign required.... but the other side included info about Wednesday night's show with Flawless Escape and DJ Get Low! Two of the guys (Scott and A Jae) also joined me!

Dare: COMPLETE! It was totally fun. I'd do it again. I did it for an hour, but when people stopped honking [I tweeted AND Nibs said on air to honk twice if you see me... so that I know who hearts me.] it became boring.

Now speaking of tomorrow's show, can I just say I'm UBER PUMPED?! The guys, myself, Emo Sarah, and all of the BCS has really come together and come through for me to make this a really great, free show for EVERYONE to enjoy! Here are the deets:
  • Where: The Stafford, Downtown Bryan, Texas
  • When: 10:30pm CDT Wednesday, July 14
  • What: DJ Get Low will open the show, I will emcee the entire night, and Flawless Escape will head on stage by 11:30.
  • The ENTIRE event will be broadcast LIVE on Ustream!
  • The first 10 people in the door will get autographed posters.
  • The first 50 people will get Flawless Escape's album FREE.
  • The first 100 people will get free stickers!
  • We will be raffling off a pair of tickets to see DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL at Six Flags!
It's going to be.... awesome. I may even break out my glitter skirt and nail polish for it.

Make sure you're there or tuning in! You WON'T regret it! This band gives one hell of a good show. I've seen video proof. Plus, I wanna meet you!

introducing: flawless escape

Challenge #3 wants me to introduce you to a local band! But not just introduce them to you... They want me to give a band a huge break. Introduce them to the world. Make them HUGE.

I may be new to this town, and I may have been in DC when they gave me this challenge, but with the help of all of you and your suggestions, I found a group of guys that I can believe in!!

I introduce to you- Flawless Escape.

We have a LOT of really awesome things set up for this week, but before I tell you exactly what they are, you gotta check out this video of them performing live while on tour with Flyleaf. LOVE this song!

I first checked out their music on MySpace and was impressed, but I gotta be honest... Just like everyone told me beforehand, they're even better live! I went to their practice today and I was diggin' it! They really get into it, and they were only in their bedroom!

Because I can't fully like an artist or a band until I approve of their personalities, here's a quick video of them introducing themselves today:

YES! You read right at the end! We have all of those things coming up!

They will be joining me LIVE on my show on Candy95 tomorrow starting at 11am CDT. We also had KBTX join us during their practice! That story will be aired throughout the day! Tomorrow afternoon: Let's just say we'll be walking the streets of College Station in an... interesting... way.

Wednesday, the big day wrapping up this challenge, we have arranged a LIVE SHOW! It will be held at the Stafford in Downtown Bryan, but for those of you who aren't local: We'll be streaming the show LIVE online!

You may not have heard of these guys before today, but you're going to get to know them real well in the next two days! Get pumped!

Tomorrow I'll also have some more video from today! [Which may or may not include a Cribs-style tour of their van, Mario Kart racing, and a flip-off.... along with some music, of course.]

UPDATE: 2p 7/13

The guys joined me on my show today!! Here are some of the breaks we recorded talking about the show tomorrow and their picks for 90s Dance Party!

the finished result of #90sflashback

As I said before, a major part of the most recent challenge was to show off something we have a passion for and share it with the world.

I have a passion for a lot of things, but recently my favorite thing to talk about with other people are the 90s.

Ya see, a lot of people think they weren’t that long ago… but they were! 20 years ago, actually! They were so long ago, that many of the fashions from back then are coming back a bit revamped.

Why do I love the 90s so much? I feel like everything was just happier back then. Maybe it was because I didn’t even make it out of middle school by the time they came to an end, but the music was cleaner for the most part. It was filled with more talent, and the celebrities didn’t seem to have as many issues being exposed.

People loved or hated artists because of their music and their personalities, not what they did to their wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend, or anything else in their personal life. Sure, there were tabloids and paparazzi everywhere, but they weren’t as much of an issue [as far as I can tell].

Shows and toys required kids to use an imagination and maybe even *gasp!* physical activity. Video games even required you to test out your lungs if they weren’t working properly.

There are a million things I wish I could bring back from the 90s… and it looks like you all agreed with me and I’m so pumped that I got to read SO many #90sflashback tweets. They made my very hectic and stressful weekend a bit more smiley.

Here are some of my favorites: [I may or may not have gone a little favorite-happy... click to make em bigger!]

Seriously- thank you for your support and reminiscing tweets!! I can’t say that enough.

Consider this a checkmark under completed for challenge 2... Just in time.

elizabethany

PS: I also had to describe what moves me or keeps me going. If I had one piece of advice for you, it’s in this post on elizabethany in real life. ]

intro to mtv tj challenge 2: i love the 90s

Holy cow we're already on challenge #2! BONKERS!

We're supposed to demonstrate something we're passionate about and spread our passion via hash-tag on Twitter.

My hash-tag to use like there's no tomorrow: #90sflashback.

