some things to hold you over

I'll admit, I feel like a complete waste of a person going two days without any valuable posts. It's weird.. I feel like I've had some great, productive days... yet nothing to show for it on here!

Starting Monday, I'll be doing my gift guide again with all sorts of random things you should get people, but until then, look at this picture of Oprah....

Alright, I'm sorry about that. How 'bout just inform yourself that these two are real life brother and sister.....

And enjoy the most clever bumper sticker of all time.....

Wonder why you've never ordered one of these......

Laugh at this......

And live by this.....

Also, follow me on Pinterest, because I've officially pinned over 4,000 things.
Follow me on Twitter because I post likes like every 30 minutes during the day.
Like me on Facebook because I post pictures like the above every day.
And FRIEND me on Facebook because... well.... I need more friends.

Have a fantastic weekend!

what ya wearin wednesday 112812

Some people are all "wahhh, I don't look cute today, why couldn't you have done this yesterday?!" I have a couple things to say:

  • Because it's Wednesday, and I do this every Wednesday
  • Who cares what you look like? Crop your face out. Or realize that I get a good variety of pics sent in.
  • Quit ya whinin'
  • You shoulda taken a pic yesterday and sent it today. I woulda never noticed.
Mmkay, now that that's outta the way, let's look at my true friends! ;)

Katelyn on Facebook is clearly full of life, just like her wardrobe! Love the colors.

Okay, so any time anyone wears red, it's awesome... @ksnedegar

I'm pretty jealous of these boots @kendlechappelle got on Black Friday.

@JaceBarrow is so adorbs, I'm assuming everyone else is falling in love with him just looking at this, too.

@Siarrahhh is all trendy with boots, jeggings, and a crop top! But that mirror is making me nervous.

@jannashepherd fresh outta zumba... trying to motivate me or something. Pfft.

@BrookeonHOT sported shorts in the cold weather, and rocked em! Love that necklace.

@AmbitiousPrime was working today... for the Houston Texans!!

Kelly on Facebook was sporting some Crocs... because of work. [Phew]

The pretty/more rugged combo is fantastic on @KaciKruz!

I can't tell you how much I love @chassidy_may's stripes, sparkles, and leg warmers! And her eyes. I found this week's girl crush.

I don't know how old @AlexisTwohig2 is, but I assume pretty young.. which makes me appreciate her Biggie shirt even more.

I wore a lot of my Black Friday items today. This scarf is about to become a serious staple:
  • Leopard scarf [the most comfortable and warm and awesome thing ever] from Charlotte Russe for $5
  • Yellow cardigan from Papaya for $10 [$20 at Target]
  • Tee from F21 for $5
  • Jeans from Charlotte for.... 15ish?
  • Leopard flats from Rue21 for $12 [similar]
  • Leopard heart earrings from bluelans.com for $1!
  • TOTAL: $48

I also decided to get Slutty in on the action while we were working on some Christmas card photos:

Yeah, she wasn't too happy.

That's that for this week! Another good one! Let's keep it up, shall we?!

PS: I'll be sending out Christmas cards within the next couple weeks. If you want me to send your way, just holler!

watch: pretty acoustic cover of "get low"

If you're at work, you need to stop whatever you're doing and put on some headphones. If you're not, you need to turn your volume all the way up. This ish is GREAT.

Dude goes into a coffee shop and performs an acoustic version of "Get Low"... ridiculous words and all.

How BEAUTIFUL is that!?!? It's like, part of me is laughing and part of me thinks it's the prettiest song ever.

BRB, I'm gonna go download it like, right now.

nifty: wine ice cream

If this isn't the perfect thing for a girls night, I truly don't know what is.

Allow me to introduce you to wine infused ice cream from Mercer's. Yes, I'm serious.

It looks delicious and sounds delicious, with FIVE FLAVORS:

  • cherry merlot
  • chocolate cabernet
  • peach white zinfandel
  • port
  • red raspberry chardonnay
  • riesling
Did I mention it has 5% alcohol?! That's more than your average beer. I think I just found a new way to get drunk. [I mean... a new way to enjoy my evenings, Mom...]

