photo diary: jingle ball 2013

Is it really over?! I've been looking forward to this year's Jingle Ball before I even knew I'd be working for the station...

It was easily the biggest event I've ever been a part of. Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus, Flo Rida, Enrique Iglesias, Jason Derulo, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Austin Mahone, and Fifth Harmony were in the building to perform, along with over 10,000 people to watch and some big wigs of the company.

For the first two hours, I was handing out free tickets to just about anyone who came by a tent outside the venue. I tweeted about it, but people thought I was kidding. Sucks to be you if you didn't come get some freebies.

Then we rushed into the broadcast room where we were doing our shows live from backstage and interviewing all the artists! Unfortunately, I missed out in some of them because of timing issues, but I did get to talk to Austin Mahone! As far as I can tell with his body language and reactions... he's definitely dating someone on the tour... or at least has one of those "when I get the balls, I'm gonna ask her out" crushes.

I decided selfies were the way to go for the night... 

....until I ran into Enrique and this happened... but didn't have a chance to retake it.

Everything was super planned out which was a very new experience to me. I'm used to a bit of a messy situation/schedule backstage full of boozy people... so next I rushed to the stage to get ready to announce Flo Rida with Kane. He asked me if I had looked out at the stadium yet.... and when I did.. 

...I freaked! In a good way, luckily. I wasn't nervous, just amazed. HOW IS THIS MY LIFE?! 

This was my view of the show, which looked pretty freaky when Fall Out Boy's fire was all crazy.

Full circle moment... from Kane Show intern, to officially introduced by him as the new night jock. Woah.

We decided to capture the moment with this... thanks Kane!

Robin Thicke happened to be walking by and I was all "Hey, Robin..." and he responds with something along the lines of "of course we can take a picture with you and that dress!"

So obviously we took a prom picture, right after I teased him about getting his swoon on without me having to ask for it at all.

I was also really pumped to finally get to hang with the girls of The Kane Show! We got to introduce Enrique together, so we obviously shared stories of sexy boys ahead of time.

This was honestly one of my favorite moments. I was walking down the hall, following Miley, and she runs into Jordin Sparks and Jason and they talk about how they're hunting down different people who are performing but don't know how to find them yadda yadda. It's just neat to see them all be friends outside of cameras etc. 

I didn't get to see much of the show because of everything going on in the back... but based on the pictures, stories of Flo making it rain with real dollars, Enrique going into the crowd, fans twerking on stage.... It sounds like it was pretty incredible. I also got to hear all about it when I was back in the studio for the end of the show, when everyone called in to share how exciting it was. 

As for what I wore, I got my dress from Kohl's! It's by JLo, it's got some sparkles, but was totally "winter," covered some massive bruises I got over the weekend, and paired perfectly with my new red shoes from Marshall's and red lips. 

So I guess I have to wait 360-some days for the next one to happen which is just torture... but luckily I like my job every day.

where are they now?: disney channel original sidekicks

There's no way I remember any of these characters' names [okay, that's a lie... I totally remember some], and they tend to be forgotten pretty easily... so let's remember them. Put 'em in the spotlight. Show 'em some love.. on here and Twitter.

Lizzie McGuire: 


Adam Lamberg AKA Gordo. He looks the same, for the most part, and has only got 5200 followers on Twitter, and has commented on Miley just like a lot of these peeps.

LaLaine AKA Miranda. She also looks the exact same and has also made comments about Miley on her Twitter.


Jake Thomas, AKA Matt. He's been in some episodes of CSI and is filming Storytellers right now. He's slacking on the followers too, but seems to be the same little Matt we knew on Vine.


Even Stevens: 


AJ Trauth AKA Twitty. He was most recently in a show called Ro. It's a shame I can't find him on Twitter cuz I'd like to ask him if he'll marry me with his sexiness.


Margo Harshman, AKA Tawny. She was on an episode of NCIS this season, and only has 6000 followers.


Hannah Montana: [seems like they've all got a case of the Miley....]


Moises Arias AKA Rico. He's gone all gangsta in this pic and full grown-man nose. He's the voice of Antonio in Despicable Me and he's doing pretty good on Twitter. He's also BFF's with Jaden Smith.


Mitchel Musso AKA Oliver. Look at him just bein a badass with tats... but he still seems super goofy on Twitter. He's still stickin' with Disney, and is a voice on Phineas and Ferb.

Jewel Staite, AKA Becca, is on the show "The Killing." Her follower count is pretty damn good, and so are her tweets:

Cara DeLizia AKA Fiona hasn't really done much in the past few years, and is MIA on Twitter. DID SOMETHING HAPPEN?!

Patrick Levis AKA Jack has become an adorable family man with under 200 followers! He's also into music, but doesn't seem to be acting anymore.

There are obviously some I'm forgetting, but I think they're the ones that either no one cares about, or are around all the time anyway. 

It's crazy how they all grow up, isn't it?! Brings a tear to my eye.

Tweet What does Miley do for her first magazine photoshoot since she turned 18? She shows a little side-boob in Marie Claire!

