watch: remembering 2002

We've already lived through 1999 again, but now it's time to fast forward 3 years to 2002, when everything was beginning to change forever:

• Technology is now real: Small Nokia phones and iPods are introduced
• Reality TV starts to take over
• Boy bands have faded out
• A white rapper has the highest selling album of the year
• Movies are all about sequels, trilogies, and beyond

Just the thumbnail itself aggravates me. I'm team Barbie. Bratz are stupid. 2002 is when the world officially went downhill and started getting rid of the 90s.

Some more facts:

• Nickelback’s "How You Remind Me" is No.1 on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 singles. 
• Justin Timberlake, 30 Seconds to Mars, Norah Jones, N.E.R.D., Cee-Lo Green and Avril Lavigne, release their debut albums.

• Other big films released that year include: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Spider-Man, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Ice Age and My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

Tweet There's been talk of a part 2 to "Love the Way You Lie" [oh boy] on Rihanna's album, and it's finally on the Internet!

It's still a pretty song, but goodNESS, I've really had enough of that chorus. I don't know if I can handle it anymore.

what i think about the 2010 vma's because you care

Tweet I didn't get to watch it on time because of the game, so now I'm a little behind in getting a write-up on here.

I'm going to make this as short and sweet as possible.

First of all- What I think about the fashion and looks on the carpet... Via slideshow/captions:




And now- What I think about the show.

Gabi as the MTV TJ: A lot of people have been asking me what I thought about what she did. You want my honest opinion? Okay, fine. I think she looked amazing, and I think she handled herself well. She was assigned the job of tracking tweets and what everyone was talking about. It wasn't a HUGE role in the show, but for a first gig on MTV, one month after she got hired... I'd say she had the ultimate position and did a damn good job. Sure, I wish I was there... but homegirl is rockin' it, and if anyone deserved that position after a lot of hard work and sacrifices, it's her.

Chelsea Handler as a host: I think someone wrote some pretty corny lines for her, but overall, if you get her humor, she was pretty good! She wasn't as epic as I thought she'd be, but she wasn't anywhere near as bad as some are saying. I wouldn't mind her being the host again. Plus- she looked beautiful. Her skit with Jersey Shore- Lame. With Lindsay Lohan- totally cool because LiLo looked put together which made me smile.

Eminem/Rihanna: You should know I'm not a huge Eminem fan, and if I hear "Love the Way You Lie" one more time, I'M going to start some domestic violence. BUT... Eminem rocked it. He was into it, he was real, it felt good. Rihanna and her bright red hair were beautiful, she sang great, and she was clearly in the moment, too. Great start to the show! Watch if you haven't:




Justin Bieber: Everyone's freaking out because he didn't sing. Shut up. He put on a good show, with some crazy dance moves, and rocked out on the drums, which I had no idea he could do. He's a talented kid, but he's a kid. He used a handicap. Don't use it against him. He's too cute for you to do that, anyway. It's worth watching:




Usher: He sang, he danced, he kicked it old school... Kinda. The visuals [in every performance, really] were pretty freakin' neat, and his dancing is always on point. He was also singing, which wasn't perfect, but that's not what matters. Anyone who likes Usher should definitely watch.


Taylor Swift: Why do people still let her perform on award shows?! SERIOUSLY. She's terrible. She's boring. She can't sing. It's miserable to watch. It's so bad I won't even tell you to watch for a good laugh. She didn't get a good "comeback" to Kanye, nor did she entertain anyone. Epic fail.


Bruno Mars, B.o.B., and Hayley Williams... and Paramore: I'm becoming a big fan of Bruno Mars and B.o.B... Hayley... She's a meh to me for now. The group put on a great, quick collabo, though. She sounded real rough in the beginning, but pulled it together by the end with her band. I'd say it's worth your time:




Drake: I also don't understand why there's so much hype around him and his performances. If you want to say he's a genius and his songs are great.. fine... but his performances are always boring. If it weren't for Mary J. and the awesome visual effects, I would have fallen asleep watching it. Don't bother.


Kanye: A toast to all the douchebags?! Uh.. YES PLEASE! As much as I'm disappointed in the lack of an OMG moment, his red suit with the plain white stage and background were pretty phenomenal. It could be the first performance/song of Kanye's that I thoroughly enjoy. I think you should enjoy it, too. [Plus, the intro from Aziz is freakin' perfect]:




I think that's probably about all there is to talk about besides Gaga's "meat moment." I like what she stands for, I like her purpose in life, I like that she reps her "little monsters" to the fullest. I don't like her going ridiculously over the top like she does and did last night, but when she sang a quick preview of her new song/album, I couldn't help but give her props. Girl's got talent... Just wish she didn't mask it with all the other weirdness.




In conclusion ;) There were no moments that will have us talking for the next year. There were no moments that will have us saying "OMG REMEMBER THE 2010 VMA's!!!" In that sense, the show sucked. If you compare it to other award shows, it's still pretty awesome and entertaining.. minus the same three people winning all of the awards.

celebs were in yearbooks too

My mind has been obsessing over the idea of what I would look like if I had a make-up and hair stylist lately. I think about how all the celebrities look terrible without makeup on but the most amazingly beautiful people on the red carpet. That could be me!

Anyway, to further prove my point, 10 of the craziest yearbook pictures were released last week of some of your favorite celebrities. Some of them you're not going to believe, but you should!

Probably more annoying than embarrassing.

What's today?! TUESDAY! So I now present to you the first Tunes on Tuesday of August 2009.

Aubrey O'Day--> Party All the Time



With all of the haterade that I feed Aubz, I sometimes forget that she is talented in something other than posing in barely any clothes. Her voice is good in this song, and I don't mind the song as a whole... It's just a weird concept to me.


