watch: we are the world 25 for haiti

I know I'm a couple days late getting this up, but I keep thinking today is Monday! Stupid snow and holidays messing me up!

Anyway, it finally aired during the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics! The "We Are The World" remake with 23987 different celebrities coming together to sing what I said earlier would be amazing, epic, etc.

I'm going to go ahead and say that I was right.



Before I watched it, I heard everyone else's thoughts on it. A lot of people really don't like it. They think it shouldn't have been remade, it has too much hip-hop, the auto-tuning is a disgrace... Even Jay Z thinks it's bad.

I can't help but to disagree. If you watch that video with an open mind and really look at everyone's faces, you'll probably tear up a bit. I did, anyway.

Everyone is so happy to be helping out. These people who are nothing but stars to us are showing real emotion as they sing and come together as a huge group. Look at how much fun they're having!

I know I always hate the idea of remakes and sequels to classic songs, but the whole point of "We Are The World" was to help Africa and other countries. I think it's a perfect idea to remake it.

As for the hip-hop/auto-tuning, yea, I think it's a bit awkward in the middle, but it represents the music we have today. We don't have the wholesome music we had 25 years ago. We have Akon, T-Pain, and Lil Wayne on every song on the radio right now. If they didn't take their part in this song, it wouldn't mean the same thing.

All that being said, if you didn't watch the video before really observing these things and appreciating them as they should be, I say watch it again.

Look at the eclectic array of people in that group. Look at Randy have the time of his life. Watch them all almost cry. Watch the youngins look at the surrounding legends. It's pretty amazing, people.

So amazing, that I'm using words like eclectic and array. What the f.

I'm starting something new.

Every morning I wake up and have a bunch of things I want to share with you, but I just can't blog about them all, and some of them aren't worthy of a full post.

So for all you early risers or office workers who need a few things to kick-start your day, I shall help you with my "Rise and Shine" posts!- A list of links to things worth checking out.

the bet awards were all about mj... and bad music

I want to do a quick sum-up of the BET Awards.

First of all, DAY26 won BEST GROUP! Yeahhh boys!



Second, there was definitely some let downs when it came to performances. For me, the following wasn't a let down but rather a "I told you so" and a confirmation that it's OK I never jumped on the Lil Wayne bandwagon, and won't jump on the Drake bandwagon.



[I don't care that Drake tore his ACL and that's why he sat down. It was a terribly boring performance.]

Finally, it was all about Michael Jackson, and I watched it as my one final Hoo-rah for him.

Jamie Foxx's moonwalk was fantabulous and I'm mad I can't find any videos of it that will work.

All of the musical tributes were great, too... But honestly... the best part about it all, was finally getting to see Michael's sister, Miss Janet Jackson.



I cried, got goosebumps, everything when I saw her come out. She held her composure SO well. She gave the opposite appearance that their father did earlier that night on the red carpet.

He honestly acts like he's not phased by anything. This man disgusts me. He always has since I saw the Jackson 5 movie. Maybe this is his way of dealing with everything, but I can't believe that he's coming off so emotionless and untouched by it all.

I wish I could write more, and hopefully I'll get the time tomorrow, but I just don't have the time today and I'M SORRY! Check it all out for yourself, though!

I didn't get to do a whole lot of updating once Wednesday hit, and I am VERY sorry about it! Unfortunately for this blog, I was uber busy starting Wednesday morning, and didn't get to write about everything I wanted to.

But, People is helping me out a little with their list of TV's 5 Most Buzzed-About Moments for this week, and I will share them with you!

1. The judges save Matt Giraud.

Yes, if you were wondering, I am VERY upset they saved him. I think it was a stupid move on the judges part, but there's nothing anyone can do about it now. Hopefully no one important goes home this week.


2. Jamie Foxx apologizes to Miley Cyrus



He's so right! He was just being funny! I love his reaction in the beginning when it's first brought up though. And it's obvious that he feels pretty bad 'cuz he's not letting it go.


3. Tori Spelling vs. Chelsea Handler on the A-List Awards.




Chelsea has every right to say she looks like a man all the time! I mean.. Uhh... This is good, though! It's good of Tori to get a few good laughs about it all.


