watch: the lonely island and nicki minaj do the creep

YES! The Lonely Island guys have struck again! This time with help from Nicki Minaj.

I think this is one of my faves. AND they have a dance to go along with it... AKA it's gold.

Get your arms T-rexin' and do the Creep.

Perfection. As usual. Can't wait for their full album, it's going to be epic.

watch: kanye and a miley impression on snl

I've never been a big watcher of Saturday Night Live. I normally just rely on the Internet to fill me in the next day.

That's what I did this week, and now I'm going to fill you in because it's worth it.

First of all- Kanye was on this week, and he [of course] performed "Runaway."

Really, Kanye? The same outfit? The same backdrop? All you did was add a couple ballerinas to spice it up a little bit?

Here I am worried about wearing the same outfit to work twice, and he's wearing the same eye-catching suit to two of his biggest performances of the year.

I'm not impressed.

What is impressive- Vanessa Bayer's Miley impression. It's spot on.

I don't know about the head tilt up thing, but everything else couldn't have been better. Agreed?

Who was the star of the show? Kanye or Vanessa? I say Vanessa... just sayin'.

watch: betty white is going to rock snl

Betty White is going to host Saturday Night Live on May 8 and it's very possible it's going to be the best episode ummm... Ever.

Why? Well, because she's Rose. Also because this promo tells me so:

I will definitely be catching this episode on Hulu or NBC's website the next day. Then I'll be hoping for even more epic old people... err... cougars... to be hitting that stage.

watch: the lonely island's boombox

Andy Samberg and the Lonely Island guys are back at it again! [Can you believe this is only the 5th video they've made, though?! Maybe that's why they're not getting old... Yet.]

They teamed up with Julian Casablancas for "Boombox."

The song I didn't think was the funniest they've ever done, but the video had be laughing out loud. The fact they showed a bunch of old people when talking about getting crazy is amazing.

Well done, once again. They're going to have everyone singing about a boombox within a week.

watch snl: alicia keys and the booty call

When I saw Alicia Keys was going to be on SNL this past weekend, I figured she'd be next to join Andy Samberg in greatness.

I thought it'd be a little more musical than what they created, but it's still magical.

Watch the Booty Call... Now!

True: It could have been better. Also true: It was pretty freakin' funny.

Thank you, SNL!

watch: taylor lautner defends girlfriend taylor swift

[Alright so apparently it's still not "confirmed" that the two young Taylors are dating, but let's be real... They're practically yelling it from the mountaintops.]

This weekend SNL featured Twilight star Taylor Lautner, who took the time during his monologue to stick up for birthday girl Taylor Swift.

Stick up for her why? The Kanye situation. Apparently no one is going to let this one go anytime soon.

Seriously, guys, it's been 4 months since he took over the stage, and it's time to give it up. T. Swift spoke her peace on SNL, the Country Music people spoke their minds, and the Internet gave up at least a week of its time.

It's over. Dead. Pounded into the ground. RIP. [Hopefully.]

On the other hand, your back tuck was pretty sweet, and even though you missed the kicks, I remain impressed, Taylor.

watch snl: shy ronnie

Saturday Night Live is really on a roll now. These shorts/songs with Andy Samberg and various celebs are genius. I never really thought such things were funny, but now that I understand the comedy, they all have me laughing.

Here's the latest from this weekend, featuring Rihanna and "Shy Ronnie."

The best part is that they can all be real songs with their beats and sounds, so people will totally be playing this at parties.

I can imagine plenty of people coming up with their own "Shy Ronnie" verses too.

Have one you want to share? Do it below, duh.

watch: taylor swift on snl

In case you were hiding in a cave for the past week, Taylor Swift hosted SNL this past weekend.

I don't think any of her performances really changed how I feel about her... A little dull, trying too hard, ya know.

Her monologue started out really stupid, then made me chuckle once or twice, but that's our little secret.

Nothing over the top funny, that's for sure.

What did catch my eye was when she played Kate Gosselin on The View. Everyone looked pretty dead-on, and it was relatively funny.

Whyyyy am I so sick of J&K yet I'm always mentioning them?! It's a terrible cycle! Help! Someone get us all out of it!

Anyway... Good job, Taylor... And your exploding hedgehog haircut imitation.
It's a shame Kanye wasn't really there to interrupt. It would have been classic.

watch: the latest snl short- fighting the system

Looks like there's another saying everyone will be shouting at random! This one could be dangerous, though.

Andy Samberg is back with another SNL short and he's fighting the system with this one... And throwing everything ON THE GROUND!!

Please... People... Just think before you start throwing things on the ground, okay? It may look cool in the video, but I don't think you'll be as hard ass as Andy after the fact if you're throwing your Blackberry on the sidewalk.

