listen: what it's like to be a redskins cheerleader

Holy CRAZY life on the show lately! My "Exposed" segment has been taking off and I've been having all sorts of artists on my show/podcast lately and it has been feeling so good!

Beyond musicians though, I love talking to people who do other things that may be a little in the spotlight or at least a combination of known and mysterious.

Like... how about Redskins Cheerleaders?!

Two of them came into my show the other day thinking we'd do some quick live thing
promoting their upcoming auditions, but I had more plans. I wanted to pick their brains... find out about their lives and expectations and everything there is! For the first time in a while, I knew I didn't have to write down questions because I'd just be so genuinely interested.. but I did write some of them down after the fact.
  • What does it take to be on the team?
  • How much time/effort does it take during the week?
  • How much do they get paid?
  • What else do they do with their lives?
  • What's a game day like?
  • Do they have friendships or any sort of relationship with players?
  • How do they make sure they stand out among the cheerleaders on the field?

There are a lot of giggles and us being girls, but that's what happens when you're vibing right?! Listen to the fun with Candess and Javai:

Listen to "What does it take to be a First Lady of Football?" on Spreaker.

Also, check out their beauty:

I guess this means I have some new besties on the field to call upon for an extra special good time next season?! *fingers crossed*

photo diary: hosting the redskins draft day pre-party

On Saturday, I got to host the Redskins' Draft Day Dash party for the second time, and I was a giant fangirl the entire time. YOU KNOW I'm a die hard Redskins fan who even followed them to London just to watch a tie... and in college, I had a Redskins kitchen with two posters- Santana Moss and Clinton Portis.

Those two players were the ones who shared the stage with me this weekend and I was geeking out. Of course I told them about the posters, and I stuttered the entire time I was trying to talk. I was shaking when I took the selfie... and the moment Santana put his arm around me on stage, I nearly fainted.

courtesy of Redskins.com

The best part was when I told the entire crowd of ~3,000 people that the guys made me scream extra loud last night. Accidental sex joke for the win.

After I was done geeking [and when everyone started running which I absolutely do not do], I went inside the stadium for the Draft Day party and ended up in the swanky suite section where other players were walking around.

Cue more fangirling for DJ Swearinger and Josh Doctson.

And in case you didn't know, you can also take a tour of the locker room, kick field goals, drink, party, etc as a normal human being with free entrance if you go to this annual party.

I'm still kinda geeking out just looking back at all of this. I assume I'm close enough with Clinton and Santana for them to come to my birthday party in a month, right?! Cool.

eb takes europe: my london photo diary

I went to Europe. That doesn't even seem real. It's like I'm going through all these photos from somewhere else or something, I'm not sure.

It's true though. A year ago, I found out the Redskins were playing in London and laughed when someone said we should go. Then I realized the timing was perfect, and if I could convince someone to make the journey with me, I needed to make it happen.

On Halloween weekend, I headed straight to England, or Great Britain, or the UK.. or WHATEVER THE EFF THEY WANNA BE CALLED, to start a weeklong journey that would eventually end in Ireland.

Where the hell do I even begin?

The flight was 7.5 hours and so much easier than I anticipated [maybe because of the free booze and movies, I'm not sure], and once we got to the city and arrived in Brixton, where we were staying, there were people dressed up everywhere. They were more spooky than in the states, though. Make-up seems to be a bigger deal than the costume itself. It was 10:00 and the streets were rowdy... so I was quick to change into my costume.

Hi, I'm Britney's comeback. Duh. Not only did I GET TO MEET HER, but she's had such an amazing year. One side is the night she cut her hair off, one side is her Billboard Awards performance. It may not be the most well-done costume I've ever done but the fact that I got it done and got it to London is a feat within itself. [Shout out to my Mommom who helped me sew the main parts together so it would stay!]

By the time we got out, though... it was sloppy. In fact, the main impression I have of London is the first impression I had in Brixton- people smashing bottles everywhere, not being able to walk but being completely alone in the middle of the street for some reason, awkward fights, and lots of cigarettes. Unfortunately, I've since learned that it's not the best place to stay, but ya live and ya learn.

GAME DAY!