4. One name: Susan Boyle



She definitely got them, and everyone. This is so amazing to watch. I get goosebumps every time the whole way through. No wonder she's taking the world by storm.


5. Kathie Lee gets Zac Efron



This is stupid, actually. I don't know why people are making any type of big deal about it, but whatever. So she kinda scared him for playing her son on SNL. WHO CARES?!


So, you're caught up, kinda. Ashton and Diddy also talked to Larry King about Twitter, which was definitely talked about quite a bit... In Twitterland, at least.

Who is Miley Cyrus to Jamie Foxx? "The girl with the gums."

When they were talking about her dissing on Radiohead on his Sirius radio show last night, the Foxxhole, they completely blasted her.

A few of the highlights:

• "She's got to get a gum transplant… Let me get an order of mouth, light on teeth, heavy on the gums."
• "Get like Britney Spears and do some heroin."
• Be like Lindsay and "get some crack in your pipe"
• "Go get chlamydia on a bike."

Wow. At first I thought, "C'mon Jamie. I love you. Don't do this. That's a little harsh." Then I remembered it's a show. It's supposed to be over the top.

That's when I laughed. A lot. She really did have a LOT of gums, but I'm pretty sure she pulled a Hilary Duff and got some horse teeth.

So, good show, Jamie! I guess I won't take any of your fly guy points away. I will sit back and enjoy every second of this.

because you want to know: the grammy's

As always, I'm sure you've been on the edge of your seat just WAITING to hear what I have to say about the event of the weekend.

No, I don't mean Chris beating Rihanna. I already told you about that. I mean the Grammy's.

First of all, if you didn't tune into E! Network to see Seacrest on the red carpet, you missed out on a show. The man must have been drinking, or just not slept in a week, because he was clearly in outer space. He kept asking really uncomfortable questions to people, but seemed so disconnected. I don't know.. It was weird.

I don't know if this is the best example of it, but here he is with Jennifer Hudson.. Who he used to talk to regularly on American Idol:



And yes, that's Punk. Her fiance. Or "baby" as Ryan thought. Weird.

Moving on... Whitney's big "comeback." Did she do it? My opinion: No. However, Britney didn't do it the first time either. She needed a second chance, and she nailed it then. So I'm sure no one is giving up on Whitney yet. They can't. She was just a little cracked out still last night.. No big deal.

PLUS, she DID sing at the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy party the night before, and sounded pretty good. Not as mind blowing as we're used to.. But she's still got some pipes. [I know, it's a terrible video.. Deal with it. She starts singing around 2 minutes.]



The sound was killin' me. During so many performances, the mic was clearly not rigged up to the broadcast or something, because it sounded like a live concert being recorded on someones video camera. It was terrible, and made amazing singers like Carrie Underwood sound bad.

But, she IS Carrie Underwood, so even though the sound wasn't working, she still sounded pretty good.. And as always, looked amazing.



Honestly though.. Overall, the performances really disappointed me. Yeah, maybe Rihanna and GF-Beater [:(] could have helped, but I just wasn't impressed overall.

For example... Why was one of the most hyped up duets MILEY and TAYLOR?!?! Neither of them are really amazing singers, and they're even worse live. There's just a lot more people out there who could have filled their spot.



And SPEAKING OF DUETS!!! Stevie Wonder performed. That's always something anyone is going to look forward to. But... Who'd they pair him with?! The JONAS BROTHERS!!!

Seriously, I'm all about combining generations and things like that... But this is not okay. Stevie is a legend. The JoBros are not.. No matter what any teeny bopper may say. [And I'm allowed to say this because I, too, was a teeny bopper growing up. Big time.] I mean yeah, it sounded okay and everything... But c'mon. This is like a sin or something! And didn't Stevie used to say he wouldn't be a part of such things?!



A good example of combining generations DID happen last night, though. Some of the Four Tops combined with Jamie Foxx and Neyo to do a montage of a songs.. And it was FABULOUS! Jamie and Neyo fit RIGHT in swagger-wise, and they're amazing singers. It just fit. You could feel the chemistry, and how they really knew this was something special for everyone.

