Because AIM is all brand new and [I think, anyway] making a fabulous comeback if you give it a chance, it made me reflect on all my AIM memories.
Ya know... chatroom boyfriends [my online boyfriend's sn was Redwing091. I still remember it like it was yesterday, and now we're totally Facebook friends], staying up all night chatting with your friends, subprofiles, and oh yeah- my mom reading everything if she ever got the chance.
One night she did get the chance, when I got up to pee, to read every little detail of one of my first sexcapades.
I asked my listeners how their parents found out they weren't innocent anymore, but then Frito at my old station, Candy 95, wanted to have both my mom and me on his show this morning after craziness went down on my Facebook status. Holy awkward.
Here are both of the podcasts from the different segments.
I could have gone the rest of my life without reminiscing on such a memory with my mom... seriously. Oof.
It's been two weeks since I left College Station, but since I've been driving across country and getting acquainted here in Virginia Beach, I never had the chance to post this video!
I did this round-up of my year in Texas/at Candy 95 in the style of my old Real World videos! Also included: My "emotional video" that I talked about on Twitter and Facebook, as well as extra videos we made but never posted!
It's true. I'll never forget my time there or the friends I made. Thanks to everyone. :)
I mentioned getting Truth or Dare started up again, and have accepted a couple challenges!
The first dare to be completed this summer:
I got that on Friday morning, but I was already halfway done with my show! So I decided to postpone and do today's whole show in what I hoped would be a British accent.
Never did I break character and give up, but I don't know that I was "British." Either way, hilarious and awfully awkward. Here are the breaks:
Yeah... about that.....
I have at least two more dares I plan on doing within the next few weeks, but if you have any you want to give me, let me know any way you want!
I apologize for the lack of usual posts this week, but we've been hard at work trying to get some help to Joplin, MO after the tornadoes ripped through there.
If you didn't see on Twitter/Facebook, we took donations from the area and packed three trucks that we're personally driving up to Joplin.
I put this video together that really shows exactly how awesome it was on Tuesday.
The amount of stuff we got donated leaves me speechless. Thanks to all of you who donated items and money, this is truly incredible and I can't be more proud to be a part of it.
The bad parts- We've had SO MANY ISSUES getting the trucks up to Joplin thanks to flat tires, breaking down, etc... But at least one of them has made it there by now!
Check out the progress, pictures, etc. of the journey here.
Thanks again! This is awesome. And thanks for accepting my "slacking" on this blog this week.
It's going to be a VERY crazy week for me, and I can't believe it's only Monday. Ya know those days where you feel like you got a lot done, but have nothing to show for it? Yeah. Welcome to my day.
I did have a pretty good show, though. I've been putting more effort into preparing for my show and making sure I have things to talk about, so I hope you're listening and enjoying!
Here are today's podcasts [and the entire channel, in case you're bored!], along with today's Hollywood Minute.
I've been getting a lot of interesting "impressions" from people when I meet them lately. It's a given that everyone you meet is going to say "you look nothing like you sound!" when you work in radio, but I always ask what they expected. Lately I've been getting "fat, black, jaded, old, single mom, innocent..." to name a few.
Either I'm doing something wrong, or they have the wrong show.
I decided to ask them to text in their imaginary EB's, and these are some of the answers I got:
I couldn't stop laughing or dropping my jaw at some of them. All-American innocent girl?! Overweight tan brunette?! Oh dear.
I'll be whatever you want me to be, listeners... As long as you love me.
Last Friday was "National Fun at Work Day," so we decided to make our daily video all about the fun we have here at work, and show you behind the scenes of us making some of these videos.
It's short, it shows ya some mess-ups, what they look like before editing happens, and just another look at what happens here at the radio station!
It's SO much more work than what a typical 20 second video might lead you to believe. I've been putting in at least an extra two hours a day for these, and I'm damn proud of them. [Hence the slight beg at the end... Woops.]
Tweet If you haven't heard, I've been making DAILY videos here at the station. We tell you a holiday and a reason to party EVERY DAY! It's a LOT of work, but it's fun and totally worth it!
