what i'm wearin: coachella 2017

I've been to plenty music festivals before, but Coachella is different than most of them. I'm typically worried about how much I drink and how silly I get... but at Coachella, it's about how you look and who you're with.

Before I share all of the things that I saw, let's get to the important stuff, shall we?!

DAY ONE:
I ordered these pieces while drunkenly going through ASOS clearance one night... knowing they were "Coachella-y" but having no idea what I'd do with them. The night I was packing I accidentally threw them on together and was real into it.

-velvet crop top: ASOS
-lace tie skirt: ASOS
-combat boots: JustFab
-shapers undies: Target
-peekaboo tat: Amazon
-necklace: F21
-heart sunglasses from Santa "Because love, elizabethany!"

For my make-up, I wanted to go real metallic-y. I found the eyeshadow with the most glitter and did a silver/blue smokey eye, with silver and black liquid eyeliner, and blue shadow on the bottom lash. I saw on Pinterest that "everyone at Coachella would have the lip line" and thought it was ridiculous, but ended up loving it. That's the same eyeliner that is on my eyes.

-eyeshadow: Urban Decay
-eyeliners: NYX
-mascara I swear by: Stila Extreme Lash
-lipstick: NYX Liquid Suede in Amethyst

DAY TWO:
This was my "basic Coachella" outfit, but I loved it. It's a little bit sexy, a little bit grunge, and another excuse to not wear a bra.

-bodysuit: ASOS
-jorts: Express [I had to order two sizes up from my usual jean size]
-belt: Boohoo
-booties: I forget. Probably JustFab or Target
-necklaces: F21 and Amazon

My make-up was a lot darker than Friday because in my mind it made sense for Saturday to be for the sultry. Also, rhinestones were a must each night. I thought I would like putting more on... over my eyebrows, in a design, who knows... but ended up keeping them simple.

-Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes
-NYX lingerie in Embellishment

DAY THREE
I planned all of my outfits ahead of time, but brought a few extras just in case. This top was an extra, but I liked it with the bandana, which I learned by day two that unless you want painful lungs the next morning, you should have a bandana handy.

-patched jorts from Forever21
-top from F21
-combat boots from JustFab
-bandana from Amazon

No matter what, I wanted a LOT of color for Sunday. We'd only be there during the day, it was Easter... color was needed. I used my Alice in Wonderland Urban Decay palette for a teal and purple eyeball, and eventually did a semi-ombre lip with two different Liquid Suedes from NYX.

A lot of people ask me how I do my eye make-up, and honestly, it's ALWAYS the same formula... normally 3-4 colors... I put a dark one above the crease, a bright one inside the corners of my eyes, a medium shade on the outside corners, and then one final color to blend it all. No real science to it... and most of the time I use my fingers until the blending color.

After MONTHS of looking for ideas on Pinterest and shopping and ordering and returning, I'm pretty proud to say I only copied one outfit, and I probably only spent about... $150ish on everything. I also gained a new love of bandanas.... it's gonna become a regular thing for me, I think.

27 fall looks i'm loving

I'm constantly on the 'gram taking screenshots of outfits I love and then doing nothing with them.... so I figured, why not gather them all on one fabulous post? That way, not only do I have a more convenient place to find them, but you can see too!

Most of them come from the @liketoknow.it account because, duh, it's a gathering of all the best bloggers.

Dressing down all that glitter- yes.

Surely you already know these button down suede skirts are EVERYWHERE.

So many colors and patterns in one!

Sometimes looks are so simple and effortless and I swoon.

How come I don't look this cool when I throw a jacket over my shoulder?

Plaid, camel, booties. There ya go, fall!

Hopefully we all have the striped dress, army jacket, and booties staples in our closets already.

Okay these over the knee boots and the vest and the fringe... a lot of pieces coming together flawlessly.

Note to self: Folded over socks are cool again. This is literally the easiest outfit ever.

All black everything, and a navy purse?! The hat, the vest... I want it all.

Turns out grey and camel/brown can actually work together in beautiful harmony.

Dear Santa, can I have this skirt that matches my hair?!

Turtleneck gets surprisingly more sexy when you pair it with over the knee boots.

I think I'll always love an outfit with a hat... and/or a skater skirt.

Everyone's talking about gold make-up... and this is the simplest and best version I've seen.

I'm also a pretty big fan of Jacy Overstreet's simple style.

The black/white/grey/denim= must do.

How come the shirt around the waist doesn't work this well for me?

And props to @fashionablykay as well

I've learned that ripped black jeans are all an outfit needs right now.

And my girl Kendi

A reason to stock up on graphic tees? Darn.

Some celebs also know how to help a girl out...

Zendaya just rolled out of bed and looks amazing. Sigh.

Hi Redskins colors on my girl Melissa Rycroft.

