what i've been wearing 030415

It's time for a little truth bomb.

A lot of the reason I've been slacking on posting outfits is because of gaining a little more than the typical "winter weight." This is pretty typical for me after a break-up. Chocolate just seems so much more satisfying than a piece of broccoli. I'm not looking for "oh shut up, you look fine" or anything like that. That makes things awkward. I'm stating facts. I know what I've gained and I'm working on getting back down cuz like... bikini weather.

Anyway, enough excuses. Luckily I can work some angles when I take selfies.

I got these new boots from UrbanOG and this was the easiest outfit to throw together. Whenever I get new shoes, I suck at doing anything besides matchy-matchy.
-shirt was thrifted
-Express jeans from TJ Maxx
-scarf from Groupon Goods

I got this polka dot shirt and knew it'd be great for layering, but it's also chiffon, so it'll be good alone too! I was also really excited about my hair. Somehow after I put the bobby pins in the same way I always do, it loosened up and looked like there  to hold in the soft braid.
-top from Target
-Express jeans
-jacket from random NYC boutique
-scarf from Love Culture
-H&M earrings
-shoes from SEARS! [I say that all caps because I'm shocked that I found one of my favorite shoes for this season there. They're so comfy, cute, and make my feet look small which is key for a bish with size 10.]

A random Friday night outfit mixin' and matchin' the black and white!
-blazer and lace tank from TJ Maxx
-Express jeans
-Forever21 booties
-BlueLans earrings

And my truly "I don't give an eff" outfit... this was my first time wearing leggings as pants in public. Really.
-top and leggings from Charlotte Russe
-boots from JustFab
-spikey earrings from BlueLans

There's a mini catch up. Now I'm going to get my ass in the gym because you can't complain about such things if you're not doing anything about it.

PS it's a milestone day! My blog has hit 3 million views! I don't know if that seems like a lot to you or not, but I'm pretty pumped. Thanks for continuing to support, even in my not-so-active times!

what i'm wearing: end of summer catch up

It's time for another catch up with outfit pics on my phone from the end of the summer.

I feel like I can wear shorts longer than I can wear tank tops. My arms get so much more cold than these meaty lower limbs. The cutout booties are perfect for transitioning too, I feel.

-green shirt jacket from Kohl's
-shorts from Kohl's
-floral tank from Forever21
-booties from Charlotte Russe

Wore this out to host one of my club nights [which I'll be hosting at Ultrabar again on October 24th, BTW]. Rocked the fanny, and became obsessed with the "scuba" material of the skirt.

-open back top from Forever21
-neon skirt from Forever21
-shoes from Charlotte Russe
-fanny pack from Charlotte Russe
-bandeau from H&M

This is one of my new favorite outfits. It's a high neck tank, but it's sheer and has an open back. I feel like I can get away with it at work with a tank underneath [really I can get away with anything, but I like to look 50% presentable] and then I switch to a bandeau when heading out.

-top from GoJane
-Express jeans
-wedges from Charlotte Russe

Now begins fall fashion. *sigh* I love the ease of scarf and boot season, but feeling hott when heading out is a lot more difficult, don't ya think?! Plus it's a lot more laundry and articles of clothing to match together. SO MUCH WORK.

this or that outfit polls

I think I just discovered a new thing I want to start doing! And there are even a few ways for YOU to get involved!

There are several things in my closet that are my own staples that I try and figure out different ways to wear them every day... and then there are also outfits where I can't figure out which accessories or something works best... so now I'm just going to ask you!

It started with this gray military jacket I dusted off from my closet. I used to wear it all the time [as you see in the header pic up there] even though it was uncomfortable. I tried it out again, and it fit way better than before! Now I can wear it buttoned up, which I never even considered before.

So... it's a simple change, but what do you think works best?

I've been obsessed with striped tanks for a while now because they're the easiest way to add a little something under jackets, cardigans, etc... plus they're the easiest pattern to mix-n-match with! This tank would be worn every day if it was acceptable.

Recently, I wore it around Philly with my favorite green jacket and tan boots, and again for an artist interview/performance with a pink blazer and booties. [I'm not sure if the cut of the neck droops with the pink because I wasn't wearing a tank underneath or it was stretched out.. woops.]

With these, I feel like they're so different it's not really about picking one or the other... right?!

And finally, I've been trying to pair up a scarf and blazer for a while, but for whatever reason I always think it looks way better on other people. When I posted an intoxicated selfie asking for opinions, everyone loved the final option. I tried two other accessories first, though- A coral bubble necklace and black chandelier earrings.

My idea for getting YOU involved is simple! If you ever have a hard time deciding on something with an outfit, send it to me, and we'll help you out! We're all friends here. We won't bite unless you deserve it. Just tweet or Instagram a pic and tag me [@luvelizabethany] or email it to me!
I'll also try to reach out to some of the WYWW regulars to do this soon.

pinspired outfit: mixing black and brown with military

Mixing black and brown gives me a little anxiety... and I don't think that this outfit really helped that now that I look at the picture for entirely too long.

I was Pinspired by this here outfit, but didn't wanna rock the cowboy boots to work... Fail on my part. I should have.

I figured the ruggedness would work for me... but meh.
Anyway... here's the rundown:
-military green shirt c/o Kohl's... they have some similar options at F21 for $30ish.
-white short sleeved sweater from F21 years ago.. here's a similar one
-black jeans from Papaya for $15
-boots from GoJane.com for $15ish
-necklace from BlueLans.com

Also... I'm SO over slouchy boots. I need some thinner ones... I need some boot shopping time.

Ya see, it's all about wearing things and then realizing how it doesn't work for next time!

what ya wearin wednesday 091813

I may be hella busy, but never too busy for some What Ya Wearin Wednesday! Let's check y'all out.

@bmpoulos is pretty in floral and fun heels!

I LOVE @vivalasole's matching yellow scarf and shoes!

@laceyy_peterson's cross shirt and black shorts is an excellent season-transition outfit!

Totally dig the all dark outfit with matching camel boots/scarf on @melmoraes... Even though I can't believe we're in boots/scarf mode already.

Also pretty in black and white floral: @ksnedegar

@mollskat always has perfect makeup.. like today!

@florasenmipelo is the queen of mixed patterns, just like these!

Comfortable but still cute- it's @llindsbb

Another great transition outfit: Long tank and boots like @Brookeradio!

Plaid and blazer... gonna be a big combo this year and @kimmisaurusrex is ahead of the game!

@curlypso got some fun new boots!

@RomulaLynn had some fun pinspired make-up! I enjoy double liner.

@amsnedegar is making all of us [or me, anyway] feel bad for not working out as she looks all fit and ish.

@sydmelissa08's watch and entire outfit are just fantastic.

@toribabyy14 got a new outfit to show off.. wine pants and lace-back chambray shirt with matching Toms!

@krystalllcurlzz's Sperry's are my favorite part.

how great is the dress @mickeyyy_d  tried on?!

It's the first couple days of chilly around here, so for drinks at the beach I had to cover up a little bit. I got that military style shirt because I hate wearing jackets [or anything long sleeved that's not super thin]. I'm pretty obsessed with it.
-Shirt/jacket: Kohl's clearance
-striped tank: F21
-jeans: F21
-studded black flats: Charming Charlies
-arrow earrings: Rue21
-new fanny pack for $5 that I'm pumped about: Charlotte Russe
-Total cost: $27

I always thought summer would bring out the best fashion, but it's clear that fall is where you guys shine, so fine.. bring on boot season!