Today's reason to party: My Way Day.
Local rapper Big Hush recorded a quick rap for us and we made a music video to it!
All the videos are super short, and entertaining!, so if you've missed any, check em out!
Tweet Every day on my show I share the reasons to party for that day, but now we've decided to turn it into a daily video feature! Every day we'll tell you what you're celebrating, and give you an example of how to do it! [Make sure you subscribe so you can keep up, duh!]
Today's holiday: National Clean Off Your Desk Day!
I'm pretty pumped about this! It's not going to be easy, but I think it'll be fun! [And very, very cheesy... Just like everything else I do.] I won't post them all here every day though, so that's on you! ;)
Tweet This has obviously turned into quite the adventure each week for Niblett and I on The Break For Play Time. We scour through your calls and pick people to "help."
This week a guy went on a date with a girl he met on Match.com, and wasn't on the same page as she was. So, of course, we had to break the news to her.
Great. If I can't make someone mad, I make them cry. It's NOT my fault! And I DO have a heart! I'm just doing what y'all ask us to do, that's it!
Hopefully next week Nibs will finally man up and do it. And hopefully we won't have to break any couples up.
Tweet As I was traveling the world [/just the East Coast] this weekend, and using the super packed bathroom, I realized the evil eye I was receiving as I walked out of the bathroom without washing my hands.
My flight was about to take off, I wasn't going to be eating anytime soon, and I didn't pee on my hands nor touch anything wet, so I meandered out and didn't think twice.
I don't wash my hands every time I go to the bathroom at home, so why would I do it in public? Peer pressure?
I asked the BCS today if they were like me, when they washed their hands, and what the difference is.
Do you agree?! I CAN'T be alone on this. I know I'm not. Don't lie. We're all dirty sometimes.
Tweet Lookin' like lots of music this week! Let's get to it!
Rihanna ft. Drake--> What's My Name?
It was only a matter of time until they collabo'd. As much as I'm not a fan of Drake, I really like this song. Something about it reminds me of old Rihanna and that makes me smile.
Eminem ft. Lil Wayne--> No Love
I know there's a thing called magic and all, but isn't Lil Wayne in jail right now?! But making music videos?! Anyway, this song is a little late in getting on here, but if you haven't heard it, it's about time you do.
Ke$ha--> We R Who We R
I'm a fan of Ke$ha, that's nothing new. I totally dig this song. It's a dance song and something you can listen to when you're alone.
30 Seconds to Mars--> Closer to the Edge
It's not my typical choice of music, but I wouldn't mind hearing it more or playing it. It's your call on this one.
Atomic Tom--> Take Me Out
Meh. Maybe this is something that will grow on me, but it's missing something. Nothing is making me like OMG LOVE IT.
Audio Push--> Up N Down
This is a background song. Probably nothing you're going to be dying to hear, but won't mind hearing it.
iSquare--> Hey Sexy Lady
I don't know that the name "iSquare" is going to help him/them/whatever with anything, but it's not a bad beat. It's just like all the other songs that you hear all day long.
Little Big Town--> Kiss Goodbye This isn't my favorite song from Little Big Town, but I do like the lyrics. It's definitely worth a listen.
Now is when you tell me what you want to hear more of! Check as many as you want and by next week we'll be looking at the results and adding some to the station! It's all up to YOU! [Even if you're not a Candy 95 listener, your help is appreciated!]
Tweet Travie McCoy came to College Station last Wednesday and is the sole reason I died I got to interview him before he went on stage!
I got to the bar around 7 and talked to him for a quick second during sound check, but it wasn't until he came back after 1am that I got to talk to him on camera.
We were right below the stage, the bass was booming, and it had been a long night for both of us, to say the least.
Still- I managed to get a couple answers out of him. The problem is that I had to caption everything and make it choppy. But choppy= short, and ADD people love short videos.
Enjoy.
He was quick, and didn't talk much, but it might have been because of his state of mind. He did make fun of me a few times, though... And I'm going to assume it was in a friendly way.
