watch: obama kicks off the nationals home season

Unless you're a Washington-sports-only fan, you're probably not rooting too hard for the Nationals, and you probably weren't at the home opener yesterday [unless, of course, you had nothing else to do in the beautiful weather].

...So you probably didn't see President Obama throw the first pitch.

....In a White Sox hat.



At first I was a little angry. How is the president going to come on the field and laugh in the Nationals' face like that?!

Then I heard "You can take the president out of Chicago, but you can't take Chicago out of the president."

Okay, fine. I'll let him rep his team as hard as he wants, wherever he wants... As long as he's a real fan. What should a real fan be able to do?! Name some players.



Wow. Obama FAIL.

If this doesn't demonstrate his ability to bullshit and completely ignore specific questions, I don't know what will.

I love him and all, but I hate bandwagon/fake fans. If you're going to rep your team that hard and practically slap the home team in the face, at least know some facts.

Sidenote: We all thought he was super athletic, too... So much for being able to throw a baseball, eh?!

Let's start doing things to make people love you again, Mr. Obama. Please and thanks. I don't like hearing people say they're embarrassed they voted for you.

watch: 2009 in auto-tune

Do I need to introduce such a video assuming you've read the title?

It's another wrap-up of the year, with all of the top annoyances happenings of the year, including the beloved auto-tune.



This year has flown by so fast some of these things seem like they just happened a month ago, but they didn't.

Michael Jackson and the Summer of Death not included? There must be more parts coming... Maybe.

Or, like I said.. This is more about the annoyances of the year, with the exception of the talent that is Obama smashing a fly.

kanye interrupts everyone

I'm definitely sick of hearing about how Kanye interrupted Taylor's speech. Okay, it was stupid. He's a huge d-bag. Tell me something I don't know. The guy's been on my hate-list since day 1.

What I do find hilarious are A) the people who are talking about it and B) pictures people are making/things they're having him "say."

Did you hear Obama called him a jackass?! Yea, President Obama got caught saying Kanye West is a jackass, and it's just one reason why I love our president.



I wonder if Kanye will come out and say "President Obama does not like Kanye West"... Oh wait. Obama already did that for him.

Kelly Clarkson totally ripped Kanye a new butthole, too.

Dear Kanye,

What happened to you as a child?? Did you not get hugged enough?? Something must have happened to make you this way and I think we’re all just curious as to what would make a grown man go on national television and make a talented artist, let alone teenager, feel like shit. I mean, I’ve seen you do some pretty shitty things, but you just keep amazing me with your tactless, asshole ways. It’s absolutely fascinating how much I don’t like you. I like everyone. I even like my asshole ex that cheated on me over you…which is pretty odd since I don’t even personally know you. The best part of this evening is that you weren’t even up for THIS award and yet you still have a problem with the outcome. Is winning a moon man that much of a life goal?? You can have mine if it will shut you up. Is it that important, really??

I was actually nominated in the same category that Taylor won and I was excited for her…so why can’t you be?? I’m not even mad at you for being an asshole…I just pity you because you’re a sad human being.

With all of the haterade that I feed Aubz, I sometimes forget that she is talented in something other than posing in barely any clothes. Her voice is good in this song, and I don't mind the song as a whole... It's just a weird concept to me.

Does it bother anyone else that Miley is singing about listening to a Jay Z song?! I'm a little split on this song. I think it could be really good, but it kinda bothers me that it's her singing it. Hmph.


The Newjacks--> Magnetize Me

These guys are finally debuting their first album! This is one of the first songs on the album, and it samples President Obama which is totally cool. I'm a fan. PLUS! Half of these guys is totally from the DMV! +10 points!

These ladies are from the UK [and have a totally wack name, but whatever] and definitely have that UK sound. I like it, though! I'm boppin' my shoulders and stuff which is always a good sign!

I think I'm gettin' back into this kind of music for some reason. It's a little cheesy and will probably be in some corny teenage movie, but I don't hate it!

If you can't continue your Pop career, go country, right?! I mean, Michelle was with the Wreckers who made great country but uh... Nah. This isn't my favorite song.

I absolutely love that she's still around, for the record. Growing up I always heard Mom playing her, Gloria Estefan, and Celine Dion. Unfortunately, the other 2 aren't really in the music world anymore. Reba is, and she's still got it, big time!

nifty: tons of things for today

As I said in my last post, I have found so many nifty things today that it'd be silly for them all to have their own posts.

I'm going to consider this my Wishlist for today, July 16, 2009.

1. Billy Mays Cubee Craft

Okay, so this isn't anything expensive or that neat, but I like Billy Mays. And I miss him.


2. iTie

No more not having a way to sneak in some music while you're in the office, at a meeting, etc! This tie has a pocket on the backside just for your iPod and it makes it super easy to run the wires up/through your shirt and into your ears without your boss noticing a thing! Genius.


3. Chia Obama

I mean, do I really need to explain why this is awesome?! It's freakin' SWEET! The video that greets you on the website is pretty funny, too.


4. iBum Chair

Okay, so this is really pretty creepy, and I'm not sure how comfortable it could really be, but whatever! Imagine if you had this in your house without someone knowing what it was, and you totally blackmailed them! Ohh, that'd be some sweet, sweet revenge. It could also get very X-rated, obviously.


5. Beer Can Tab Bottle Opener

Completely random, but so sweet. It's also a magnet! I like how Nerd Approved explained it and I don't know if I can say it any better: "Give your refrigerator the same look as your kitchen counters the day after a big party, the only difference being that this one is actually useful." So great. I wish I was still in college. [Woah. That sounds weird to say.]

watch: obama is here to save the day

I feel like I've had a lot of talks lately about how Obama is a cool dude, but a letdown. [For the record, I'm still a fan.... But I am wondering when everything will seem to sort out...]