Being in a completely different continent where they don't really love football like we do, there was no way to have expectations for how it would go... but I imagine it was kinda like being at the Super Bowl. There were all different kinds of fans there, not just people rooting for the Redskins or the Bengals. And there were a LOT of people there.

The stadium was beautiful, the people were friendly [unless they were taking extra money from me without me knowing because ya know- pounds are tough], and we had some pretty sweet seats thanks to meeting Nick Sundberg, Redskins long snapper, a few weeks before. We were a part of the popular crowd- sitting with all the players' families.

It was unfortunate that the Bengals were technically the home team, but I wouldn't say they had more fans than us... nor did they have more talent.

Oh. A freaking tie. My first NFL tie was all the way in London. I guess that just checks off one more bucketlist item, or something. We celebrated by greeting Nick and then downing a lot of pints with funny people with cool accents. Turns out- the NFL IS smart. British people really are starting to fall in love with the sport!

The fantastic Nick Sundberg!

I took the first pic when we kicked the field goal.... that wasn't good.... so.... that's awkward.

Day two in London- I learned that drinking too much of their beloved ciders while dealing with jet lag isn't smart. Migraine took over, and I didn't get out of bed until noon. THIS IS NOT OKAY. *CUE PANIC ATTACK, POP SOME PILLS, GET OUTSIDE IMMEDIATELY.*

Brixton during the day was pretty cool- a lot of markets to walk through, fun graffiti, and THE David Bowie memorial. People were stopping by with all kinds of flowers and gifts that the homeless people probably steal in honor of David.

Did you know London is a pretty big place? There's a lot to see... and not just from the top of a double decker bus or inside a telephone booth that has since been turned into a wifi hotspot/pee stall combination.

When doing my presearch for the trip, everyone kept saying to do picnics for lunch. While walking through a street market, we ordered some french food to eat in front of Buckingam Palace, which makes total sense except not really. It was neat to sit on some dirty stairs and watch people take all the selfies. It might even be my new favorite past time... just watching the possible captions cycle through in their head.

With limited time after that [damn you, Daylights Savings], a bus and quick walks over the bridges was the best option before stupidly talking politics with businessmen in an English pub. Just when I thought they'd all think we were insane for letting Trump run, they say THEY LIKE HIM. I guess that should have been my first wake up call.

The biggest shocker of London: The prettiest bridge they have.... it's NOT London Bridge! It gives you a view of the very boring London Bridge... but it's actually Tower Bridge. I forgive them for this confusion because I assume the original London Bridge that fell was extra great and because Tower Bridge was my favorite spot in London.

As for our home in London/Brixton, it was a cute little apartment with antique pieces everywhere. It was their home that they left for a few days while we took it over, which made things a little more awkward... but with super easy access to the Underground/metro system, it was perfect. Plus, look at the keys! They actually use keys like in the movies or fantasy lands! [CLICK THEM if you wanna see more of where we stayed.

There's a lot more that I missed within the city... but it was time to move on. Traveling within the countries in Europe is ridiculously easy. It's easier to travel within their countries than it is for us to travel within states or cities. LESSON LEARNED: Don't book a train ticket last minute. Like flights, they go up in price. We got a quick train to Paris for $180, but had to sit between the cars in fold down seats. It gets better when you just go drink in the food cart the whole time, though.

The beautiful train station // Our peasant seats vs. the drink car
As for Paris- It was so much better than I anticipated, but more on that later Mr/Miss Impatient.

Right now I wanna take the time to point out how rude it was for the beers/ciders in London to tell me I can't drink as much as the boys. How dare you.

Although.... I did say too many ciders caused me to have a migraine so maybe I should just shut up right now....

PS... is the *we* and *us* and *our* sticking out to anyone else? It's weird, but it's true. There's an us now. I still struggle with the whole talking-about-that and sharing-too-much thing because... well.... relationships will always scare the s#!* out of me. This is a big step. That is all for now. You can stalk and learn more yourself. I feel awkward right now. okay bye.

watch: bad lip reading in the nfl

I've seen these videos for songs and stuff, and wondered how they could make one as funny for the NFL, but the truth is... it might be funnier.

It's quick clips of players, coaches and refs saying things, and they're just so random and so dead on it's fantastic.