I LOVE the 90s. I want it back. NOW!

I loved the pop culture of the 90s. The music is freakin' FANTASTIC. Life was a lot cleaner. There were a lot less worries in the world. I was a youngin' livin' the good life. Basically, everything was DA BOMB DIGGITY!!!

I thought it was so tight that I even have an hour of my radio show dedicated to only 90s music.

What I want you to do ALL WEEKEND and for as long as you want: Remember the 90s. What did you like about it?! What do you miss?! Tweet about it! Tweet about it all! Just remember to include #90sflashback!

BONUS: If you click someone's #90sflashback link, it's like a chat or a game! You can see what everyone else is saying!

Here are some pictures to begin your journey down memory lane:

Feel free to leave comments here, links to pictures, anything you'd like if you don't have Twitter!!! BUT... my participation with this challenge will be 98% Twitter based, so click here to watch all the action!

This is going to be a fun weekend! YAY!

love,
elizabethany

PS: Another announced challenge is "ongoing"... We have to be news-breakers on one topic for the duration of the competition. I've been your Real World go-to girl for over a year now, and it ain't stoppin'.

playing meet elizabethany on morning candy

Because today's ridiculously crazy for me, I didn't think I'd manage to get anything else posted for the first challenge but Frito helped me out this morning on his show here at Candy95.

For two hours we campaigned for more Twitter followers and played "Meet elizabethany."

Listeners called and texted in and I answered everything... Including things like posing for Playboy, my football loyalty, which hand I wipe with, who from Hollywood I'd take on a road trip with me, and ton more I can't begin to remember now.

Two parts! Two podcasts! Load em on your iPod and enjoy! [They're totally available on iTunes!]
[I'm embedding my entire podcast channel below so you can check everything out if you wish.]

Still feel free to send me any questions however you'd like! Thanks again SO SO much for the support! You guys are uh.may.zing.

mtv tj: challenge 1

11AM today was the moment I've been waiting for! It was even crazier than I thought!

Anyway, our first challenge is WHO AM I?!

The goal: To express who I am as a person to the world.... [Without boring them]
What needs to happen: [People need to love who I am.] More Twitter followers overnight than ever.

Because it's hard for me to come out and state who I am without sounding like a boring professional or something, I decided to do a few things... I shall present them without further ado.

First of all, I'm elizabethany, dangit! I've always said there's only room for one of me in the world.

Second, I think my videos describe me better than I could in words... Somehow I squeezed them all in under two minutes. [Not joking]

Third, photo galleries. Isn't there an old saying you don't truly know someone until you know their past?! Well, I absolutely believe that. Take a look at EB through the years... Including photographic evidence that I used to be the fat girl. Hmph. Also evidence that I haven't changed a bit.

Fourth, I asked my followers/readers/etc that have been following me for a little while what the world MUST know about me ASAP. Here are your responses:

[Thank you everyone for responding. I love all of the responses. You're all amazing!]

Finally, for those of you who are new to this blog, there are a couple of things you should skim through to get caught up and know what the h I'm talking about.
  • I have a Slutty Cat who I recently took from her Baby Daddy and uncle/lover.
  • I stalked the Real World: DC, and it's likely the reason I have this opportunity. You won't regret checking out my adventures.
  • I love anything Asian when it comes to the Internet.
  • Two females I would go gay for because I think they're just amazing: Britney Spears and Ellen DeGeneres.
  • I'm a 90s freak. I love everything from the 90s, especially the music... Hence my 90's Dance Party hour on Candy95.
  • I don't really refer to anyone by name... everyone in my life has a specific "BFF" name on here.
  • When I mention "The DMV," I'm referring to my hometown area of DC, Maryland, and VA.
  • If I don't like someone in Hollywood, you're going to know it pretty quickly. I don't care if I'm being a hater for no reason. They put themselves in the spotlight to get scrutinized.
  • I've got the attitude of a guy, but the appearance of a girl trying to be hip. I love sharing my double perspective with you.
I think that's it. If anyone has anything to add, please do!

And besides my weekly Real World chats that add in the "uniting and bringing people together through social media" aspect of this challenge, I'd say I've pretty much covered all the bases.

But please... If there's something you don't understand or what to know, ASK ME! I'm about as honest and uncensored as a girl can be.

By the way- It's nice to meet you!

love,
elizabethany

dare: buy something with my underwear outside my clothes

Truth or Dare with the Internet is absolutely the best thing to ever happen since stalking the Real World DC.

The latest Dare:

I told ya I'd do anything, and I'm looking at all of this as preparation for being on possibly live, national TV soon, so I did it with ease! ...Right after the BFF told me she hoped I'd end up on PeopleOfWalMart.

[YouTube sucks and copyrighted me right away again, so I had to go to Plan B. Lame.]

I wish you could see the reactions better! My videographer was trying to be discreet.

