I think my heart stopped in excitement when I saw that #welcometotheDMV was trending and it wasn't talking about Department of Motor Vehicles. I felt like I was home again, but homesick at the same time.

When I started reading the tweets, I realized just how ghetto gangstaaa my home really is. It was N-bomb this, bitch that, mi$sp3ll!ng$ everwhere... Embarrassing.

Most of it was people bonding and RTing things that really aren't something to be proud about, yet they were excited. I understand bonding over a common enemy is sometimes the best kind, but they were acting like this stuff was good!

Anyway, I still take a LOT of pride in saying I'm from the DMV, and there were some quality, 100% truth tweets that I saw while I was looking. Here are some of the "best":

real world las vegas update: meet leroy and heather

Tweet It's been a while since I've been able to update you on the upcoming season of Real World: Back in Las Vegas. I have 2 more roommates to introduce you to [which only leaves one "mystery"] and a few fun little spoilers.

Meet Leroy Garrett and Heather Cooke:

Leroy is from Romulus, Michigan, and apparently "loves to party, have fun, and most of all hook up with chicks." People are saying he moved to Dallas recently, so if any of my Texans recognize him, you know what to do. By the looks of his pics, I'd say he's going to be a huge dbag.. but "ya can't judge a book by its cover." ...Yea, whatever.

Heather is the replacement for Adam who got kicked out after 4 weeks of filming [and yes, is the second Heather in the house.] She turns 22 on Christmas day, half Filipino, half white, and is from California, MD! Another DMV local! She went to Leonardtown High and played soccer for Layola Maryland. Apparently she was working in DC as a junior program analyst for Amelex before heading out to Sin City! DMV REPRESENT!


As for what's been goin' on:

• The cast got to go on vacation this season! They went back to Cancun.
• Adam returned to Vegas [probably for pictures, but maybe something else too]
• Adam is on Twitter, but won't tell you a thing.
• Filming is probably going to wrap up sometime this week or early next week
• "Nani" is still missing. If you know anything about this chic, or anyone for that matter, feel free to email me.

Now we'll sit back and relax and just wait for the show to air. Hopefully it won't be too long of a wait since Cut Throat is coming to an end.

EXCLUSIVE real world back to vegas update: meet roommate michael ross

Tweet Ohh, I feel so scandalous and stalker-like again! I've got some deets on a roommate in the Real World: Back to Las Vegas suite thanks to some sleuthing and mutual friends!

Those of you in the DMV may have heard of him. He's Michael "Mike" Ross, former Woodbridge, VA Catholic school boy [Aquinas, for you locals], apparently went to Brentsville High for a little while, and is now living the dream in Vegas.

Some more deets:

• He's 23
• Goes to school at University of Maryland [and I assume is graduating relatively soon]
• President of the Undergraduate Communications Association at UMD
  
• Seems to have a few "hometowns"- moved a lot
  
• Single
• Jewish and conservative. So conservative, this was one of his Facebook statuses:
• And apparently he was the President of UMD Students Against National Healthcare
• The mutual friends have told me he's crazy, hyper, and going to be interesting to watch, no matter what first impressions may give off... So we shall see.

watch etv: i took the dc trapeze class!

All last summer I kept asking all of my followers if they wanted to try the trapeze class that's in the middle of DC... No one ever seemed to think I was serious.

I was. 100%. And I finally found someone to go with me while I was home for the weekend- My big sister.

In just two hours, they expected me to be able to hang upside down and and be caught by a guy 6 inches shorter than me..... What?!

If you didn't know, July 31st is National Dance Day!! Exciting, right?! What's more exciting: The peeps from So You Think You Can Dance are trying to get flash mobs ACROSS THE NATION!

You know these are my favorite things ever. You know I've been trying to be a part of one for SO long.

Now's the chance to make it happen.

DC Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes-Norton already approved the idea to do it at Malcolm X Meridian Park with special guest Nigel Lythgoe! DC kids- BE THERE. Tape it. Send it to me. I credit you. We all smile.

local high schoolers' analogies are funny

It's been said several times throughout the last 5+ years that Maryland has the best school systems, with Virginia placing 3rd or 4th.

...You'd think that would mean our kids are pretty damn smart, right?!