Obviously I had to email them because their website is a bit confusing for an ADD chic and I need this in my life! Unfortunately it's not readily available in stores in the DMV, but they did tell me Texans are in luck if they wanna find it in a store. The rest of us gotta call to order for $7.95 a pint!

If Santa's looking at this, I hope he knows I really want this in my stocking... hopefully in something that won't let it melt. Then I'll plan the most epic girls night ever.

watch: dc gangnam style

Everyone's doing their own versions of Gangnam Style, and most of them are totally womp and making it lame.

BUT... Patrick did his all around DC, hitting tons of the best places in the city, in the perfect outfit, and without making you sit through the entire song. Shoot, not even half of it!

I appreciate the entire thing.

The Ben's Chili Bowl scene= the best! Not just cuz of the place, but I totally enjoy the shot.

OPPA DC STYLE!

pinspired outfit: bright cardigan and scarf

Technically I never said how long this challenge would go on for, but I planned on 10 days/outfits. That's not going to happen. BUT I'M NOT A QUITTER! I just really want to start wearing my new clothes from Black Friday and I don't have time to get ready/dressed every day right now.

I still have one outfit to share, though! On Wednesday I copied this pretty simple outfit I pinned over a year ago.

[My head is huge.]
-Cardigan- Last Black Friday at F21 for $12 I think. [similar from Old Navy]
-Scarf- I really have no idea where I got it... but I never spend more than $8 on them. [Similar colors for $15 or $10]
-Jeans- F21 for $10
-Boots- From JustFab BOGO free, so technically each pair was $20.  [I don't recommend that site at all, by the way. Every pair of shoes I've gotten have had a defect or been terribly uncomfortable. I'm wondering if ShoeDazzle is better?!] [Here's a better site for similar/better ones]
TOTAL: $50 [No idea where the original came from]

It's actually a normal scarf, but i tie it at the ends and tuck that in the "drapery." I don't think the trick works for all scarves, but the thinner ones fo' sho.

If you wanna check out all of my Pinspired outfits, click here! I definitely plan on doing more, they'll just be more sporadic. Also, if you ever wanna be featured with your pinspiration, you know you should just holler at me!

watch: the best of cory and topanga, to celebrate their return to coupledom!

I'm so beyond giddy I can't even explain it. It's official: Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are going to be in Girl Meets World!!!
Who knows if the show will be as awesome [or as awesome as we remember it being], what matters is that the one couple the world can still believe in, always and forever, is Cory and Topanga. And once again, they're proving it!

So, let's reminisce on the good ol' days, shall we?! Here are some of the best moments of the best couple to ever exist.

Looking back, Topanga was such a sass! She had all the confidence in the beginning, and Cory was more the glue as they grew up.

They're freaking perfect. Is it 2014 yet?!?!

what ya wearin wednesday 112112

I'm a bit late getting this post up, but there's no way I'd miss it! I was so excited with everyone getting into WYWW last week, and so many new faces!

Let's get on with the show! The show of hotties.... teehee.

@JaceBarrow looks beyond great in red pants! Remember: Guys who wear red pants are the best guys.

@BrookeOnHOT stole a pretty, fake flower from her bathroom bouquet for the day!

@KaciKruz kept it casjh [that's how I'm going to spell the abbreve for casual] this week in sunglasses and a seat belt on her way home.

And @jannashepherd went with a cardigan and flats!

@Ksnedegar was lady in red. I LOVE this outfit for a work holiday part or something of the sorts!

@JenDBradley was proudly "nerding out!"

These animal hat/scarf/mittens combo are everywhere now! Including on @MJohnsonFTW

@ILDev_Bo was working from home in his Grumpy shirt! [Obviously working really hard on my app! He made it!!]

@Siarrahhh was celebrating having off for a couple days and rockin' her piercings.

@RomulaLynn matched her make-up to her scarf! Purple cheetah print on her eyes!

Dakota on Facebook says he looks this dapper every day! Love!

