tunes on tuesday 083110

More music! WOOPWOOP!

Before we get into the ready-for-radio singles, Lady Gaga sang a new song at her concert the other night. It's called "Livin On The Radio."

I actually reeeaaallly like it. It's different than her normal stuff, which is refreshing and just what I need for her to reel me in.

Kanye West and Justin Bieber have also officially collaborated... With Raekwon... for "Runaway Love."

That one I'm NOT a fan of. If Kanye and J Biebs collabo, it could be epic. This... is not so epic. He sounds very young-MJ to me which is cool, though.

Now onto the radio-bound songs.

Lights Over Paris--> Turn Off the Lights

It reminds me of a group singing an Adam Lambert song or something. They're totally trying to capitalize on the 7 billion dollar vampire industry. It's meh to me. I don't hate it, but it's definitely background music.

The Maine--> Right Girl

I feel like Fall is when all of this band music pops up quite a bit. I can dig this song if I need to.

Soulja Boy--> Blowin Me Kisses

Ohhh Soulja Boy... You are one of a kind. In a not so musically talented way. It's very him. Nuff said.

Trey Songz ft. Nicki Minaj--> Bottoms Up

Ummmm can I go out right now and start gettin' down to this song?! Please and thanks.

Carrie Underwood--> Mama's Song

Anything Carrie and anything about Mamas is going to be a hit. It's normally a song I tend to skip over on her album, but mostly because it's slow. It's definitely good.

Walker Hayes--> Pants

Who 'dis?! I enjoy. It's totally cute.

That's all for now! It's a rather quiet time, I feel.

i spy: a girl who needs more clothes on

It's been a VERY long time since I've played this super fun game I call "I Spy."

In case you've never been a part of it here on love, e, I show you things that I see out in public that are "OMG" worthy.

It needs to come back... and today, it is. Thanks to some hooker girl deciding it was okay to wear a shirt as a dress in Northgate the other night.

Ladies... Darlings... Friends.... Wearing shirts as dresses is not okay. I know I'm no style expert, but seeeeeeriously. Dress a little classier, will ya?! I've noticed girls hike up the skirts and add some inches to their heels around here, but sometimes enough is enough.

Also- beware of EB on the streets. Hopefully homegirl doesn't read this. Or... hopefully she does, gets the hint, comments back hating my guts, and never does it again.

And to any girls who have friends that wear things that aren't so great- For the love of God, TELL THEM!!!! You wouldn't want to look a hott mess in public either, would you?!

love,
elizabethany

PS: In case my ex-friend who once left me stranded still reads this, I think someone should tell you that it's time to switch up your wardrobe choices so that it better suits your body ASAP. You're welcome.
[Now I'll stop being a B.]

watch: elle fanning's "somewhere" movie trailer

There's been a lot of talk of Dakota Fanning's little sis Elle making her way down the red carpet and onto the big screen, and she's about to make her big debut.

She's starring in "Somewhere," a movie about a dad who lives the crazy bachelor life until his young, 11 year old daughter comes and changes his life forever... "until she has to leave."

It's not a new plot, but it sounds pretty promising. I think we can guarantee a super cute movie that probably ends in tears and little smiles.

I'll totally be down to see it. I may need to wait until it's on DVD so I can have a sob night to myself, but I wanna watch little Fanning!

Remind me at some point not to compare them... If it's at all possible.

download THE summer mix of 2010

I've been asking for your votes and nominations for over a week, and I've finally made the official list... The list of songs from this summer that will forever keep it alive.

I shall call it "OMG, There's No Gettin' Over the Afternoons of Summer 2010, Honey."

Long title, yeah... But I had to be at least a little clever.

Here it is for your convenience! You can download the whole thing for $18.06, or you can pick and choose.

Yes, I picked Nickelback's "This Afternoon," and yes, I made it song #1. Have you chilled outside and turned that song on while your drinkin' by the pool?! It's perfect. Hate on Nickelback all you want, but it's a good song.

I also included another "shocker" song of Lady Antebellum's American Honey. Every good CD/mix has a variety of music, and there needed to be a country song. I couldn't stop blasting this all summer long. It's a beautiful song, and everyone loves Lady A.

Other than those, I think the group is pretty self explanatory. It's all the songs you've heard on the radio all summer. All the songs you've been requesting. All the songs you'll hear next year every once in a while and think "damn, last summer was an awesome summer."

