watch: my american idol covers "say something"

So one of my closest friends and favorite people in the world tried out for American Idol this summer and SPOILER ALERT: He made it to Hollywood!

All I can say now is that you should absolutely get to know him. He's always been an amazing singer and I'm so glad he's finally going 110% after his dreams. He deserves to be noticed and praised and loved by the world!

He started a new thing today- "Serenade Thursdays." He's going to post a cover every Thursday and this is his first one- a beautiful version of "Say Something."

Is his voice not amazing?! Gah! I can't wait to see him on my TV next week!

In the meantime, you should probably subscribe to him, follow him on Twitter and Instagram, and send some love!

People chasing their dreams is a beautiful thing... and it's a bonus when they have tremendous talent.

on the racks: christina aguilera does maxim

If you told me Xtina was posing in Maxim a year ago, I would have cringed a little and said something along the lines of "we see more than enough of her on "The Voice." But now, she's looking damn good.

Welcome her to the cover of the October issue.

She's showing off what looks good and hiding her "trouble spots," as every woman should learn how to do... even though I think she has very few trouble spots these days.

Seriously, I love this! She's not the skinny little girl she used to be, but her body's gorgeous! She's a woman now, not a teen pop princess.

Also love: Her quote about being sexy.
"I'm such a down-to-earth girl, I'm comfortable in just a jersey and boy's underwear. Trying too hard to be sexy is the worst thing you can do. Sexiness should be effortless."

And when they asked her about Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling back in the day:
"They were both very charismatic, but I think I have to shy away from the question. I don't want this to bite me in the butt later. They were tight, you know. They'd walk around together all the time, same as me and Britney [Spears] would. Now look at us. It's funny how that played out."

Are you saying you guys still can't be friends, Xtina?! Come onnn.......

There's plenty more sexy and fun in the article, out in a week or so.

PS If you haven't heard her latest song, you should. I'm kinda in love with it.

the american music awards: then and now

The American Music Awards last night spent some time reminiscing on "the good ol' days" throughout the show, but now it's time to see more. I wanted to compare last night's sights with those of the past.

Boy band performances... NSYNC in 2000 vs. The Wanted in 2012

Dirrty Christina in 2003 vs. last night

Cyndi Lauper in 1985 and 2012

Gloria Estefan rockin the stage in 1988, and the carpet in 2012.

Rappers on the red carpet... Snoop Dogg in 1998 and Luda returning in 2012

Jenny McCarthy co-hosted the show in 2003! And molested Justin Bieber last night.

In 1992, Boys II Men won the R&B/Soul award... while Usher [drunkenly] accepted it last night.

In 2003, Pink took the stage with an acoustic version of "Trouble..."

And last night she killed it with her "Try" performance...

And just for fun, here's what Britney Spears looked like in 2003, just two years after rocking that denim look with Justin Timberlake.

Last night's show was pretty good, I'm not going to act like I hated it. I was a tweeting machine most of the night, so you can see how I felt about it there...

Yay awards season! Judging people is fun.

christina aguilera looks beyond scary and awful at michael jackson tribute

Woah, heyzeus! We knew Christina Aguilera was losing herself and looking a little rough, but I think this transformation trumps any that Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson could even have nightmares about.

Look at these pictures from her performance at the Michael Jackson tribute and try not to cry or vomit.

There is no excuse for letting yourself go like that. She needs a wake-up call.

because you want to know: mtv movie awards

So the MTV Movie Awards were last night [duh] and it's time for me to tell you my thoughts... Because you care... Obviously.

I'll make it quick and simple.

What I hearted:
  • Tom Cruise becoming someone we can all like and think is great again. His Les Grossman character that was shown throughout the show was hilarious. It was also cute to see Katie smiling and loving it!
  • Speaking of him, his performance with J. Lo was great! I love seeing her back in action and looking hott, and it was funny!
  • The Kiss Cam. As lame as it was, I thought about it again and it was totally funny. It's a shame some people didn't play along, but Russell Brand and Jonah Hill made it all worth it in the end.
  • Sandra Bullock. Not that I wasn't a fan before, but I LOVE her now. I want to spend an entire weekend watching all of her movies. She's a class act. She addressed what's been said about her and said let's move on. Who cares if she got the award outta pity?! Either way- She deserved it.