I'm so glad they made Tom Brady the main thumbnail. His parts are so good!

WOO! I'M WHITE!

And Harbaugh "BUT I WANT IT NOW!"

Yeah, I'm tearing up a little bit from laughing. I WANT MORE!

gift guide: things for the female football fan

If you're searching for a girl who loves football, or is at least a big fan of a team [or, maybe, you want to ease her into being a fan of a team], I've got some ideas for you.

Sure, you can go the route of getting shirts, jerseys, pajamas, hoodies, decals, etc... or you could go beyond that. Let her feel like a girl, but also let her rep those colors.

Wine glasses [or any kind of alcohol glass- pilsner, mug, shot glass, whatever] This pair is $28.

Undies. If it's for your girl, it's practically a present for both of you. Imagine her in your team's jersey and thong. You're welcome. Pricier than most thongs, but probably worth the $11.95

Bag. I like this one because it's big enough to work for her at a tailgate, or during the off-season at the beach. If she's a classier lady than me, there are other options for you. $25

This scarf. I saw it at the game over the weekend, loved the jersey material, and didn't even know it had that secret compartment! Talk about convenience! If we can skip the whole bringing in a bag thing, it's always a good day. $25

Jewelry, of course. There are tons of pretty options, but these are some of my favorites. A nice watch with good colors and team spirit= love. This one is only $35. Any team's logo on earrings will also be pretty, but I'm loving all of the "Hail Yeah" stuff for Redskins fans lately. $10. I'm in love with the stackable rings. They're really pretty, even in person, but the price reflects it. $99

Obviously, because I'm a Redskins fan, that's what I focused on... but most of these things came from the NFL shop or Amazon, which cater to all the teams, and often have all the same products!

Please, for the love of sweet baby football Jesus, don't get her a pink jersey. Or a rhinestoned one. We don't need more of those in this world.

watch: troy polamalu pretends to be a wax statue

You KNOW I love it when innocent people are messed with when they least expect it, so obviously I had to share this.

Troy Polamalu did his best to look like a wax statue and went into Madame Tussaud's and freaked people out when he came to life.

I guess it's a good thing Steelers fans travel well in this case... I'm sure plenty of people wanted to take their picture with him all the way in LA.

Stupid Steelers fans.. falling for it... Pffftttt. [/sh!t talk]

watch etv: i train to become an nfl kicker

Remember when Ellen practiced with the Saints and I said I had something of the sort in the works? Okay, well, it's nowhere near as awesome as practicing WITH the NFL team, but I'm totally becoming a football player!

The wives/girlfriends/ladies of the Redskins players have created a fan club just for women, and I'm helping show people that chics can totally get into football, too!

For the next couple months I'm making videos of me "training" to become a football player. Of course for week one, I decided to go the easiest route [but probably the hardest for me, to be honest..]- Kicker/punter!

I mean... I knew I had no hand/eye/foot coordination when it came to balls and foreign objects, but I didn't think I'd be that awful. Oy.

I really wanna get some "official" people to help me in the next videos, so if you know any legit football players in the VA Beach area, or have someone I should try to get on them, holler! My dream is to get one of the Redskins or their wives on here, but we'll see how possible that is with their strenuous schedules.

watch: taylor lautner saves the nfl lockout

As each day goes on, I start to hyperventilate a little more. This NFL lockout business needs to END and I need my Sundays to be complete come August.

FunnyorDie did this amaze-balls movie trailer starring Taylor Lautner and NFL stars, and I just really wish it would come true...

Of course, when I say I wish this would come true, I mean in MY apartment and MY side yard/field. Yes. That'd be fun.

update: nfl logos get tragic makeover

A couple weeks ago I showed you the NFL t-shirts that gave the logos a tragic [and hilarious] makeover.

Lucky for us, we have more to choose from!

Thank you, Jon Defreest, for making these epic shirts... And more importantly- putting the Redskins' arrows through the Dallas star. I need one of those.

Also a win: The Colts' and the Giants'. Bahaha.

I'll keep em comin' as they're premiered!

nfl logos tragically redone

If you have any strong feelings towards the NFL, you will probably love any or all of these logos.