Thanks so much for your input! Y'all really helped me come up with a list I think is perfect.

Enjoy!

watch: ozzy osbourne on the jersey shore

What a combination!

Ozzy Osbourne is working on promoting his new album and is making a bunch of TV and movie spoofs for his live concert intro [according to YouTube]. One of the spoofs: Jersey Shore.

It. Is. Great.

I TOTALLY didn't know it was really him! He looks great! All young and short hair and stuff! DANG OZZY! You fit right in!

Can someone please put him on the show foreal?! It'd be fantastic.

    watch: crazy guy thinks he's a dog

    I understand there are weird people out there. That's fine. I enjoy weird people.

    This guy.... is coocoo. He thinks he's a dog, dresses up like one, and is trying to legally change his name to "Boomer the Dog."

    This is Pittsburgh news. They must not have much going on, or they're trying to compete with Antoine Dodson.

    They can't even compare. This guy is a character and WEIRD. He should probably wear a straight jacket.

    watch: cut throat [new challenge] trailer

    It's almost time for another season of the Real World/Road Rules Challenge!

    Normally I don't get too into these... Or at least not as much as I do the Real World. This time we have TWO DC'ers involved [Ty and Emily], and from what I hear, Ty makes quite a name for himself.

    Don't you worry.... I'll still be here for weekly chats and info [and probably podcasts more than right now] once it gets going, but in the meantime- check out the trailer.

    Note: It's been kinda glitchy for some people, so hopefully it works for you.

    It doesn't show much, and I can't tell who is who, but there sure are a lot of "mother f#@%*%$" in there... And from what I hear, it was an interesting time. As usual, don't expect our favorite newbies to have a blast moving into the house.

    watch: crazy indian pole gymnastics

    [Disclaimer: The big bossman told me not to give him credit for showing me this video, so I shall say that it was our office scapegoat, Emo Sarah, who told me to check this craziness out.]

    Have you ever heard of this Indian pole gymnastics stuff?! NO WONDER pole dancing is trying to get into the Olympics! This puts the National Pole Dancing Championships to SHAME!

    Ummmm OW! WOAH! CRAZY!

    How in the world does a man flip and land on/catch a pole with his CROTCH?! Yowza.

    This is freakin' crazy though. I expected to see some cool pole dancing, and went on to tell Sarah that I wanted to take pole dancing classes and that I thought Candy95 logos all over the videos would be a great idea.... Now I'm even MORE determined to make myself a professional pole dancer/gymnast.

    Props to these Indian gymnast boys.... and whoever they marry... Cuz they ain't gonna be havin' babies.

    on the racks: elin does people

    19 hours of interviews later, People Magazine has their latest cover story hitting the racks:

    Elin Nordegren talked to them over a span of 4 days totaling 19 hours for this breaking-the-silence story that apparently didn't earn anyone any money. [But let's be honest... a few thousand from the magazine would be nothing compared to her divorce settlement, I'm sure.]

    As much as this is a huge story, there's nothing surprising as far as I can tell. It sucked that her husband cheated on her, she had no idea, and there was never any physical harm done.

    Here are some of her highlighted quotes as a JIC [just in case, duh]:

    "I have been through the stages of disbelief and shock, to anger and ultimately grief over the loss of the family I so badly wanted for my children.... My immediate plan is for the kids and me to continue to adjust to our new situation. I am going to keep taking classes, but my main focus is to try to give myself time to heal."

    "I always believe the best of people, and when you do that, you're going to be really screwed sometimes. My fear when this first happened was that I wouldn't be that way anymore, but I haven't lost that."

    The second quote: Perfect. So true. Relate-able.

    I think this whole ordeal made her a million times more famous than she was before, and I think she'll be okay. I know it sucks. I was in her shoes once upon a time.... but homegirl is rich fo' life. She'll be okay.

    cute animals of the week: happy seals

    Oh. My. Goodness.

    The past couple months I have seen some of the cutest freakin' animals, and they keep getting better. I've never had an extreme attraction to seals, but Shark Week got to me this year and I totally love them.

    Then.... I saw these.

    SERIOUSLY. Could they be ANY cuter?! Holy crap. I can't stop looking at them.

    Computer background officially changed.

    watch: nj housewife danielle bombs the morning show

    There are some reality stars who really shouldn't bother trying to make music [*cough* Heidi Montag] and there are some who really should be shot when they do try to shove it in our faces.

    One of those people is New Jersey housewife Danielle Staub.