Mom mentioned today she heard someone say Obama stands for One Bad Ass Mistake, America. That's terrible.

Watching this video does make me chuckle, though. Man, if I believe that any man can save the world while taking his family out to dinner and having regular date nights, it's GOTTA be Barack Obama!



Props to whoever made this. It's probably going to open a lot of eyes. And mouths for that matter, when it comes to laughing. [Okay, lame line, I know.]

watch: obama is a human fly swatter

Does anyone else still look at Obama and go, "Wow, this guy is really our President?!" Because I do. He seems so real and relaxed and whatever else to be a president... But I guess maybe that's a good thing?!

Anyways, during a CNBC interview, he demonstrated another one of his skills that not many people can do, and you don't expect to see him do... But he does it, and he's darn proud of it.

What'd he do? Kill a fly.



He's seriously proud of his accomplishment! What a nerd! [Just kidding.. Duh... Kinda....] I love it, though!

obama vs. american idol

Adam Lambert is getting too much mention on here in the past 48 hours, and I'm not so happy about it, but whatever.

Last night Obama addressed the nation on ABC, CBS, NBC and Univision networks.... Everywhere but FOX. They had more important things to do... The Idol elimination show with Taylor Hicks, Jamie Foxx and Natalie Cole all performing.

In case you didn't know, American Idol is still doing pretty great in the ratings-- #1. So even if you don't watch it, a lot of people do, and not airing Obama wouldn't hurt the network much.

In fact, 22 million people watched Obama on all of those networks COMBINED. 21.8 million people tuned in for AI.

That's pretty crazy. The same amount of people watched the President and a reality TV show... Just sayin'.

nifty: michelle obama is fake

It's gotta be cool to see yourself turn into a wax figure. I guess celebrities have it done all of the time, but that's different than this new one for some reason. Michelle Obama is the latest to enter into Madam Tussauds in DC!

I think of her as more of a "real person," and I think she'd think this is amazing when she saw it, rather than "FINALLY there's a wax version of me!"

meet bo: your first dog

The Obamas have finally brought a dog into the White House!


The media has been going completely nutso the past week trying to break the news, but most of it ended up being false. [Sometimes the early bird DOESN'T get the worm..] Now it's official-- Little Bo is in the House.


He's a Portuguese Water Dog and was given to the Obamas as a gift from Ted Kennedy. They say they named him Bo after singer Bo Diddley, and that it's also the nickname for Michelle's dad. I think it's all a lie. I think Bo stands for.. Well, Barack Obama. Duh. [Is the black and white thing mean somethin' too or am I reading WAY to into this?!]

Either way, the thing is cute. And I don't think he'll be biting any journalists like Bush's did.

In honor of Glamour Magazine's 70th anniversary, several female celebs got together and posed as iconic women of the past 70 years.

The people they got to do it are very different from one another.. It's a great variety. Not sure if I love some of the picks, but Alicia Keys makes a GREAT Michelle Obama, and I'm totally okay with Alexis Bledel as Rosie the Riveter and Hayden Panettiere looks good [as always] as Amelia Earhart.

I am NOT okay with Lindsay Lohan being Madonna. There really wasn't anyone else?!

And there was no Marilyn Monroe. Weird?

ugh

I've made it clear that I love the fact that Barack Obama is pretty involved with sports, most specifically football. And every time people have asked him a question about it, I think I've been ecstatic with his answer. Today, not so much.

When asked who he wanted to win the Super Bowl, he chose the Steelers.

Here's why I have a couple problems with this. First of all, he said he's been a long time fan of the Steelers. By saying that, he's classified into my top 10 pet peeves of football fans. He's hopped on the bandwagon, AND said he's a fan of two different teams. Support however many you want, but be a fan of one.

Sure, he said it's because the owner supported him, and Franco Harris did some campaigning, but whatever. Barack Obama is an incredible "Cinderella Story" and therefore I think he should support those of the same level. :)

This is what he said exactly:

"I have to say, you know, I wish the Cardinals the best. Kurt Warner is a great story and he's closer to my age than anybody else on the field, but I am a long-time Steelers fan. Mr. Rooney, the owner, was just an extraordinary supporter during the course of the campaign. Franco Harris was campaigning for me in Pittsburgh. So ... So I – you know, I wish the best to the Cardinals. They've been long-suffering; it's a great Cinderella story. But other than the Bears, the Steelers are probably the team that's closest to my heart."

Maybe this will just give the Cards a bigger boost and be like, "We'll show Mr. President that EVERYONE'S dreams can come true this year."

Then you'll have to congratulate them and say you were wrong for the first time, B. I hope you won't mind doing that.

toughen up, DC!

If you live in the DMV, you know that when snow comes your way, the town is about to freak their freak.

Sometimes schools are CLOSED just because it's 20 degrees out and a 10% chance of snow. Then they proceed to dump this SAND [no, not salt.. It seems to be more like a beach out here on these roads] all over the roads. Everyone suddenly doesn't know how to drive, and if they are, it's like they're off-roading on the beach.

So, when Barack Obama basically called DMV-ers a bunch of p-words, I can't say I blame him. I actually completely agree.

Before a press conference, he wanted to talk about the weather.. And how his daughters' school was cancelled for.. Ice?

I've said it once. I've said it twice. I might have even said it three or four times. But ya know what? I'm going to say it again.

This latest one isn't exactly HER song, though. This time we have a little switch up with the words, but still the same ol' "great" dancing.

And, get this.. It's all about CHANGE! Imagine that! And the title is something like "If You Voted For Me.."