On another note... I can only imagine the types of things people will be saying then screaming ON THE GROUND afterward. RIP I'M ON A BOAT!

watch: from dick in a box to mother lovers

Justin Timberlake and Adam Samberg are back at it again! This time they're throwing out their boxes and putting the moves on the people who celebrated a holiday today... Their mothers.

Wait, that sounds wrong. Each other's mothers...

It's really pretty awkward when you think about it, but isn't that what makes all of these SNL skits so funny?! Yessireebob.

The fountain is one of my favorite parts, I think. And I still don't know that anything will beat out Dick in a Box, but that's just because it was unexpected. Now SNL is back at it and making some good ish!

JT's a funny guy, for sure. And I'm excited to see Adam host the MTV Movie Awards. Make or break time, buddy.

watch: the next jizz in my pants

Forget Dick in a Box. Move over Jizz In My Pants. I'm On A Boat? Psh. There's a new guy in town. The Boss.

This is the newest video from the Lonely Island, featuring funny man Seth Rogen.

[Be careful who you're around when you listen!]

I love it. "p-word out.. LIKE A BOSS!" I like this better than JIMP I think. Hmm.

What can you come up with? ______, LIKE A BOSS! Fill in the blank. It could be like the new FML.

don't call it a comeback

It's the first Top 10 Thursday of 2008, so it's only fitting that this chart has something to do with the year that just recently came to an end.

When I look back on 2008 in an "entertainment" kind of way, all I can think of is all of the comebacks that happened throughout the year. It wasn't just in the music world.. But old TV shows were back and alive again.. Sports were really making a comeback that they had hoped for, and things that we thought were buried alive and a thing of the past suddenly became a thing of the present again.

So, today, I look back on the year and present to you
The 10+1 and an Honorable Mention [AND an A for effort category] Comeback Kids of 2008

A's for Effort: Backstreet Boys, Jessica Simpson, Brandy

All of these people certainly tried to make a comeback, but didn't get too far with it.. And maybe have some time to go. The Backstreet Boys went on a tour overseas, and released a song that didn't make it very far. They did, however, perform on the finale of TRL, which may have helped.. A little? Jessica Simpson did her best to come back into the music world by going country. Though her one single "Come On Over" did pretty well, ratings for her performances did not. Who knows if we'll keep hearing much more, unless Mr. Romo uses his powers, somehow. [After all, she is more known for being his bad luck than a music artist.] Brandy just released a new album [the first in 4 years] and debuted at #15, as well as released 2 singles, one of which [Right Here (Departed)] reached #1.

Honorable Mention: Travis Barker
The Blink-182 naked drummer hadn't been in the limelight since the band faded out in 2005. Then he collaborated with DJ AM. Though many people really recognized his comeback at the VMA's in September, they really paid attention after their plane crash less than 2 weeks later. Though it was something tragic that really got everyone to look his way, they're back to rooting for him whole-heartedly.

10+1: Boy Bands
Figuring I mention 2 boy bands that made a comeback this year in this list, you have to give credit to the whole idea in general, also. NKOTB is back, and BSB is trying to.. But that's not all. We welcomed Day26 into the world, and now the R&B group Brutha is on the scene as well. The JoBros are the biggest thing to happen to Disney since Miley Cyrus, and Boyzone, a UK boy band, is said to have one of the biggest comebacks of the year throughout the internet. They're baaa-aaackkk.

10. 90210
The show came back revamped for the first time since the original ended in 2000. It helped create individual comebacks for people like Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth, AND brought Degrassi's Shenae Grimes and Weeds' Tristan Wilds into a bigger and brighter spotlight. Though the ratings aren't as high as everyone had hoped, it's getting about 3.4 million viewers weekly, and was nominated for "Favorite New Drama" at the People's Choice Awards.

9. Kid Rock
It's been about 7 years since Kid Rock came out with a song or album that really did anything for his credibility, but with the release of "All Summer Long," he was back in the spotlight.. And not just in one "world." The single played on virtually all types of radio stations from country, to rock, to Top 40/Pop stations. And even though the summer is long over, chances are you'll still hear it every day. He even performed with Lil Wayne on the CMA's as well as the VMA's, and is set to perform at this year's Grammy Awards.

8. The Miami Dolphins
The team that ALMOST made history by being the first team to go 0-16 in the NFL, suddenly isn't so bad. At the end of last season, Bill Parcells stepped in, kicked everyone out, and transformed the franchise. They finished this season 11-5 and with the AFC East title, something they haven't had since 2000.

7. Sex and the City
It had been about 4 years since we met any new boyfriends, or saw any new sex scenes from the girls in the city, but finally dreams came true as they took over the big screen in May, making close to $60 million in just the first 3 days. Suddenly, it's the record holder for the top-opening R-rated comedy of ALL TIME. And, if that's not enough.. We have more to look forward to.. Like a sequel in 2009 or 2010.