I have one of the best dares to complete tomorrow [along with the start of competition!] so keep sendin em! Just 'cuz I haven't completed yours yet, doesn't mean I won't!

mtv tj update: how you can help in 2 days!

We're TWO DAYS away from the big day! [Big day= Official start to the MTV TJ competition, duh!]

On Wednesday the following things will happen:
  • The final two candidates will be announced.
  • I'll get my first challenge and have less than 48 hours to complete it.
  • Voting on Facebook will begin.
  • I will be wearing an 80's prom dress all day long, thanks to a Dare.
I'm writing now to tell you how you can help. As of now, I don't think you can help with my challenge, and all I can ask regarding the prom dress is that you don't stare at me like I'm a monster, I'm going to tell you how to vote on Facebook.

It's really pretty easy. Each person on Facebook gets one vote. You can change it at any time, but hopefully you won't change your mind about me so that won't matter. The person who gets the most votes and is not chosen by MTV to be in the final 5, will fill the last spot on the plane to New York.

All you have to do:
  • "Like" Zync from American Express.
  • On Wednesday, when you check out the MTV TJ tab, there should be a "Vote" option. I don't know what it's going to look like, but look for my name, vote for me, and pray that I'm in good standing.
  • Make sure everyone knows your decision, spread the love, tell everyone you know, and everyone that they know to vote for me.
That's it! Simple! [Besides RT'ing me, commenting anything and everything about me/what I post, etc.]

Other fun ways to support me: Making team elizabethany [yes, I normally lowercase my name.. if you were wondering] pictures, or getting an official shirt [which is cheap!] by messaging my campaign manager, Jenn. [AKA my fellow stalker BFF]

Here are some of the pictures I've already gotten:

Thank you thank you THANK YOU to those of you who have submitted pictures! I'll continue to post whatever I get. You all are amazing!

Finally- I made this graphic for anyone who may want to use it as their Facebook profile pic or post on the side of their website. Any use of it would be greatly appreciated.

I honestly can't begin to tell you how thankful I am for all of your help. I want this more than anything I've ever wanted which is why I am whoring myself out so much. I've always been pretty against shoving my face into you or begging for your help, but I need to this time. Forgive me?!

Seriously, thanks again. I love you, and I mean it.

elizabethany

watch: mtv tj's do the spice girls

When I told the world to listen to Candy95 and my 90s Dance Party the day my MTV TJ candidacy was announced, a lot of my fellow TJs tuned in, and every one of them requested the Spice Girls.

This spiked an idea: An MTV TJ/Spice Girls lipdub.

I rounded up the troops from across the country, color coded the script, and had them send in videos. I then crashed my news anchor BFF's house to use his Mac and compiled what I think is a pretty great video.

We had some complications and last minute back-outs, but I'm happy with it.

So meet 13 of your top 20 MTV TJ candidates!:

Thank you to all the TJs for participating! T'was fun! Maybe we can convince Brett from Oz to post this somewhere special... on the TV even?!

watch: social media is god

This isn't anything funny or outrageous or what I'd normally make a whole post about, but it's pretty interesting... And considering the fact I'm going after a job that makes me the face of a huge company and the personality for their social media, it's a must post.

Check out all the crazy fascinating facts about social media as a whole:

Pretty crazy. We're taking part in a revolution and didn't even know it. Kids will be reading about Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc in their history books! NUTS.

love,
elizabethany

PS: Thanks to fellow TJ'er DanChiz for sharing this first. ;)

DARE!: gangster rap video

YES! I was hoping my post last night would inspire some people to give me some creative, fun, doable, but challenging dares, and YOU DID!

I was so pumped when I saw this in my formspring this morning:

As soon as I tweeted it though, I got a double dare:

Crap.

I'll be honest... I was a little nervous, and wondered how the H I was going to pull it off... But I wanna be your MTV TJ dangit!!! I'll do whatever it takes!

So, my friends... Here is my completion... My epic completion, if I must say so myself.

:)

I have no idea who did this. I don't know if it was a friend or a stranger. I can't dare them back! If you wanna step up and proclaim your geniusness, do it!

Keep em coming. Seriously. Keep em entertaining and fun! Y'all ROCK. MY. LIFE. You know that, right?! K good.

truth orr.... truth.

When I first kicked off my freakin' amazing idea to play Truth or Dare, I was pumped! People seemed into it and even MTV thought it was pretty great.

BUT! Ya know when you're playing, and everyone keeps picking Truth?! It gets kinda lame.

All I've been getting are Truths on my formspring!

Yikes. I better knock on wood and thank you guys for even playing, actually. I can't be taking you for granted! I guess I just want to express my desire to be challenged. K? K.

Onto my Truths:

Here's the "picture proof" that I haven't changed in over 23 years:

I can promise you without a doubt that this won't change me, no matter what the outcome. I won't let it. Even if I did, I have an amazing group of people who will slap me in the face if I do.

Keep 'em comin', kids! I'm diggin' any interaction I can get!