I know, I know... She's 18, she's allowed to be hott. And you're right! Minus her awkwardly and obviously pulling her dress down to show it off, she looks smokin'! But as each day goes by, her appearance becomes less and less "SO Miley." The one we know, anyway.

In the article, they addressed the bong incident:

Miley: I'm not perfect ... I made a mistake ... I'm disappointed in myself for disappointing my fans ...
MC: But do you really think it was a mistake? Obviously college kids your age all over America are smoking bongs with a lot more than salvia in them.
Miley: But they're not Miley Cyrus. They're not role models. So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for.

At least she knows why it was wrong. It's exactly why it was such a big deal. As much as I love her, and I understand everyone grows up, when you're in the entertainment business, you have to sort of live for your fans. It's what you chose to do, and what you're supposed to understand.

So put a smile back on your face, girl! Be all happy and bubbly and cheerful and OMG SOOO MILEY! I miss that girl. The girl before she became too cool.

Apparently it actually took 5 days after she turned 18 to get higher than Britney Spears and become the dumbest celebrity out there.

She got high off salvia and let her friends INTERVIEW AND RECORD her!



Okay so I about fell out of my chair from laughing so hard, but WHAT AN IDIOT!!!!

I'm sure she was thinking "if I let my friends record me and leak this to the internet, I won't be thought of as the Disney chic anymore."

watch: kanye and a miley impression on snl

Tweet I've never been a big watcher of Saturday Night Live. I normally just rely on the Internet to fill me in the next day.

That's what I did this week, and now I'm going to fill you in because it's worth it.

First of all- Kanye was on this week, and he [of course] performed "Runaway."



Really, Kanye? The same outfit? The same backdrop? All you did was add a couple ballerinas to spice it up a little bit?

Here I am worried about wearing the same outfit to work twice, and he's wearing the same eye-catching suit to two of his biggest performances of the year.

I'm not impressed.

What is impressive- Vanessa Bayer's Miley impression. It's spot on.



I don't know about the head tilt up thing, but everything else couldn't have been better. Agreed?

Who was the star of the show? Kanye or Vanessa? I say Vanessa... just sayin'.

miley's gone real, real bad for her new movie

TweetEveryone should know I'm a big fan of Miley, but all this becoming uber-slut so soon thing is not okay with me.

Whether she likes it or not, she started on the Disney Channel, and she needs to respect her younger fans. Instead, she's taking a role in a movie that is a bit controversial, to say the least.

Apparently Lola [AKA Miley] loses her virginity, smokes pot, gets wasted, kisses girls on the lips, and shows her mom Ana, played by actress Demi Moore, her Brazilian wax in her new movie "LOL: Laughing Out Loud."

Yikes.

The movie sounds like a good plot, though:

"The film focuses on communication gap between Lola and her mother, due to the increasing use of YouTube, iTunes and Facebook. Lola's mom, Anne, "accidentally" reads her teenage daughter's racy journal and dicovers Lola's wild ways."

It's supposed to debut next year, but expect lots of criticizing people. I'll probably be joining them.

tim halperin performs in studio

Tweet I've been pretty pumped and tweeting about this for a few weeks, but finally the day came! Remember the AWESOME one take music video I posted a couple weeks ago?! The singer is Tim Halperin, he's living in Dallas/Fort Worth, and does shows in College Station! AWESOME!

He's doing a sorority tour right now [mmhmmmm] and was in College Station last night, so he stopped by for an in-studio interview and performance!

What's really awesome: He's been featured on Real World New Orleans TWICE! He got an email that he'd be featured and then probably had all the same feelings I did when he saw his name on the TV for the first time. [But I'll let him tell you that story in the podcasts below.]

Seriously, I think I'm about to become obsessed with him. He's an amazing singer and totally cool! He even told me I was "dabomb.com," not once, but twice.

DEFINITELY take a listen to the podcast interview [I call him a slut and find out what it takes to make a viral video] and watch the video of his performance [which included a freakin' AWESOME "Party in the USA" cover!]. You might fall in love too. I also turned his songs into podcasts for your listening pleasure, but you have to subscribe for those.

I missed out on telling you how I feel last week, but I'm not missing out today!

Last night's Idol was... Well.... It was very typical for this season: Not that exciting. The show has officially jumped shark. I don't blame Simon for wanting to leave.

I'll just jump right into it. Let's pretend I'm an Idol judge on last night's show.


Lee Dewyze--> The Letter
Homeboy, you really need to gain some confidence and learn how to SMILE on stage! Man. Your voice is amazing. You're hott. You picked an eh song, but like Ellen said... It's like your favorite pen is back after losing it for a while.

Paige Miles--> Against All Odds
Woah. Girlfriend. That.... was not good. I'm wondering why you're here right now. Coming out on the moving staircase is not going to give the illusion of your worth.

Tim Urban--> Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Haha! I liked the sliding and the performance! It was quirky and fun, but yeah.. The vocals need to step it up a notch.

Aaron Kelly--> Don't Want To Miss A Thing
Great song choice! You weren't so annoying to me tonight! Probably my favorite of yours so far, even though you're sick.

You need to do something to make me go "WOW, this girl has something special." You're just there to me. It started out in a karaoke bar, and it got better, but I'm still not jumping for joy.