    She went on a morning news show to perform her single "Real Close," and you need to brace yourself before watching. The only pre-warning I'll give you is that there are large, male backup dancers twirling each other around.

    If she's going for the "I need attention" career, cool. She's got it. She's HAD it. If she's going for the music career, homegirl better go home, cry, and give up now.

    tunes on tuesday 082410

    You ready for some new music?! I sure am!

    Natasha Bedingfield--> Strip Me

    I'm not CRAZY about this song, but I can definitely dig it... Lyrics are good, too.

    The Ready Set--> Love Like Woe

    This is the guy who performed at the MTV TJ finale! It's totally a teen-sensation song, but I can dig it... And I think a lot of people liked it at the finale.

    BC Jean--> Just a Guy

    It's a nice girl power anthem with a hint of sarcasm, which is just my style. The sound is iffy but maybe it'll grow on me.

    Enrique Iglesias ft. Akon--> One Day at a Time

    It's kinda "meh" to me, especially following "I Like It," but I'm assuming it's going to be played quite a bit.

    Ne-Yo--> One in a Million

    It's chill. It's nothing that made me wanting to pay attention to every word, but I enjoy Ne-Yo... that's no secret.

    Shontelle--> Perfect Nightmare

    I enjoy, yes I do.

    YG--> Toot It and Boot It

    Uhhh... I'm confused. Homeboy is mad cocky. Song started good... then he started rapping.

    Joanna Smith--> Gettin' Married

    The song is a lot more fun than you'd think. Girl is sassy! The recorded version is even better, obviously. I could enjoy this fun lil song.

    Sorry, not a whole lot of country to share with you today! But without further ado, I shall give you the song everyone is talking about. Pardon my french, Mom... but it's called Fuck You... And it's by Cee-Lo and 50 Cent.

    Amazing, amazing song. It's funny, but I legit love its sound. Bravo, boys.

    That's all for now! Goodnight!

    i'm no style expert BUT...

    I'm a little nervous about this, but I just read in my People Style Watch mag that style is all about having confidence, so I'm doing it.

    What am I doing? Starting to write a little about fashion.

    I'm sure any girl who grew up in the gym can agree with me that if there's one thing we were never taught to understand, it's fashion. Our idea of nightlife fashion is jeans [if you're lucky] and a cool top... With flip flops, of course. Jewelry? Maybe the same earrings that we wear with every other outfit. Catch us during the day and there's a 99% chance we have a t-shirt or hoodie on.... and feel good about.

    BUT... After all this blogging I've been doing for the past two [holy crap my anniversary is coming up!] years, I've learned to scope out some trends and try to apply them to me.

    So today I welcome you to my journey to become something fashionable. Something people can look at and say "that's cute! I want that outfit!" It's gonna take some work, but it'll be fun.

    Also- it's going to take a lot of bargains. I'm an extremely broke little girl, so deals are a must. Don't you worry.. I'll be sharing all the must-see sales with ya!

    To kick things off, I thought I'd show ya what I did to an old dress this weekend. I've had this white dress since my high school graduation, and only worn it once since then. It's from my fat days, but I kept it thinking "some day I'll find a way to wear that." Finally, I did. It took a bit of creativity, but I think it worked!

    It's normally a knee length, asymmetrical dress with this weird sash tie thing around the waist. It's hard to tell in the pictures, I know... but it's all I could find of the two times I wore it.

    I saw this picture of Lauren Conrad [my style inspiration, duh] and wanted to try and recreate it... for free.

    I folded over the top of my dress so that the length became shorter and the sash was a little under my boobs. I took the sash, brought it around, and tied it to the opposite side as usual, and tucked a little more of the "skirt" under it to make it symmetrical and shorter.

    With my new go-to camel heels that I got on clearance at Shoe Dept and a yellow and brown necklace, I finished it off. [I also had a camel belt on with it for a little while, but thought it was too much.] VOILA! It's a whole new dress.

    I've been trying to do this a lot with all my old clothes. If I'm going to keep them, I need to find a way to wear them. You should try it too! All those dresses that are loose but are tight around your butt and thighs- they're "totally out" right now, so tuck the tight part up around your belly and pair it with some great jeans! It's magic!

    Like I said, I'm no pro at this, and I really don't know if you should take my advice at all..... but I'm going to tell you everything, because I'm learning, and I like sharing what I learn.