Well... There's this website that looks at analogies that real high schoolers in the area have included in their papers. [By area, I mean the DMV... With many coming from right here in NoVA.]

Here are some of my favorites:

• Her face was a perfect oval, like a circle that had its two other Sides gently compressed by a Thigh Master. [Washington]
• His thoughts tumbled in his head, making and breaking alliances like underpants in a dryer without Cling Free. [Woodbridge]
• Her hair glistened in the rain like nose hair after a sneeze. [Woodbridge]

update: what they've really done to the real world dc house

For months we've been playing the guessing game of what the H is going to happen to the Real World DC house now that they're gone [and the show is almost over].

Well, as I drove around DC the other night and my friends said they wanted to see the house because they never have [some friends they are, right?!], we moseyed our way to 2000 S Street. I jumped out and immediately ran behind the gate so I could get some pictures of me at the house, but then I realized something new and different about the house:

Yes. You're eyes are seeing correctly. The RWDC house is now the HIV house.

How.... appropriate?

I don't know what all that entails, but I know it's offices within the top 2 floors of the house, which means good news for me!

Well, hopefully good news. It means a restaurant can still move in downstairs, and I can still go on a date with Mike or someone as they take me into their [former] home.

It's kinda crazy because some of the stuff that was obviously there for the show is still in the house, and a lot of the walls are still painted. I hope the restaurant keeps it fancy like that.

There ya have it. Mystery= Halfway solved. How do you feel about it?! Emily's pretty happy with it.

watch: hilarious shamrockfest videos

Shamrockfest may have been last weekend, and for once I was totally on-the-ball and posted my video right away!, but some people are just posting things and they're absolutely hilarious.

Unfortunately I didn't really see anything too off-the-wall, but RFK definitely brought out the crazy in some people... Like these guys:

watch eTV: shamrockfest 2010 at rfk, from my eyes

As many of you know, though I've lived right outside of DC since I was born, I never really stepped foot into the city [unless I was going on a school field trip or to see the chimps at the zoo] until about two years ago when I had my internships.

Therefor, I never experienced the things DC loves. AKA things like Shamrockfest.

Last year everyone from HOT 99.5 kept telling me to come home for it but I had no interest in doing so.

This year I decided to stop being stupid, gather up some friends, find some ponchos, and head down to RFK Stadium in the rain with some 30,000 other people and get hammered drunk have some good ol' fashioned Irish fun.

Here's what the day, which was full of ridiculousness just as I imagined it would be, was like from my perspective... With the help of lots of equally drunk people.



For the record: I'm mad I missed LMFAO. I'm mad they were first on the schedule of events. I loved the HOT 99.5 tent and its ridiculous dance parties. I loved Mr. Greengenes. I hated paying 20 dollars for 3 beers.

I'd like to say thank you to all of the random people who were fun enough to yell into my camera without asking any questions.
To the guys who obnoxiously made fun of me after doing it saying "OMGGG FACEBOOKKK MEEEE"- Facebook videos are so 2008. This is on love, elizabethany, a-holes! ;)

So recently, many players have left DC for new homes in all different sports. The Redskins let go of ten veterans, the Wizards recently let go of some of their top talents, and the Georgetown University is having trouble in basketball this year due to lack of recruiting.

So, in order to bring in some new names, I decided to make a little list of all the reasons D.C. is the place to be when it comes to playing a professional, or collegiate, sport.

the real world dc house shall be a restaurant

Everyone's been asking: What's going to happen to the Real World DC house?! I've gone by it, it's all gutted out, but it doesn't look like anything is set up.

Well, it looks like one of the businesses entering the corner mansion will be a restaurant!

They say it has great potential for outdoor seating [though I'm not exactly sure where they're talking about having more than two tables] and it'll bring lots of people wanting to finally make it into the house!

One thing is for sure: If they do turn it into a restaurant, you can bet your bottom dollar that I will absolutely be there on opening day to finally make it into that freakin' house.

Who cares if it's not the same as it was during the summer? Maybe I can get Ty or Mike to take me on a date of sorts.

[Yeah... Wishful thinking, right?! Hmph.]

the real world dc: as we saw it, week 8!