6. New Kids on the Block
Ever wanted to see a bunch of grown women go nuts? Work at a radio station with NKOTB makes a comeback tour. It had been 14 years since the group was together and making great music, but they came back with "Summertime" to catapult them back into everyone's hearts. The same 5 dancing men, no longer "kids", took over the charts again hitting #1 for their single and comeback album, "The Block."

5. Pink
After divorcing her husband of 2 years Carey Hart, Pink wasn't about to fade out. In fact, the summer gave her her biggest single of all time, and the only one to ever hit #1, "So What." She also debuted her new album "Funhouse" at #2 and is said to be one of the most provocative, personal, and "poptastic" albums of the year.

4. AC/DC
For a band that can be considered "classic rock," it sure did make it big this year. Their album "Black Ice" sold over 700,000 copies in its first week. And oh yeah, it was only being sold in Wal-Mart. It also marked their first #1 album since 1981, and their first album since 2000. They even played a major part in the sales of Rock Band 2.

3. Robert Downey Jr.
He was voted the "Entertainer of the Year" by Entertainment Weekly thanks to his roles in Iron Man and Tropic Thunder, and is set to play the lead in the upcoming Sherlock Holmes movie. It was definitely needed for the star who battled with substance abuse for 5 years beginning in 1996, and then a couple relapses inbetween then and now. Now the 43 year old is back on the A-list stronger than ever.

2. Saturday Night Live
For a show that was definitely falling off the radar, the election couldn't have come at a better time.. And there couldn't have been better candidates for the show to imitate. Thanks to Sarah Palin, fan favorite Tina Fey came back and took part on the highest rated episode [alongside the loser-VP candidate] since Nancy Kerrigan hosted in 1994. Suddenly people were catching all of the videos online, and tuning in to boost the ratings to 5.5, and which could have made it the #3 show for 18-49 year olds had it been primetime.

1. Britney Spears
Call me biased, I don't care. The girl went from complete trainwreck to winning her first VMA [and it wasn't the only one], having her 7th top 10 hit with "Womanizer," which was also her highest debut single ever at #3, AND her album "Circus"sold over 500,000 copies in the first week, debuting at #1. One year ago the pop princess was wearing a hot pink wig and being the "Amy Winehouse" of right now... And now, at the absolute perfect time after being chastised for what seemed like forever, she's looking hotter than ever with a slimmer body, and a great album, with tons of fans to back her up. It's Britney, b*%#@.. And even though she said it's not a comeback, she's back.

So there ya have it. The people that have once again come back into our lives without a doubt, and should remain in the spotlight for more than just a quick second. We know who they are, they're familiar faces, and it's going to stay that way thanks to good decisions career-wise.

Welcome back, guys.. It's good to see ya.

bad karaoke

Okay so who saw SNL THIS weekend?!

If you're a Kanye fan, I hope you did. Or maybe for your sake, I hope you didn't.

He performed "Love Lockdown," minus the infamous vocoder that we hear on 50% of the songs these days, and well, it was rough.

It seriously is like a bad, not even drunk but just really bad karaoke performance. It almost hurts to listen to it. I definitely didn't make it the whole way through.

I wonder if his vocoder mic didn't work, or he planned this. Either way, I bet we can expect a Kanye BREAKdown because of it.. Very soon. Even though his fans are remaining true and letting him know they thought it was the most amazing performance on SNL...........

Uhh, can't say that I agree.. Even if the rest of the effects throughout the performance were pretty cool, you're not meant to be a singer, Ye.

amazingly contagious

Since it's too late to do a Top 10 Thursday [Ugh, I'm sorry I suck! :(] I'm just going to share some Top 10 lists with you this weekend.

I said I love the end of the year because of these lists, so be ready for 'em.

Right now, I present to you, the most viral videos of 2008.

10. The Late Night Wars of O'Brien, Colbert, and Stewart.
I don't think this is the actual video.. But with as "viral" as it is, I'm not sure I can find the specific right one. Who knows... I don't find it all that funny either, but I'm not a huge Late Night watcher.

9. The Grand Central Freeze
This video is AMAZING. Or, the concept is and what they did. If you haven't seen it, you need to. I can't even imagine being there when this happened. I would have geeked out.

8. The Puppy Cam
I never heard about this, or watched it, but apparently it was a live stream of a litter of puppies as they were born, grew up, and found new families.. And over 4 million people kept up with it. Wow.

7. Sarah Silverman's "I'm [Effing] Matt Damon"
Hilarious. Her and Jimmy are seriously the most hilarious couple ever. Agreed? I think so.

