awesome photography: kenji croman's waves

The first week of fall is officially here, but I refuse to accept it. I plan on hitting the beach and working on my tan this weekend.

BUT... when the time does come that I have to put on warmer clothes and face my pale ass in the mirror, I'm going to need one of these amazing photos blown up on my wall to remind me off the better days.

They're by Kenji Croman, and even though they're all technically of the same thing, I'm so fascinated by them! They're gorgeous! Can you imagine having one blown up as wallpaper or something?! Goodness. It'd be a beautiful room.

tilt shift photography might be my new favorite

Tweet I've heard a little about this tilt-shift photography, and my camera has the option to do it, but I never really understood what was supposed to happen, or more importantly- how to make it happen.

After looking at a bunch of examples, now I get it, and it's da bomb. It's like the ski resort video I posted a little while back. Everything that's pictured looks like a miniature, toy set of what it is, even though it's a regular sized scene.

There's also this video from Mardi Gras last year!



It's become my new goal to figure out how to do this and come up with some of my own. I'm no professional photographer, but I do consider myself to be pretty good. Now I just need to figure out the special effects like this.

Any tips/suggestions from the pros would obviously be appreciated.

awesome photography- dancing through nyc

Tweet I'm a huge fan of photography. [I wish I had the time and money to add it to my list of hobbies.] A good series can keep me occupied for a while, just like this one.

Jordan Matter takes photos of dancers in "normal, every day scenes throughout New York City." These pictures are absolutely beautiful, breath taking, and downright COOL because of the different scenes and settings.

Ah! Are they not AWESOME?! Maybe it's the gymnast/dancer/NYC-lover in me, but I think you should catch the love, too. Just sayin'- You can see the rest here.

nfl logos tragically redone

Tweet If you have any strong feelings towards the NFL, you will probably love any or all of these logos.

Jon Defreest is taking the NFL logos and redrawing them in a morbid/inappropriate/hilarious way and selling them as t-shirts.

He's doing it in series, so if you don't see your favorite, or absolute least favorite team here, don't worry- It's coming, and I'll keep ya up to date.

I seriously can't wait until they get to the NFC East. What can they do with the star?! I'm sure there are a million things you could do with the Redskin.

The Patriot is hilarious, obviously.. and with all the birds falling from the sky recently, I'd say the Cardinal is pretty spot on as well.

Genius artist, I tell ya. Simple, but homeboy's gonna make a lot of money.

really nifty: toilet paper roll art

Tweet I'm not the most artsy person, and if you took me into your typical art gallery, chances are I'd be lost in a world of ADD and confusion [unless photography was involved].

I do know cool art when I see it though. Ya know, the stuff no one really thinks of doing or can even dream of doing.

Once upon a time I showed you my standing favorite- Pencil tip art. Now I show you toilet paper roll art from Anastassia Elias.










I'm seriously impressed. I don't know how people do this, but I'm assuming it takes a lot of concentration and patience if you mess up.

pencil tip sculptures amaze me

You know I love random, totally mind-boggling art. This is honestly the coolest I've ever seen, and no, I don't think I'm exaggerating.

Dalton Ghetti takes a razor blade and two years of his life to carve little things into the tips of a pencil. He carves the most detailed things into the lead!!! You know how small the lead is. They're not huge pencils, they're just amazing pieces of art.

Did your mouth drop as low as mine?! These are freakin' INCREDIBLE.

As broke as I am, I'm pretty sure I'd pay big money for one of them. Not even lying.

I'm in love with a pencil tip artist.