What was not so heart-ful:
  • Twilight being the main focus again, duh. Annoying. There's no way you can say that's honestly the best movie of the year. And WHO CARES if R. Pattz and K. Stew didn't kiss?! It was LAME! Stop talking about it. [I know.. I just did. I fail.]
  • The Sandra/Scarlett kiss. I know, I know. I'm a hater or something. Whatever. I just didn't get it. Maybe there's something I'm missing, but that whole situation just confused the eff out of me.
  • The performances. Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg were rather awkward, and Christina Aguilera was no bueno. I think her time is up. There's no coming back. Plus- what was that heart on her cooch?!
  • Lindsay Lohan. Homegirl needs help. Just because she avoided sitting next to Dr. Drew doesn't mean someone shouldn't step in. It's scary what she looks like now!
Also worth mentioning because everyone loves them: Jersey Shore walked the red carpet. Why does Angelina still get to do everything?! UNFAIR! Also, can we all agree that Sammi is the hottest girl by far? And Vinny wins for the guys!

Alright, that is all! What did you like/dislike?! Was it worth your time!? Sound off below, of course!

watch: how to piss off christina aguilera

I'm learning some things about Christina Aguilera lately that solidify my decision a decade ago to be Team Britney through and through...

Lesson #1: She thinks she's the ish and when she's in the spotlight, you better not eff it up.

Really, though?! RUDE!. Doesn't she realize that stopping and "kindly joking" about him coughing just A) ruined the interview and B) made her look like a huge B?!

She could have kept talking and the coughs could have been edited out... Duh.

I've also learned, thanks to my Florida DJ BFF, that when she's being interviewed, she doesn't know when to hurry up her answers and/or shut the eff up. She goes on and on about nothing.

It's a lose/lose for anyone working with her. She takes forever, they have to hold their breath, and she's a boring B.

I'm glad I have officially crossed someone off my "need to meet before I die" list the easy way.

on the racks: christina and blake take the covers

This month seems to be a fabulous one for magazine covers! Every one that I've seen has been totally share-worthy.

The latest: Christina Aguilera on Marie Claire and Blake Lively on Esquire!

I'm a huge fan of Blake Lively and I think Christina is finally looking good again! Thank goodness!

Both are working on movies with famous co-stars [Christina with Cher and Blake with Ben Affleck] and both are revamping their image, but as to what they each have to say:

“I have a sex scene in this film and that’s never comfortable, You think, ‘Oh, this is going to be so awkward.’ But this scene isn’t supposed to be a steamy one – it’s sort of tragic. … I’m pretty much crying in it.”
-Blake Lively about her role in "The Town," which portrays her as a woman going through sexual assault

“I didn’t want to do something that was easy for me. I’ve actually had my character rewritten to be tougher and a little more spunky.”
-Christina Aguilera about her role in "Burlesque"

I'm totally rooting for both of them! I have a good feeling about them both! Then again, "The Town" is directer by Ben Affleck, and he seems to be the kiss of death in the past 10 years.

PS: Sidenote: Ben Affleck totally has great things to say about Blake:

"She came in, did one reading, and just crushed it. Like, Boston accent — really good. I was sort of stunned. I said, ‘Jeez, you know, that was really f—ing good. Who are you?’ She didn’t mention that she was on a television show.”

nighttime hangover 111109

11/11 MAKE A WISH!!!!!!

I wish that I could have gotten up earlier this morning and actually had this be a Morning Hangover rather than nighttime... But hey... "Better late than never."

Alright boobeys [that's the word my cussaholic BFF and I came up with the other night as a new term of endearment or friendship], that's all for now! Time for the CMA's!!!

this weekend on the red carpet

Two "big events" happened this weekend... The Kids' Choice Awards, and Perez Hilton's 31st birthday party.

It's weird... You'd think the people at the Kids' Choice Awards would be a little less worried about how they look than those who attend the most famous celebrity blogger ever. I mean, he's going to talk about how they looked, obviously.

Still, the pictures I see from KCA show people looking overall fabulously. Everyone at the birthday bash is looking... Well.. Terrible, for the most part.

Take a look for yourself:

On the ORANGE Carpet at Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards:

Don't think you're a pedofile for checking some of these people out. Can I mention how hott Romeo has gotten? Woah. And Ashley Tisdale looks smokin' too!

And on the pink carpet before Perez Hilton's OMFB Party:

Ugh. Hooker O'Day is flashin' her goodies. Christina Aguilera thinks it's Halloween, Kim Kardashian seems to be hiding a belly bump, and Paris thinks she's the star of the Matrix. Aye yi yi.

Well done, kiddies! Perez, I think you need new friends. And a new stylist.

a little late

First of all, it's been 2 days since the AMA's aired, so I'm a little late, but I'm not worried about it.

Second, I'm not sure if anyone cares about what I think about them or not, but I'm going to tell you anyways.