Another episode has been seen around the world, but now it's time to talk about it with the cast, no editing, no professionals, just real people.

Last night's episode was a great mix of a couple different stories, thank GOODNESS. As many of the roommates said, it was absolutely one of the best episodes of this season thus far.

Also exciting: The introduction of Wicked Liquid.

It only made sense to talk to Josh this week to have him give a deeper look into the band and respond to all of the haters that have been all over Twitter, my chat, and my YouTube.



BTW- We recorded two more podcasts tonight with the roommates that we have not yet talked to! They'll be put up sporatically in the next week, so stay tuned!

watch: more of dc's snowpocalypse '10

Just about my whole life I've always said I wanted to move to a small town, where everyone knows each other, just like in "Sweet Home Alabama."

If this whole experience I've been living the past 6-8 months hasn't changed my mind, the Snowpocalypse and this video definitely have.



Sure, I made a really great igloo, and had a fun weekend being snowed in with my cussaholic BFF, but look at how much fun the city was! People were everywhere doing a bunch of different things! There's no such thing as getting snowed in there!

That video should definitely make everyone appreciate the snow, no matter how much we may be starting to hate it. Thank you, Nathan Golon and Jordan Gantz!

watch: snowmageddon 2010

All of us in the Northeast of the US really hate the word "snow" right now. Either that, or we're obsessed with it. We've inserted it into any word that could remotely make sense.

Snowmageddon, snowpocalypse, snowgasm, snotorious BIG, snOMG, snowdiculous... I can't even begin to think of them all right now.

It's the obvious theme on Twitter right now and there's no stopping it. Once something's a trending topic, good luck getting people to stop talking about it any time soon.

So, consider this me jumping on the bandwagon.

And this is probably the coolest video I've seen and was hoping someone had made one! The DCist recorded the whole weekend storm and sped it up.



I'm petrified. I feel like I'm watching something rise from the ground, and it's coming to kill me.

And just when I thought I could convince myself that wasn't the case, Darrin proved my initial thoughts right. This blizzard is absolutely coming to kill all of DC.



Brace yourselves, my friends. Do not go outside. Do not leave your beds. It will only result in death or serious injury.

the dc snowgasm of 2010

ATTENTION PEOPLE OF THE DMV! In case you didn't know, there is MORE snow coming our way within the next couple of hours and into tomorrow. The Snowpocalypse isn't going anywhere.

For those of you outside the DMV area- DC has been hit pretty hard with snow this winter. Yes, harder than our average 6 inches for the entire season, and even more than places that normally get a lot of snow.

In my own estimation... I think it's safe to assume we've gotten over 5 feet of snow as of now.

Today: 10-20 more inches. Fabulous.

This is no reason to panic, though! In fact, it's a reason to celebrate! If not celebrate, it's definitely time to enjoy the beauty that is snow in DC.

All of these pictures [except for one, obvi] are thanks to my friends at MyFoxDC. I heart them. A lot.

So stop stressing. Don't run out to the grocery store like a madwoman. Don't be angry because you can't get anything done. Sit back. Relax. Enjoy the scenery and a few days off. You need it.

watch eTV: my igloo during snowpocalypse 2009

All of my DMV readers are well aware of this crazy winter we've been having and the two "Snowpocalypses" we've had.

Ya see... The DC area never really gets any snow. This year we've had two storms with 2 feet or more of snow, and plenty of mini storms in-between.

I know it's been over a month since our last one at the end of December, but like my motto says: Better late than never.

That being said, I'm here to show you our freakin' FANTASTIC igloo that we made back in December. Mikey P started by crawling through a big snow mound, but then magic happened in my imagination. I grabbed my dad and cussaholic BFF and we built an igloo big enough for a 3+ person party.

Be jealous. That sucker stayed up for a good week. I wanted to open Christmas presents in there, but apparently it wasn't been enough for Santa. Lame.

This weekend's Snowpocalypse was way bigger, and even left me stranded at my cussaholic BFF's house for the weekend. That video of ridiculous debauchery will be up by next week. Oh boy.

Ahh! We're ONE EPISODE away from the halfway mark!
This week we finally saw a little more job action, but more importantly- less Ty/Emily, and a pretty yucky fight between Ashley and Andrew.
