wearing: winter reds and blues

After talking to Danni from the Kane Show, I realized I'm going through what most people who just had a baby go through: A need for change. Or maybe it's the fact that I'm single now... or the fact that I feel like my fun purple hair doesn't match my wardrobe, but I'm in need of an all new closet. Something with edge. Something with sex. What?

All that being said, Black Friday is still a week away so I'm left with the basics. At least scarves make getting dressed easy. Take a scarf, match the outfit to the colors. That's what I did yesterday while reminding myself how pretty a bright red and light blue are together in the winter.

 I have a love/hate relationship with fall/winter weather. I'm glad I can bundle up/cover up the football season gut I've gained, but it really is not flattering for any figure. Do you ever feel like it just makes you look even bigger? Sigh. Is it summer again yet?

wearing: a mix of winter colors

It's time I start sharing my outfits regularly again so I feel better about buying all of these clothes just to wear to work where I don't really see anyone. 

I went to Charlotte Russe and stocked up on some much needed cardigans, and I'm pumped about this one. It's like part chevron, part aztec, and totally versatile.

-added some side braids to my hair to spruce up the pony.

pinspired outfit: bright cardigan and scarf

Technically I never said how long this challenge would go on for, but I planned on 10 days/outfits. That's not going to happen. BUT I'M NOT A QUITTER! I just really want to start wearing my new clothes from Black Friday and I don't have time to get ready/dressed every day right now.

I still have one outfit to share, though! On Wednesday I copied this pretty simple outfit I pinned over a year ago.

[My head is huge.]

-Cardigan- Last Black Friday at F21 for $12 I think. [similar from Old Navy]

-Scarf- I really have no idea where I got it... but I never spend more than $8 on them. [Similar colors for $15 or $10]

-Jeans- F21 for $10

-Boots- From JustFab BOGO free, so technically each pair was $20.  [I don't recommend that site at all, by the way. Every pair of shoes I've gotten have had a defect or been terribly uncomfortable. I'm wondering if ShoeDazzle is better?!] [Here's a better site for similar/better ones]

TOTAL: $50 [No idea where the original came from]

It's actually a normal scarf, but i tie it at the ends and tuck that in the "drapery." I don't think the trick works for all scarves, but the thinner ones fo' sho.

pinspired outfit: striped sweater and boots

Another season is here finally hitting this area, so it's time to do another Pinspired Challenge!

Even though it was actually 70 degrees today, it's been a lot cooler, so I feel more comfortable wearing boots and warmer clothes!

I think I have my entire 10 days already planned out, and many of the outfits I should be able to match almost identically, but today I used a pin strictly for inspiration, not to copy-cat.

This is the original outfit, costing $267 for the items I "copied."

Instead of using a cardigan, I found an awesome short-sleeved sweater that buttons down the BACK. 

The sweater is actually a neat material/woven style that I've never worn before..

• Jeans also from Forever21 for $10
• Boots from GoJane.com for $17 [Similar from Charlotte Russe]
• TOTAL= $32

I don't have the variety of accessories to pump up an outfit which makes me sad, but I can't come to terms with spending the amount of money on a necklace/bracelet as I could on a shirt or jeans. Maybe one day I'll come around, but until then, I'll accept them as Christmas presents! *wink wink*

When I was creating this outfit, I realized that you could really turn any cardigan into a button down back and vice versa! Take out the tags, and it could really transform an outfit! If you're going out, how great would it be to have a low cut back? I'm definitely going to be trying it. 

Also, these boots are my 'gettin dirty' boots. They definitely show some wear and tear, but I think that's how they're supposed to be. I'm certainly not mad about it for once. 

It's a hella simple outfit, and not the most-exact for pinspiration, but I enjoy it! Plus- it gave me more ideas for the future. YAY!

danchiz's pinspired geek chic style

Time for another guest Pinspired post! You might remember [one of my favorite people] DanChiz from the MTV TJ competition. Now he's an amazing style blogger and still kicking social media ass. He also enjoys Pinterest fashion just as much as I do, and has mastered the art of copying an outfit with different items.

I think of my style as geek chic. I like to take classic men's looks and make them more fitted. I like a tight look rather than a loose feeling.

I took inspiration from a post on Pinterest (the left look) and recreated it my way. The post from Pinterest is all full price clothing that retails significantly higher than my recreation. I searched the likes of Gilt, Loehman's and Bluefly to recreate the look. I think I did pretty well!

As you notice, my look is significantly more fitted than the Pinterest post. I kept the same color scheme and even managed to find a tartan tie that resembled the one from the Pinterest look. The only thing I did not manage to directly recreate was the desert boots. Desert boots can be a little pricey and boat shoes don't kill the bank account so I decided to wear those in the look.