Speaking of swagger, you KNOW Kanye had to be up on that stage sometime. And of course TI, Jay Z, Lil Wayne, and the ever so PREGO MIA. It started off black and white which was interesting, but it was a good performace.. I won't even lie.



Anddd speaking of TI.. He was also on stage with Justin Timberlake (replacing either Chris or Rihanna's peformance) for Dead and Gone. Good stuff, for sure.



On top of that, I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but there wasn't a whole lot worthy of sharing. Coldplay peformed, which a lot of people may like actually.. But I still haven't figured out the fascination in them. U2 opened the show. Album of the year winners Alison Krauss and Robert Plant ALSO performed.. But it still left the question of "Why'd they win?"

And, of course, Katy Perry told us all one more time, that she did in fact kiss a girl.. And yes, she liked the taste of her cherry chapstick.



Weird performance.

I know I'm forgetting plenty, but thanks to my computer crashing earlier today, I lost all of my notes, so these will have to do.

As usual, I love hearing what everyone had to say, and what you noticed that maybe I didn't, so please share!!

Overall though.. I just wasn't impressed this year. I think they could have been a lot better, and made some better decisions not only about performances, but about the awards too.

YAY for Jennifer Hudson though!!!

Sure he may have a few dirty jokes up his sleeve, too, but everyone will be too focused on his ability to do ANYTHING in the world to care.

If your mom wants you with a little princess, Taylor is your girl. She's sure to come home and make everyone feel warm and fuzzy inside. She is certainly a wholesome young lady, and never shows off any of her goodies. And when Mom asks what she does for a living, just tell her she writes her own songs. Then make sure you throw in the fact that they're pretty much guaranteed to hit #1 on several different charts. She'll get the Mommy stamp of approval in no time.

7. Ryan Gosling

If your mom has seen "The Notebook," he's in. No matter what. No questions asked. The perfect man for you. And just in case Mama needed any more convincing, make sure she gets a good look at his adorable face, and infatuation with you. [Assuming he feels the same way about you as he does/did Rachel McAdams.] So far, he's done no wrong.. And he won't with you either.


6. Carrie Underwood
Talk about someone who always looks absolutely perfect every day of her life. Wait nevermind. Every SECOND of her life. When she walks through the door she'll take Mom, and everyone's, breath away. Then on Christmas when she sings carols, everyone in the room will probably melt and watch in awe. Plus, she's confident, but knows where she comes from, which is always a plus. You can't have Miss I-Know-I'm-Great coming home with you.

Now, I understand maybe some of these people aren't exactly available at the moment.. But I don't see any of them getting married into a super successful relationship anytime soon, either.

However, there are 2 people that need to be on this list. So, I will consider them the 2 people that are worth becoming a homewrecker for..

Ellen DeGeneres
Well, good news here is, girls can take her home. Or, if you want to play pretend, guys can take her home too! She's funny, witty, smart, has a People's Choice Award winning talk show, knows everyone in Hollywood, and, most importantly, knows how to dance. I've yet to meet anyone who is anti-Ellen, and I don't think any mom would be either. [That is, of course, unless you're surprising her with your new-found sexual preference. Woops.] It's just a shame [well, actually I'm pretty happy for her, but still...] that she's married to her soulmate, Portia.

Will Smith

Does the guy need ANY explanation?! He's the biggest money-maker in Hollywood, first of all. He's attractive, multi-talented, and a fantastic father and husband. Now it's just a matter of making him YOUR husband. Mom won't need to give you the official stamp of approval for this one. It's a given. I mean seriously, who COULDN'T love the Fresh Prince?!



So there ya have it. 12 celebs that are perfect to be sitting right next to you at the family reunion dinner table. Now it's just a matter of making it happen.

in case you missed it-- "We Are One"

As promised, I'm here to tell you all about the "We Are One: Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial" from Sunday night.

Unfortunately, a lot of these videos aren't allowed to be circulating the internet, so if any fail to work, I'm sorry!