Ya know... It sounded exactly like the original, but I'm okay with that! It was awesome and you're also in a league of your own right now. PS: Can we switch hair? I like yours better.

Didi Benami--> You're No Good
Who are you? I forget about you every week. You're forgettable. Nothing stands out to anyone. Step it up, quick.

Siobhan Magnus--> Superstition
You are straight up weird when you talk, but when you sing you come to life in such a fun way! Great performance, great vocals.


On another note, why the H Miley Cyrus was the mentor baffles me. She must have been a last minute option or something because she gave no worthy advice, nor does she know what she's talking about when she does.

Also: The Ellen/Ryan kiss was awesome.

I don't think Paige is going to go home. I think her fanbase will come through big time because she did so terribly. Tim has a lot of little girl fans, I think... Ultimately, I think Didi is forgettable enough to shoot her on outta here.

watch: what miley does to babies

Finally, babies are starting to realize what watching Miley Cyrus videos could do to them and they're afraid of it.

This little girl is starting a revolution against the Hannah Montana world... She's leading the pack.



I am absolutely a fan of Hannah Montana, and Miley is a bit of a guilty pleasure... But little girls should not be watching her.

This little girl should be turned into an educational video for little girls. "How to act when Miley comes on the TV."

Then they can figure out how to sneak into another room and watch her when no one knows like the rest of us.

watch: we are the world 25 for haiti

I know I'm a couple days late getting this up, but I keep thinking today is Monday! Stupid snow and holidays messing me up!

Anyway, it finally aired during the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics! The "We Are The World" remake with 23987 different celebrities coming together to sing what I said earlier would be amazing, epic, etc.

I'm going to go ahead and say that I was right.



Before I watched it, I heard everyone else's thoughts on it. A lot of people really don't like it. They think it shouldn't have been remade, it has too much hip-hop, the auto-tuning is a disgrace... Even Jay Z thinks it's bad.

I can't help but to disagree. If you watch that video with an open mind and really look at everyone's faces, you'll probably tear up a bit. I did, anyway.

Everyone is so happy to be helping out. These people who are nothing but stars to us are showing real emotion as they sing and come together as a huge group. Look at how much fun they're having!

I know I always hate the idea of remakes and sequels to classic songs, but the whole point of "We Are The World" was to help Africa and other countries. I think it's a perfect idea to remake it.

As for the hip-hop/auto-tuning, yea, I think it's a bit awkward in the middle, but it represents the music we have today. We don't have the wholesome music we had 25 years ago. We have Akon, T-Pain, and Lil Wayne on every song on the radio right now. If they didn't take their part in this song, it wouldn't mean the same thing.

All that being said, if you didn't watch the video before really observing these things and appreciating them as they should be, I say watch it again.

Look at the eclectic array of people in that group. Look at Randy have the time of his life. Watch them all almost cry. Watch the youngins look at the surrounding legends. It's pretty amazing, people.

So amazing, that I'm using words like eclectic and array. What the f.

watch: kiis fm staff does miley lip dub video

Apparently these "one take" videos that I have become obsessed with are called "lip dubs." Apparently I'm a little late to jump on the ball. Whatever. Better late than never, right?!

Anyway... The KIIS FM staff in LA made this video to Miley Cyrus' "See You Again" and I fully enjoy it.



As soon as I get a real job [which will hopefully be in the next two weeks- keep your fingers crossed, people!] I plan on doing this, fo sho.

watch: covers of party in the usa

Admit it: Miley Cyrus is your guilty pleasure. She is definitely one of mine, especially this "Party in the USA" song. I swore I hated it, but I lied.

People are lovin' singing it, though. But that's not what I'm posting this for. That'd be stupid.

This girl Brittani Taylor made her own version of the song called "Everything's Gonna Be OK" and it's really good.

It's a tad emotional just because of the video and topics, but overall it's a happy song and she's playing the guitar and singing naturally.



Am I right or am I right?! It's good, right?! Someone give this girl a record deal and let her write some of her own songs now!

Well... With her own beats and stuff, I mean.


On a completely different note... While I was searching for this, I ran into this video that made me giggle. It shouldn't make me giggle, and maybe I'm gonna go to H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks because of it, but oh well.



Woooaaahhhhh homegirl... Don't you know not to put things like that on YouTube?! No bueno. Bahaha... But so good at the same time.

no more twiggys!

[Clearly the UK is a way more interesting country with the amount of things I have been pulling from them lately.]

The UK did a study of some sort to find out what the ideal body types of women are when it comes to a woman's eyes and a man's eyes. It's really no surprise.. Women want to be smaller than what men want. It's all about comparison.

Keeping in mind that they're sizes are one bigger than ours [an 8 is actually a 6..], this is apparently the answer they came up with:

I will agree with the women's ideal on this, I think. As long as she's got some sort of shape when you look at her sideways, the flat tummy is totally desired.

Why does the size 12 look bigger than the 16 to me, though? Hmmm...

Let's take a love, elizabethany poll. We don't do it based on gender because that's annoying... We'll just take the overall average of desired size for a woman.