    Your feedback is ALWAYS desired! Fellas- If you've read down this far, thank you. I'd also totally love your feedback too! It's you I'm trying to impress, after all.

    the justice department needs ebonics translators

    When ya look at a list of translator job openings for the Justice Department, you don't expect to see "Ebonics" as one of the languages... but it's there.

    They're looking for people in Atlanta to help translate the slang language, leavint The Smoking Gun to say what's "appropriate":
    "Ebonics has widely been described as a nonstandard variant of English spoken largely by African Americans. John R. Rickford, a Stanford University professor of linguistics, has described it as "Black English" and noted that "Ebonics pronunciation includes features like the omission of the final consonant in words like ‘past' (pas' ) and ‘hand' (han'), the pronunciation of the th in ‘bath' as t (bat) or f (baf), and the pronunciation of the vowel in words like ‘my' and ‘ride' as a long ah (mah, rahd)."

    It's hilarious to me. Will Ebonics become a class kids can take in school?! COLLEGE, even?! I'd so sign up and get an A++! Maybe they'll even offer an AP version.

    To add to the laughter that is this job posting, take a listen to a promo for the job: [NSFW]

    So perfect.

    I wonder how it pays... If it's good, I'm OUTTA HEA! Or... I'll tell DJ X to take the job... He's in ATL, after all.

    my first time with a shake weight

    I don't normally post something so random and pointless, but I just have to.

    Ellen used one, and people have been buying them like crazy, and I've been waiting my turn.... to try the Shake Weight.

    Apparently I was trying out the man's version of the thing, which is probably why I was strugglin', but I'd like to pretend that I'm still as strong as I used to be and should be able to handle the male's Shake Weight.

    False. Men are pros at that for a reason, I think.

    BUT. It was a pretty epic experience... And I absolutely want one of my own.

    Oh my wow. If you're wanting to learn how to dance, apparently my man SPIKE is the man to learn from. He combines break dancing, tumbling, and even a hint of sexuality... As long as "Cheryl" doesn't get in the way.

    Yes. That just happened. No, I'm not sorry for telling you to watch it.

    I thought he had a wedding ring on at first, but apparently it's a chastity ring. If you want some more SPIKE entertainment, I recommend looking at his comments/replies on YouTube.

    miley's gone real, real bad for her new movie

    Everyone should know I'm a big fan of Miley, but all this becoming uber-slut so soon thing is not okay with me.

    Whether she likes it or not, she started on the Disney Channel, and she needs to respect her younger fans. Instead, she's taking a role in a movie that is a bit controversial, to say the least.

    Apparently Lola [AKA Miley] loses her virginity, smokes pot, gets wasted, kisses girls on the lips, and shows her mom Ana, played by actress Demi Moore, her Brazilian wax in her new movie "LOL: Laughing Out Loud."

    Yikes.

    The movie sounds like a good plot, though:

    "The film focuses on communication gap between Lola and her mother, due to the increasing use of YouTube, iTunes and Facebook. Lola's mom, Anne, "accidentally" reads her teenage daughter's racy journal and dicovers Lola's wild ways."

    It's supposed to debut next year, but expect lots of criticizing people. I'll probably be joining them.

    What do you think?!

    Please, Miley, for the love of all the little Disney lovin' girls out there, calm your ass down and ease into things, will ya?!

    tim halperin performs in studio

    I've been pretty pumped and tweeting about this for a few weeks, but finally the day came! Remember the AWESOME one take music video I posted a couple weeks ago?! The singer is Tim Halperin, he's living in Dallas/Fort Worth, and does shows in College Station! AWESOME!

    He's doing a sorority tour right now [mmhmmmm] and was in College Station last night, so he stopped by for an in-studio interview and performance!

    What's really awesome: He's been featured on Real World New Orleans TWICE! He got an email that he'd be featured and then probably had all the same feelings I did when he saw his name on the TV for the first time. [But I'll let him tell you that story in the podcasts below.]

    Seriously, I think I'm about to become obsessed with him. He's an amazing singer and totally cool! He even told me I was "dabomb.com," not once, but twice.

    DEFINITELY take a listen to the podcast interview [I call him a slut and find out what it takes to make a viral video] and watch the video of his performance [which included a freakin' AWESOME "Party in the USA" cover!]. You might fall in love too. I also turned his songs into podcasts for your listening pleasure, but you have to subscribe for those.

    And here are some fabulous pictures courtesy of P$, my fellow Web Winger here.
