video diary: my trip to jamboree in the hills, a country festival

After last year's quick trip to Big Barrel, and then it being canceled, I knew I had to get a new country festival to go to. A TON of them kept getting canceled, but Jamboree in the Hills claimed to be the oldest and the easiest to get to so BAM. I was going.

I looked for an RV, found a bunch of Mountaineer friends, bought way too much food and just enough alcohol, and hit the road for Belmont, Ohio. AKA Bumf***.

We got lucky and parked near some horse friends, and with a quick walk down the parking lots, found families with a legit pool setup. That's what's so fun about these things! You meet interesting people [who try to jump into a pool and totally fail].

First order of business upon arrival: A beer bong. Obviously while wearing something America and overalls.

That pool had a filter AND a heater! And he claims it was $80.

It was a rainy night... but being in the rain, without caring about how wet you get, is one of the most freeing feelings.

Essentials for Jambo: A fancy DIY cooler [you can actually bring in your drinks and food!!!!] and some good ol' redneck clothing.

Only time to sleep: Between artists. [Actually, I felt pretty good about the amount of sleep I got. Most of the time everyone was out around midnight, up at 8am. Plenty of snoozing!]

My roommates for the weekend! So proud of us for putting it together and having faith in it being awesome!

There's another detail that I've been telling everyone- how much we all spent. After designating one person as the bank to front the money for the tickets, RV, gas, food, alcohol, EVERYTHING... then splitting it up, we each only spent $430! Considering that's all the alcohol and food FOR FOUR DAYS, I'll call that a bargain of a trip! We even had way too much food left over and could have spent $30 less.

So who's in for next year?! Mark your calendars for the third weekend in July and we'll see you there!

i spy: uncle sam and halloween 2013

So... This year... is not like the past few.

Without giving you [perfectly reasonable] excuses on why I don't have a HUGE collection of awesome costumes from this year, I'll just take the blame... it's cuz I've become a Halloween snob thanks to Pinterest... and expect nothing but the best.

That being said, there were some I totally loved... and these are them!
This is the epitome of hott costume but still legit. Look at their wigs! So many props, ladies.

"What are you blind, ref?! You're blowin' the game!" ... I assume that's what they're doing here, anyway...

I'll ALWAYS give props to fully homemade costumes, especially when they're simple but still look great! Like both of those.
If Red and the Wolf woulda had a baby.....

IT'S SO INTENSE.

I see what you guys did there... you're going to eat her... wait know that's opposite.

And THESE are some of the ones I spotted out and about during the week...

Um... YES Colonel Sanders and the chicken! ....and a gorilla... and a female Mr T.

Do what ya can when you're rockin' a sling, Butla!

Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox! How cute are they, and how great is this for a country guy who doesn't wanna dress up much?

If you're going to be Walt... this is a ballsy and AMAZING way to do it... but homeboy was too oblivious to hear me asking him for a good picture.

UP costumes always capture my heart...

And THIS guy.. the Drake cover... people were FREAKING OUT over him. It was simple, but fine.. I'll give props.

Metro station pole!

I've seen these on Pinterest, but like... I'm obsessed with Slurpees, so.. duh it's on here.

And me! I can never just be a female human for Halloween... and since I'm back home in DC... I went all 'Merican! [Plus... it's kinda been my theme all year...]
What I got:
-old black flats because I was at a party on a farm
-striped tights from the Halloween store $7
-white button down I already had
-red bowtie from Amazon $2
-blue blazer from H&M $14
-hat from the Halloween store because I decided last minute I wanted a huge one- $12
TOTAL: $35

The best part: I can wear every single one of these pieces again. I've been wanting to mix a bowtie into my wardrobe, the tops are a no brainer, and the socks/hat can be used for many future bar crawls! Score!

If you had an awesome costume and it didn't make it on here, it's probably because I didn't see it which means you didn't send it to me... and that sucks... but according to the world around me- it's time to move on to Christmas.. so BYE.

what ya wearin wednesday 031313

If only March was the 13th month... Yesterday's date woulda been like SO COOL!

Alright, I'm sorry. No more wasting time.

So glad @alorabuzz joined in this week from LA! LOVE her all black with a pop of color! And her bag. And her earrings. [There was a new pope yesterday, after all!]

@SimplySarah4 had this fantastic bohemian-ish maxi skirt for her work outfit! Those just look unbelievably comfortable.

@jannashepherd mixed the best color combo of mint and coral, with a fun black and white top!

I love @siarrahhh's bandana to add some color!

@gillyrae loves floral prints, and for good reason! She rocks that jacket!

Do I even need to say how obessed I am with @wvgirl13's socks?!

So excited for @BonnieRash who sent their picture in from SXSW! They performed twice! Congrats, boys! And lookin' good with the different styles!

Some girls pull off camo... and @jennay_z is one of those girls!

@mdefunk went a little bohemian, too! That dress is fabulous!

I can't decide what the most fabulous part of @caralineemily14's picture is! All the jewelry? The pose? The SHOES?!

It's workout season for everyone! @KaciKruz showed off her glued-to-the-body pants!