The opening; Christina Aguilera style, was not up to par. I would expect a LOT more from HER, as well as the ceremony.

I loved that she sang a BUNCH of her songs, from all different time periods, but you could barely hear her on any of the songs. Plus, her outfits were lame.

Seeing the New Kids perform was of course very cool, no doubt about it. They didn't do terrible, but it feels very weird watching them get up and do those dance moves when they're like, 40 years old or whatever. Hmmm..

Pink was AMAZING as usual. I think she's probably my favorite non-American Idol live singer. She doesn't have the most perfect voice, but it is SO real. You can tell she loves what she's doing, and she's not afraid to put her real voice, without computers, out there for everyone to hear. [She also did it on yesterday's Ellen in Vegas.]

Jimmy Kimmel did NOT stop cracking on the JoBros ALL night, and it was HILARIOUS! The funniest part about it is every time they flashed over to the Disney brothers, they looked PISSED.

Taylor Swift, girl, you got two strikes. It was a terrible performance. She has gotten so boring when it comes to performing. She basically just stood there and sang to us, some song a lot of people don't know, and it was pretty boring. I know she's talented, I'm not going to deny that, but these past 2 performances she has given have been HUGE, and totally blown.

Let's talk about how FLY Neyo is. I can't say he's the flyest guy ever, because that goes to Jamie Foxx.. But DANG the boy has some serious swagger to him, and it works! Plus, he's a good singer, and his performance was great. And maybe I'm brainwashed into thinking that, but it's okay.

On the opposite of fly, we had Rihanna's dress. It looked like an oversized napkin.. Am I right?! I love her, I think she's great. But that dress has GOT to go.
On the other hand again, Chris Brown looked cool.. He had a different type of suit on. He reinvented the definition of a suit, and I approve.

Oh snap! Kanye finally won his first AMA! Two even!! Check him out! I wonder if it happened because of all his complaining last year. Either way, he got them, and he definitely had some interesting things to say about it. First he wanted to remember Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and the Beatles.. He then went on to say that people like him, Rihanna, Chris Brown, etc are those people, and they have to do better than the past. He said he wants to be Elvis... Interesting. Thennn, his second award he gave to Wayne because he said that's who deserved it. He said last year, it should have been his, but this year, Wayne got it. That's nice of you, 'Ye. As much as I hate on your cockiness, I think I liked your comments at the AMA's... However scripted or whatever they might've been.

Did anyone else think Leona Lewis sounded a little country? She is an AMAZING singer [and thank goodness she didn't sing Bleeding Love!!] and she definitely showed it on Sunday night.. But it had this different genre feel to it, and I liked it.

Miley, Miley, Miley... She sang "Fly On The Wall".. And it was.. Uhhh, interesting... To say the least. She was jumping and screaming and dancing and whatevering all over the stage. It was NOT very Disney-like, but I guess we've known she's not the most innocent girl ever, huh? Especially because it was her 16th birthday! [Happy Birthday, Girl!!]

Honestly though, as weird as it was to watch, it was a really good performance. Kind of reminded me of something Pink would do.

Mariah Carey is a bad lip syncer. Very bad. And very obvious.

Beyonce.. How many times must we see the same booty-shakin dance moves that we see EVERY performance you give?! I'm kinda over it. Oh, and the white girl dancing next to you, was terribly awkward. Pick someone better next time. The funny thing was seeing everyone in the audience dancing and getting into the performance, though. Good stuff.

I've already touched on Sarah McLaughlin and Pink in a previous post, but I have got to say, that was one of the better performances I have seen in a LONG time! Seriously, they pulled of magnificence. Another collabo was Alicia Keys and Queen Latifah.. And some other lady I didn't know that my DVR cut off; Ugh. Alicia is always good. [And she looked a LOT better performing than she did throughout the night with the random jewel hanging down. That was weird.] Latifah was a little on the weirder side, I think, but it wasn't bad!

And how about Chris Brown as artist of the year?! Hmmm... I mean, I think he's great, I think he's definitely everywhere. I think his songs are always being played, and I'm okay with that. But, I think there are more talented, played out, talked about, etc artists out there that could have gotten the award. *Cough Lil Wayne Cough* Even if I would have voted for Chris, I don't know if he's the most deserving.. Sorry.

But yeah, if you missed the show, you missed out. I love what they're doing with awards shows these days. It's a lot MORE performing, and a lot LESS random nonsense/handing out awards/listening to acceptance speeches.. And that's how it should be for something that is televised for all of us. :)

Until next time--

love,
elizabethany.