6. Paris Hilton Runs for President
In a response to McCain saying that Obama was celebrity like her and Britney, Paris had quite the comeback. Funny.. Even though it's her. :)

5. Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog
I haven't watched this, and it's 43 minutes long, so I'm probably not going to. But, maybe you'll have the patience. I've heard it's funny.

4. will.i.am's "Yes We Can"
All of my from-the-beginning readers know how much I LOVE this video/song. If for some odd and terrible reason you haven't seen it yet, you need to.. NOW.

3. Christian the Lion
I just posted this a couple of days ago.. And I agree.. It's incredible. In case you don't believe the actual video, check out everyone reporting on it.

2. Sarah Palin comes to SNL
Seeing Tina Fey do Palin was the best [literally.. look below] but when she came on herself, it was ALMOST just as good... Almost.

1. Tina Fey does Sarah Palin
We've seen them, or at least heard about all of the videos by now. Tina was awesome.. Perfect even. And everyone witnessed it. And it probably brought a lot of fans back to SNL.

The top 4 of this list, I completely agree.. But I haven't even heard of #5, and I do my share of surfing the net. Maybe I'm just ignorant to long videos. Who knows.

Ohh how you have changed the world, YouTube... It's incredible.

the newest craze?

A lot of people are saying this is the new "Dick in a Box" from SNL, but I wasn't sure whether or not ANYTHING could ever live up to that video/skit.

Instead of drilling what I think ahead of time, you should watch for yourself and decide if it matches up or not...

Who am I kidding? Of course I'm going to tell you what I think. I don't think it lives up to any expectations that there might have been.

Yes, it's hilarious. And the first time you hear it, you're not sure what to expect, so you're surprised and that makes it even funnier.. But in order to impress me with a "sequel" or whatever, it's gotta be REAL good.. And this was just good. :)

Lyrics- Hilarious. Overall video- Okay.

I did love your quick cameo though, Justin!

elizabethany

PS: Does anyone else think that one of the guys looks EXACTLY like Morgantown rapper and WVU Homecoming king D-Why!?! I do. It's creepy.

work it boy

Have you guys seen Justin Timberlake and Beyonce from LAST week's SNL?!

I had heard about it, but never seen it until yesterday's Ellen [That turned me into a Beyonce fan, as Ellen has a way of doing]. It's pretty hilarious.

First of all, Justin has better legs than most of my girlfriends, definitely including me. Second, he is WORKIN IT!!! He's better than some of her real dancers!

I wish I could get the full, actual video.. But it's MIA. Sorry!

I want to see more of this, and pronto! This is exactly what I would do to make fun of her. Yesss.

Good work, everyone!

the final hoo-rah

So who was lucky enough to get that last spot on Saturday Night Live just 3 days before the election??

Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain.

And of course, Tina Fey was back again as Sarah Palin! :)

It's pretty hysterical. The opening was a commercial of sorts on QVC, because "that's all he could afford" unlike Barack Obama's thirty minute advertisement thing on Wednesday night. They also touch on a bunch more things, of course.

Check it out-->

Haha, they did good! They're certainly rockin' the political skits this year! I love it!

This Saturday after the results are in should be great, too. But then what? Guess we'll wait and find out..

in case you missed it

SNL featured not only our favorite Sarah Palin.. I mean, Tina Fey, but also WILL FERRELL as George Dubya Bush.

Quick highlights:
  • Ferrell mentions that the VP is actually more important than the Pres.
  • Tina Fey talks about how her and McCain go shopping. Ha. Get it?
  • Will does Bush's eyes PERFECT. I love it.
  • "A vote for John McCain is a vote for George W. Bush."
I'll be honest.. I always liked SNL, but I never watched it all that much. Ever since this whole election thing, and how great Tina Fey does, I look forward to catching the clips! Of course, they know that too, seeing as they expected their ratings to skyrocket last weekend.

Ahh, whatever will we do once the election is over?!

Take a sigh of relief, probably.

Until then,

he's responding

After Sarah Palin's basically record-breaking performance on SNL, Barack Obama and his team are not ready to let her get all the shine.

There are tons of legit rumors going around that Mr. Obama will be on Saturday Night Live again on November 1, just 3 days before the election.

Hmmm... Good or bad timing if it does happen? I'd say good, unless he does a terrible job.

He was on Ellen this morning, too, dancing and cracking jokes about the election and how it's working. He said Michelle can dance better than him, but he's certain that he can dance better than McCain. He also gave a motivational speech for "Clooney Watch '08." [Ellen, now on the Warner Bros lot, is trying to get Clooney on her show any way that she can.] It was a good one.

Really though, what do you think about him possibly being on SNL Nov. 1??

Good luck, B! I'm rooting for you, of course! I hope you can do better than Sarah!