Loving @BrookeRadio's whole ensemble for a total of $21! Remember that necklace. You'll see it again soon!

@amsnedegar is sporting the latest domestic short-hair. Is it another grumpy cat not wanting to show its face?!

WOW! @CoreyRadio actually put on a button down for the occasion!

@toribabyy14 is so ready for spring, and I don't blame her! Lovin' the brights!

Oohh, @ksnedegar has me googly eyes over her bright blue pants and that top! It makes me wanna have an office job for a day!

@AaronsFreakFlag and friend sport the ties at their job!

I didn't get the memo, but apparently on Wednesdays, @trudeewiltshire wears Hawaiian shirts.

@ginacostanzo87 is ready for the weekend with her St Pattys-fab manicure!

@abaker1804 is ready to put her sweaters away for the year! DITTO! But those boots are great!

@captainamandica and her friend were fun and matchy on their way to the Outer Banks! Those sunglasses are the best!

Remember how I said to remember the owl necklace?

Ta da! We both got them from bluelans.com for $2! It was my inspiration combined with these flats I got from Wet Seal for $4!
-jeggings from F21 $6
-shirt from NY&C for $12ish

TOTAL: $24
And because I enjoyed my outfit on Tuesday night, I figured I'd share this as well! [I know, this is supposed to be about you.... but it's still my blog!.....]

-sweater from TJ Maxx $8
-skirt from F21 $4
-shoes from GoJane.com $18
-long dangly gold earrings from Charlotte Russe $2
TOTAL: $34

Normally I struggle to find something to wear with that sweater because it's short... but apparently a higher wasted skirt is the way to go!

Thanks again to everyone for submitting! Still seeing new faces and I love it!

watch: worst commercial ever is from morgantown

If you know nothing about Morgantown, WV, it's pretty unfortunate that you know nothing of 6'6" 240, arguably the best rapper alive.

Woah. That's a lie. He's pretty damn terrible, yet he made a "Gold N Blue" song [and continues to switch up the lyrics every year] about the Mountaineers that gets tons of radio time and people chanting it on game day.

To give you a little taste of how he is and how the town seems to believe the "best" comment, check out this commercial. It's legit. It airs on TV. SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE, thought it was a good idea.

HOW HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS BEFORE NOW?!

I'll never know the answer to that question, but I'm really glad that my hickey contest havin' BFF just showed it to me.

Just... wow. and WHY?!?!

raini and rico rodriguez visit me in the studio for truth or dare!

This was probably my biggest and most favorite interview to date.

The superstars of Bryan/College Station came in studio to co-host the 90s Dance Party with me!

Who are they?! None other than Raini and Rico Rodriguez!!

Oh, those names aren't ringing a bell?! Maybe this picture will:

Rico and Raini Rodriguez-5

YES! Maya from Paul Blart: Mall Cop and MANNY From Modern Family!

We hung out for an hour and talked about what they miss when they're in LA, how they can remember me when they're there, who Raini's first kiss was, their insane knowledge of 90s music and culture, and most importantly- how to get a girl from Mr. Suave himself [Manny, duh].

Also- find out why they call themselves "The Kardashians of Texas."

Three podcasts: One of the behind-the-scenes, too much for radio chatter; one of everything we talked about on-air; and the dare I gave to Manny: Prank call my BFF to talk about their upcoming date... that she obviously doesn't know about [or know who's calling].

After we got all of the talking out of the way, it was time to get down to business: Truth or Dare.

Rico completed his dare, so I dared Raini to put on a solo karaoke show throughout the studio. In response, they dared me to do my impersonation of Gloria/Sofia Vergara.

Done and done. BUT... then I pushed it a step further and dared them to eat some crickets that we had lying around the station.

Check out how it backfired, and how well everyone completed the challenges:

I still have that awful, gagging taste in my mouth, I'm not even joking. It was pretty bad.

Honestly- it couldn't have gone better today. These kids were a BLAST and I can't wait to have them back in a few months.

And now I'm all sorts of crazy-amped for the new episode and season of Modern Family in AN HOUR!

To make the time pass quicker- check out the pictures from today:

Thanks again to the Rodriguez family and my taxi driver Eddie for making this happen!

lauren conrad's fall line is fanfreakingtastic

I used to buy my entire wardrobe from Kohl's... Until everyone made fun of me, especially my hickey contest havin' and ginger ex-roommate BFFs.

Then, just like magic, my girl LC made it cool again with her line.

It's freakin' awesome. If you love her style as much as I do, you'll love her line. It's very her. I've gotten a bunch of stuff [when it's on sale] and I pretend that I am her on the days I wear it.

Anyway, her new additions have been released and I'm obsessed.

My faves:

I really wish I had a sugar daddy to help me afford these things. [Any takers- I'm normally a size M or S in her line, FYI] Seriously- I want every piece in this freakin' collection besides the leggings, but unless they go on a serious sale, I can't afford it. [The cheapest thing is around $22, and that's way over my budget.]

Maybe now's the time I start the style/bargain section of my blog. I've been steppin' up my game while still being cheap... I guess I should share my knowledge and try to recreate one of these outfits... Even though I'd much rather support her line.