Jon Defreest is taking the NFL logos and redrawing them in a morbid/inappropriate/hilarious way and selling them as t-shirts.

He's doing it in series, so if you don't see your favorite, or absolute least favorite team here, don't worry- It's coming, and I'll keep ya up to date.

I seriously can't wait until they get to the NFC East. What can they do with the star?! I'm sure there are a million things you could do with the Redskin.

The Patriot is hilarious, obviously.. and with all the birds falling from the sky recently, I'd say the Cardinal is pretty spot on as well.

Genius artist, I tell ya. Simple, but homeboy's gonna make a lot of money.

nifty website: terez owens

I'm not sure why I've never heard of this website, but everyone I've mentioned it to hasn't heard about it either, so it's time to spread the word.

What's better than sports or gossip news?! A combination of BOTH!

This blog, "Terez Owens," who must be involved with the Perez Hilton circle somehow because of the look and name of the blog, takes sports news to a whole new level of interesting. It's not the stories you read on ESPN, it's probably the stories my readers would be interested in.

For example, here are some of the latest:
  • Brett Favre Dong Pics Released: Might Face Suspension
  • Kim Kardashian Looking to Date Yankees Players
  • Former MLB Star Roberto Alomar Hid HIV From Wife
  • Matt Kemp and Rihanna On the Rocks
  • The Yankees Robinson Cano is a Pimp
BRETT FAVRE HAS PEE-PEE PICTURES BEING RELEASED! What!!!

I just found this website a few days ago and I'm addicted, and I'm thinkin' you might be too. You're welcome.

And thank you, Terez... For making sports interesting for even the girly girls. [Not me, the other silly girls who'd rather bedazzle their authentic jerseys than wear them as is.]

watch: ref needs a moment on the field

I love my football. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever need a husband as long as I have football in my life. It gives me the emotional roller coaster a man would give me, so what's the point.

Sometimes, it even gives me a really good laugh. This happened during yesterday's Houston/Dallas game.

Because Mikey P is the sports guru here, I'll let him tell you all about it and show you the video.

Trust me.. You'll laugh too.

He shoulda grabbed a Twix.

4 the win: redskins vs texans

First and foremost...I'm back! After a six month hiatus, I'm glad to be back into action and write about all the smart, boneheaded, and of course Redskins stories I can. Now without further ado, let's get it poppin.

...Starting with the Washington Redskins baby!

Welp, we took a loss this week. Obvious now, right? Some of us are probably blaming it on the kicker. Or maybe the secondary... AKA me. But as I think about it now, the Redskins were able to show a lot of positives in this game.

love, e archive: 10 things football fans shouldn't do

Many of you are fairly "new" to this site. AKA You've found out about it within the last few months.

Because of that, and because the Super Bowl is just two days away, I think it's important to look back on a significant post from this time last year..... [Click the link below to read more.]

It's SUPER BOWL WEEK!!! So how does love, elizabethany get prepared for such an event? Well, a football themed Top 10 Thursday, of course!!

In order to pick what I wanted to do, I thought of the 2 teams in the World Championship of football.... And it clicked. One of the teams [I'm not going to say which, but it should be pretty obvious] has really obnoxious fans. What makes them so obnoxious? A lot of things. Some of them being within the

watch: brett favre and the vikings heart american idol

Q: What's better than watching the Vikings run all over the Cowboys then back up and do it again?!
A: Watching Brett Favre lead the team in "Pants on the Ground," as made popular by Larry Platt on American Idol, in celebration of the smashing. [Sidenote: Why have all of the playoffs been blowouts?! Annoying.]

I wonder if Larry Platt is a Vikings fan. Imagine the poop stain that would be in his pants when he watched that if he is...

Brett Favre- I love you for clearly being an Idol fan, while still remaining an old, hott, twice-retired quarterback in the playoffs. You're amazing.

nfl cheat sheet: week 14

What’s up people!

Time is winding down for teams to reach the playoffs and boy do I love every minute of it. Technically, playoffs have already started for some teams, such as the Steelers, Titans, and even the Giants.

For others, it’s a race to the top pick in next years NFL draft. The Heisman Trophy presentation is this weekend and more and more players are declaring for the NFL. So do you win for pride? Or do you lose for first pick?