I'm thinkin' about making a bloopers reel of this interview, but it probably wouldn't be a smart idea... and I have this picture, which is a screen shot from the bloopers, as a reminder to think before I do.
The show was quick, but good. I also got to meet DJ Benzi, who works with Mike Posner and Chitty Bang, to name a few. As far as I can tell, he seems like a pretty cool guy... that loves to promote himself.
Check out the station's pictures from the event! There are definitely some good ones.
Tweet Last week y'all really liked the debut of the Monday Mojo Mix done by DJ X, so it's only right that I make it available for those of you who missed it today.
Awesome 90s music mixed together to pump you up= a great thing for your Monday drive home.
Speaking of 90s, here's the update on 90s Madness!
Tweet If you haven't been paying attention on Twitter, DJ X and I are planning to take over the world.
...the Entertainment world, anyway.
Step 1: Getting him to mix on my show.
Once a week he's going to produce the Monday Mojo Mix, which will give you something to look forward to every Monday instead of the typical "it's just another Manic Monday."
Some awesome 90's music. An awesome mix DJ. An awesome radio personality [I really don't want to say that, but I feel obligated]. It's basically the equation for greatness.
Enjoy it now. Download it. Enjoy it for years to come.
Tweet In case you've been voting/keeping track on Twitter with the daily 90s Madness polls, here's the updated bracket! We're officially halfway through the first round. Oy. [Click to make it bigger, silly!]
Remember- every day starting at 1p/12c it's the 90s Dance Party! Listen to 90s music and listen for the daily matchup!
Tweet This was probably my biggest and most favorite interview to date.
The superstars of Bryan/College Station came in studio to co-host the 90s Dance Party with me!
Who are they?! None other than Raini and Rico Rodriguez!!
Oh, those names aren't ringing a bell?! Maybe this picture will:
YES! Maya from Paul Blart: Mall Cop and MANNY From Modern Family!
We hung out for an hour and talked about what they miss when they're in LA, how they can remember me when they're there, who Raini's first kiss was, their insane knowledge of 90s music and culture, and most importantly- how to get a girl from Mr. Suave himself [Manny, duh].
Also- find out why they call themselves "The Kardashians of Texas."
Three podcasts: One of the behind-the-scenes, too much for radio chatter; one of everything we talked about on-air; and the dare I gave to Manny: Prank call my BFF to talk about their upcoming date... that she obviously doesn't know about [or know who's calling].
After we got all of the talking out of the way, it was time to get down to business: Truth or Dare.
Rico completed his dare, so I dared Raini to put on a solo karaoke show throughout the studio. In response, they dared me to do my impersonation of Gloria/Sofia Vergara.
Done and done. BUT... then I pushed it a step further and dared them to eat some crickets that we had lying around the station.
Check out how it backfired, and how well everyone completed the challenges:
I still have that awful, gagging taste in my mouth, I'm not even joking. It was pretty bad.
Honestly- it couldn't have gone better today. These kids were a BLAST and I can't wait to have them back in a few months.
And now I'm all sorts of crazy-amped for the new episode and season of Modern Family in AN HOUR!
To make the time pass quicker- check out the pictures from today:
Thanks again to the Rodriguez family and my taxi driver Eddie for making this happen!
Tweet Because it's sometimes hard to get to my Ustream for whatever reason, I'm embedding the video AND chat here to make it easy for ya!
Today at 1p/12c I'll be talking to Rico and Raini Rodriguez! [AKA Manny from Modern Family and Maya from Paul Blart: Mall Cop!] We'll also be doing some trivia and... my favorite... TRUTH OR DARE!
I'll post everything later on, but I recommend catching the uncut version live today!
If you have any good dare ideas or questions, leave them below or tweet me!
Tweet This is maybe one of the best days for podcasts thus far! SO many and all so good!
The call-in topic: How not to be THAT girl. I had to bleep something! Hollywood Minute and Life Lessons as usual... a CRAZY story in Life Lessons. My entire show in just 3 minutes.