Isaac matches his shirt to his cast... that he has thanks to crashing his 4-wheeler into some trees. Woops.

And I'll post the full thing for my final Pinspired outfit [for now] later, but here's a sneeky peek!

I can't even explain how excited I get every time someone sends me a picture on Wednesdays! I also feel like I'm getting to know some of you a lot better and that makes me happy.

Get ready for another Wednesday! It'll be here before we know it and I wanna see your face and bod on this here blog!

pinspired outfits: a skirt kinda weekend

I'm a little behind in posting these this week, but someone once told me "better late than never!"

This past weekend was one of those weekends I actually felt like getting dressed. [Okay, that's half a lie. It's mostly because the outfits I pin are either really plain, or dressy...]

Friday's outfit was pinspired by an "interview outfit," but I don't know if my rendition would be so appropriate. Then again, the last time I had an official interview was... a long time ago.

I originally planned on wearing my orange pumps/clutch, but it was too bright. Had to bring down the brightness of the button-down with these terribly uncomfortable shoes.

-skirt from Forever21 for like $8 [get it now!]
-mint blouse from Target clearance for $14 [similar]
-shoes from JustFab BOGO, $20 [similar]
-clutch from NY&C, no more than $10 [similar]

I do really love the outfit, but I'm beyond confused on where to wear it in the future when I don't have a Pinterest challenge to blame. If you're in a workplace that isn't fancy or super casual, I feel like this would be good for you!

Also, normally stripes make me feel a little wide, but this one hides my "pouch" that I hate so much more than the next one.. and both make my booty look fantastic. [My legs, on the other hand, need a serious tan and good workout.]

I used to get all of my purses and clutches at NY&C on sale or clearance... until I moved here. The sale and accessories sections suck at my mall.

Saturday's outfit came from a pin I used to worry would never be recreated. Though it's not dead-on, it's totally pinspired, and I love it!

-skirt- again from Forever21, $9 [with sequins for $13 or same one]
-off the shoulder tee from Papaya for $8
-LC Lauren Conrad jacket for $25 at Kohls
-shoes from Target $20
-earrings from Body Central $1

I really hate long sleeves. The jacket doesn't stay on forever, which makes me wish I would have thrown on some necklaces, but I thought my earrings would be enough. Must. Learn. to Accessorize.

The skirt isn't sequins, which makes it a little more comfortable, but it definitely shows all the flaws or lines from shirts being tucked in. Underwear's gotta be optional with this baby.

Mint colored feather earrings and a simple french braid back completed [or so I originally thought] everything.

Neither outfit is perfectly like the original, but keep in mind the reason I do this is to show you don't have to go shopping or have every identical piece in your closet to get your "dream closet" on Pinterest. [I need to make sure I write this down and tape it to my credit card come Friday.]

love,
elizabethany

PS: Any suggestions are welcome, as usual! Thanks for voting for which shoes I shoulda worn with the last skirt! Big help for next time!

the american music awards: then and now

The American Music Awards last night spent some time reminiscing on "the good ol' days" throughout the show, but now it's time to see more. I wanted to compare last night's sights with those of the past.

Boy band performances... NSYNC in 2000 vs. The Wanted in 2012

Dirrty Christina in 2003 vs. last night

Cyndi Lauper in 1985 and 2012

Gloria Estefan rockin the stage in 1988, and the carpet in 2012.

Rappers on the red carpet... Snoop Dogg in 1998 and Luda returning in 2012

Jenny McCarthy co-hosted the show in 2003! And molested Justin Bieber last night.

In 1992, Boys II Men won the R&B/Soul award... while Usher [drunkenly] accepted it last night.

In 2003, Pink took the stage with an acoustic version of "Trouble..."

And last night she killed it with her "Try" performance...

And just for fun, here's what Britney Spears looked like in 2003, just two years after rocking that denim look with Justin Timberlake.

Last night's show was pretty good, I'm not going to act like I hated it. I was a tweeting machine most of the night, so you can see how I felt about it there...

Yay awards season! Judging people is fun.