Ali Fedotowski also combining a bunch of trendy pieces for that basic but great look.

So when you see me post an outfit, it's probably a total copycat. I'd check one of those accounts for the real credit. I'm just keeping it real, duh.

weekend outfits: impeccably red

Have you listened to my super fun interview with Karmin yet? I love it... but also... I still love that she said my outfit was "impeccable." Here's what I wore:

Very simple, really...
-purplish-maroonish leather jacket from Target $15
-chiffon white tank from H&M- $5
-military green jeans from Charlotte Russe $15
-lace up boots from JustFab [ugh] $40
-silver and black necklace from Old Navy- $2

I really like the way the green and color of the jacket go... a contrast that seems to match.

And on Saturday, got a little Pinspired by this:

-red cardi from Charlotte Russe $15
-striped skirt from Forever21 $6
-fleece-lined leggings from Rue21 $6
-black booties from F21 $12
-old white scarf and red lipstick from ipsy

I like it when basics come together for something more. I'm still not positive I love the Saturday outfit, but it was fun for the night and made me feel confident, which no other outfit did at the time.

pinspired outfit: mixing black and brown with military

Mixing black and brown gives me a little anxiety... and I don't think that this outfit really helped that now that I look at the picture for entirely too long.

I was Pinspired by this here outfit, but didn't wanna rock the cowboy boots to work... Fail on my part. I should have.

I figured the ruggedness would work for me... but meh.
Anyway... here's the rundown:
-military green shirt c/o Kohl's... they have some similar options at F21 for $30ish.
-white short sleeved sweater from F21 years ago.. here's a similar one
-black jeans from Papaya for $15
-boots from GoJane.com for $15ish
-necklace from BlueLans.com

Also... I'm SO over slouchy boots. I need some thinner ones... I need some boot shopping time.

Ya see, it's all about wearing things and then realizing how it doesn't work for next time!

pinspired: i made myself a maxi skirt!

I don't know what's come over me, y'all. It's like... I actually want a sewing machine. WHAT?! I have all of these things I want to make and as much as I pretend my little fusible tape can do it all, it definitely won't... at least it won't look as good.

This time, I decided to make a maxi skirt! I had been boycotting the maxi trend the past two years because I thought it just looked weird on me and I couldn't figure out how to make them casual... but I was loving this easy idea!

I ordered a yard of a jersey material [or so it told me... it ended up being mostly polyester which wasn't awesome] for $4, and got to work!

I took the measurement of my waist, and pinned where it needed to be fused, then basically did a steady diagonal all the way to the bottom of the fabric [at first I did a more drastic diagonal at my hips, but that looked ridiculous].. then I ironed the fusible tape to seal it!

I put it on and folded it over twice and measured out how much I wanted to cut off the buttom, then did that.

And then I cut the tape in half so it was even smaller for the hem "seam."

Voila! I got me a skirt!

The only complaints I have are because of the fabric/hem tape that I used. The fabric/color shows every little dimple I have in my thighs, and shows the hem tape more than I'd like. The seam looks pretty good for the most part, but had it been sewn, it'd be perfect.

I'd also recommend making the bottom of your skirt more than 5 inches wider than your waist, if you want ample room to walk. I wanted the skinny skirt, so ya gotta decide which one is your style.

SO... if you have a sewing machine or can pick out your perfect fabric from a store instead of online, I'd say you need to make this. It's so easy, and I will absolutely be wearing it more.

elizabethany

PS: My outfit cost about $10 total, considering the skirt was $4, the shirt is so old but I doubt I paid more than $5 for it, the owl necklace was $1, and I had bejeweled black flops that I *acquired* from a friend.

pinspired outfit: white jeans and a denim vest

I know day 3 was Friday, but because I don't even know what a laptop is on the weekends, I'm just now getting around to updating. I decided to get pinspired by this outfit I found while searching for ideas for my new denim moto jacket.

I don't have a necklace that is anything like that, but I kinda have the other pieces, so I did what I could. I mostly loved the color combo and pretty but *rough* look to it.

I couldn't decide which options I liked best, so I actually wore the one on the left to work, and brought the necklace/heels to change into for going out that night.

On the left:
-denim vest from F21 $22
-tank from Charlotte Russe so long ago
-white jeans from Papaya $16
-aztec flats from Target $8
-necklace from F21 clearance $5
TOTAL: ~ $55

On the right:
-same vest/shirt/jeans
-pumps from Target $20
TOTAL: ~ $65

I really wish my vest was a little bit smaller, and if I'm being honest, I still have the tag on in hopes of finding it in a better size soon. They'll never know, right?! I also tried on the boots I have that are similar to those in the original pin, but I just don't think it went with my necklaces as well as hers.

While they're not identical matches, the combo of the colors and denim are what I like best. I'll be doing it many more times.