I can't remember the exact order of events, either, so I'm going to go completely random with this. And you're not going to care.

I think my favorite two performances were Usher, Stevie Wonder, and Shakira singing "Higher Ground," and Will.i.am and Sheryl Crow singing "One Love" with Herbie Hancock.

First of all, I just love seeing Usher back on the scene, especially as such a huge event, and to be performing with Stevie Wonder is obviously something special. But the way they both sound is just great in itself.

I don't like Shakira coming in, though. In fact, I think I hate it. She almost could have ruined it, and I'm not sure why they even brought her in to do that performance, but whatever. As long as sweet Barack liked it.



Will.i.am has been hugely involved within the whole Obama campaign since day one, so it's no wonder he got to perform at this ceremony. Sheryl Crow has also been pretty involved, and she's a wonderful person, so I love that they did it together.

And it's clear why this is a perfect song for this history we are all witnessing. We're all coming together as one. What I love best about this whole thing is when Will.i.am breaks into his/the Black Eyed Peas' song, "What's Goin' On" while still keeping the Bob Marley beat.

Minus the awkwardness of them trying to share the microphone, this is a fantastic show.



Another really great one was James Taylor, Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland [who was obviously VERY excited about being there], and John Legend singing "Shower the People." I love John Legend's voice, and when it's an event like this, I think his voice is unique and so fitting for it. He's amazing.

And James Taylor, pff, he's a legend. There's no wonder he's there. Jennifer's voice just compliments and adds a nice, extra tone to the song. It's pretty. :)



Some solo performances that are necessary to mention are Garth Brooks' "American Pie" and Beyonce's "America the Beautiful."

Garth sounded good, but it wasn't anything I'm jumping out of my seat for. That is, until he broke out into "Shout!" It was a good break from all of the seriousness and readings of the history of this country. Barack definitely seemed to be diggin' it, too!



Finally, Beyonce has an amazing voice. I won't deny it. And she sounded amazing singing this song. They picked a great person to do it. [Only one better would be Jennifer Hudson, I think.. But I'm sure she's still struggling with personal issues...]



Mary J. Blige did "Lean On Me" which was really good, too. It started off iffy, in my opinion, but it was good. Click here if you want to check it out. :)

[Bruce Springsteen also performed to open up the show, and U2 did a couple songs, including the one that has become THE song of the Obama campaign.]

On top of all of these performances, TONS of people made appearances. Tom Hanks, Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Foxx, Jack Black, Denzel Washington, Steve Carell, and Marisa Tomei are just a few of them.

Most people talked about the history of former presidents, what they did for this country, and how they helped us get to the point we are now. They also introduced different performers, presenters, or whoever.

My favorite, was Jamie Foxx. [Surprised? Probably not.] Only because his was a little different in the sense he did offer a little bit of comedy within the seriousness. He did his own little impersonation of PRESIDENT Barack Obama, and it was dead on.



I love that man.

And, of course, Barack Obama gave a speech, and, well, every speech that he gives will give you goosebumps, and this one was no different. [To keep from this site taking 2398472 hours to load, just click here if you haven't seen or heard it.]

So overall, the show was amazing, and for those who witnessed it, you're really lucky. If not, maybe these pictures [Thanks to the Washington Post] can help you feel like you were, and see how ridiculous the crowd really was.

First off, Beyonce released TWO new videos.. I guess that's how it's going to work with this new album.. The whole two videos/songs at a time since she kinda has two albums at once..?

It's very Jesse. That's the only way to describe it. It's not my most favorite song of his, but it's not terrible, either. If you like him, you'll probably like it. If not, you probably won't.


Akon, TI, Snoop Dogg--> Day Dreaming

Ummm, I LOVE IT! Really, I do. What a sweet combination! Snoop's voice kinda comes out of nowhere, I feel, but it's okay.. I'm okay with it. It brings a different flavor to the Akon sound. Officially downloaded.


Jamie Foxx ft. Yung Joc and T-Pain--> Blame It

This song is cool, too. I'm not jumping for joy.. Especially because I need more Jamie Foxx in it.. But the song is cool and the lyrics are interesting. :)