Miley Cyrus--> Party In The USA



Does it bother anyone else that Miley is singing about listening to a Jay Z song?! I'm a little split on this song. I think it could be really good, but it kinda bothers me that it's her singing it. Hmph.


The Newjacks--> Magnetize Me

These guys are finally debuting their first album! This is one of the first songs on the album, and it samples President Obama which is totally cool. I'm a fan. PLUS! Half of these guys is totally from the DMV! +10 points!


Booty Luv--> Say It



These ladies are from the UK [and have a totally wack name, but whatever] and definitely have that UK sound. I like it, though! I'm boppin' my shoulders and stuff which is always a good sign!


Eminem--> The Warning



WOWZERS!!! Uh... I think he wins. He wasn't even being nonchalant about it! He straight calls out Mariah for her song "Obsessed." He's got phone calls and stuff? Busting on her belly?! YIKES! And are those clips of her talking?! SHOOOTTT.. No more hating on Em for me! He's GOT IT!


Fabolous ft. Keri Hilson--> Everything, Everywhere, Everyday



Hmmm... Not much to say about this song except that I don't mind it. I kinda enjoy it, even.


Jay Z ft. Rihanna and Kanye West--> We Run This



It's no surprise these 3 are doing a song together... They are 2 of the main RiRi supporters during the Chrihanna scandal. It's pretty good. I enjoy it.


All Time Low--> Damned If I Do Ya



I think I'm gettin' back into this kind of music for some reason. It's a little cheesy and will probably be in some corny teenage movie, but I don't hate it!


Madonna--> Celebration



So Madonna's back, eh?! I'm... Not very impressed. That's all I'll say.


Michelle Branch--> Sooner or Later



If you can't continue your Pop career, go country, right?! I mean, Michelle was with the Wreckers who made great country but uh... Nah. This isn't my favorite song.


Reba--> Consider Me Gone



I absolutely love that she's still around, for the record. Growing up I always heard Mom playing her, Gloria Estefan, and Celine Dion. Unfortunately, the other 2 aren't really in the music world anymore. Reba is, and she's still got it, big time!

What do you think it's about at first listen?

I'll tell you what... I definitely didn't think it was about Eminem... But apparently it is.

When shooting her video today, she was dressed in drag and looking a lot like Mr. Slim Shady. Apparently it's a huge feud that's been going on [That most people sorta know/knew about] and she's finally getting her comeback.

Not sure how I feel about the video and this look, but to each their own, right?! I think it's clever and hilarious, but I can only imagine how Eminem will take it a couple steps further.

Oh boy. This could get ridiculous. Keep your eyes peeled, people.

What a big day this is!! It's my 1000th official post, it's Cinco de Mayo AND it's Tunes on Tuesday! How exciting!

Let's start this off with a big premiere: Eminem--> 3AM



What a creepy video. Very... Different. And another mention of KK's ass. Imagine that. I don't know, man... I think Eminem lost his touch.


Jeremy Greene ft. Pitbull--> Rain



Another movie-like music video. Also, this beat is really familiar. What is it? Imma Put It On Her?! It's something. I'm not mad at it, I kinda like this song. Definitely downloadable.


Jada--> American Cowboy



Ooh, I like this one. Downloaded, check! They're hott, too. And for some reason I like the lyrics. Check-check-check.


Jibbs ft. Lloyd--> My Dedication (Ay DJ)



I'm not a gigantic fan of this song, but it's not my type, really. I don't know if I see it getting huge, but it's worth checking out.


Asher Roth--> Be By Myself



I hear his album is amazing, and he really is about to take over. He sounds a lot like Eminem to me, so you think he will take his spot as everyone's favorite white rapper? I think it's possible! His video is different in a creative way. I enjoy it.


Method Man and Redman--> A-Yo



Apparently this is going to be some big song... I don't get it personally, but if they say it will be, I figure I'll share it with you here.


Huey ft. Bobby Valentino--> PaYow



Alright, I can see this one doing pretty well. It's nothing like "OMG DOWNLOAD NOW!" but it has something about it that's worth listening to.. At least a couple of times. However... The lyrics. Yikes.


Tinted Windows--> Kind of a Girl



It's their first single [Obviously.. Have you ever heard of them? Not I.] and it's got an interesting sound to it. Not terrible by any means..


Pussycat Dolls--> Hush Hush



I really like this. I like the lyrics, I like the slow-ishness, I like it all. I hope the rumor of them breaking up isn't true... As much as I think it's inevitable.


Martina McBride--> I Just Call You Mine



This is such a cute song, and she's an amazing singer. Anything she does is great, I think. This is no exception.


Luke Bryan--> Do I

What a great song. I think this is his best, for sure! It's a guy asking what to do for once, which is cool. Country fan? Download it. Now.

watch: eminem is back

Guess who's back... Back again... Shady's back...! [Had to.]

He has released his first video in... Well, what feels like forever! It's the first one off of his new album, and it's called "We Made You."

He's back to all of his old antics, too. Ya know, like making fun of everyone in Hollywood. This time he got Jessica Alba, Kim Kardashian, Sam Ronson, Amy Winehouse, Lindsay Lohan, Star Trek, Bret Michaels, Sarah Palin, Tony Romo, Elvis, Jason Mraz, the Transformers, Portia de Rossi, and my girls Ellen and Britney. [First name basis, duh.]



A lot of this is kinda old news though. I mean, we're over Sarah Palin [thank goodness] and everything that he does make fun of, others made fun of a year or so ago. It's kinda funny, but the funniest part is at the end. I guess that's what happens when you wait 2398472 years to release your next album.
