friday morning hangover 022814

I don't have nearly as much as I'd like this week thanks to being hella sick, but I always have something to share!

 Let's do it, Internet.
I can't even handle the cuteness of ANY of these this week! [Click the pic for more]

And this weekend... think outside of the box... get crazy... do something...different.

And for the love of our sanity, pray this winter storm goes straight to Canada, and we don't see snow until 2015... March is for colorful things.. like Mardi Gras beads.

photo diary: my trip to philly

It's been entirely too long since I've been to NYC, and had planned on going last weekend, but had a last minute change of plans and went to Philly instead.

Since I've never been there beyond getting a cheesesteak from Josh/Pat's, I was hoping Facebook could give me some good suggestions. I'll be honest.... I was laughing out loud at how bad some of them were considering I asked for no cheesesteak/'Google" suggestions..

BUT... I did find some good places and was able to take a couple pictures.

The first night was all about meeting up with fellow radio peeps. Some I had met before, some I hadn't... some I had worked with, some I had interned for... this job of mine is awesome in that we're all friends regardless of station affiliation. [Stupid reflective jacket.]

We also saw the most epic bar fight. They're on a completely different level in Philly, apparently. Bottles, bar stools, glasses, people, blood and more were flying, and bouncers/bartenders did nothing but get on the phone to "call the cops." I literally sat and laughed. It was unreal.

And now the rest of my pictures are from the Magic Gardens. One artist made a building and courtyard and a lot of the streets of Philly into his canvas for mosaics. It was incredible.

That Batman garage door was around the corner. I really have no idea what the entire row of doors was all about, but they were neat. The whole area of South Street was neat! I fully enjoyed it.

What I learned:

  • Cities could be a lot easier to get around than they are in DC if they'd just name the streets better.
  • If you wanna eat somewhere decent before 11pm in the city, you best make some reservations.
  • Having a dog while walking around the city on a nice day is a must.
  • You don't have to get involved in fights. Let it happen, call the cops, and buy new glasses, I guess.

My main resolution for this year was to travel more... and so far, so good!

what ya wearin valentine's day

Well... I thought I had posted this already... I must have dreamt it.

I really do miss seeing all of your outfits every week. It's a little bit of depression to start out every Wednesday... but I'll definitely be bringing it back for every holiday- so count on it!

Valentine's Day normally involves people getting really pretty or done up, or looking really hott... depending on your relationship status. What I failed to realize- it's one day that people are slightly selfless. Instead of showing off themselves, they're showing off what their boo has done for them. Still, some of you shared your looks with me!

Let's get to it!

@anroderick's makeup and hair looked flawless, but that scarf! Something seemed special about it.. and she told me it was actually made from flannel pj's!!

I love @acarles  touches of leather and pink to lighten it all up.

DAYUM, check out @l0vedreamwish's  leg [and cleavage!] coming out of that dress!

@m_cleave and her man both looked clean and sexy.

A little bit of floral and a little bit of rock on @muchachamary for a lot of perfection!

@bhensleyy had some pretty nail art!

I'm all about the red and polka dots on Valentine's Day, like @nicolegoesbynikki!

Also enjoy the simplicity but perfect color combo of @_8th_wonder's outfit!

SO much yes to @curly_kaay and her twin's matching outfits! A touch of 90s in there...

And I also forgot to take a full picture, but I had to wear this flower/heart tank I got from my swap party, and of course the red jeans... so I just topped it off with a brown cardigan I got many years ago and brown boots you can't see. [Damn snow preventing me from wearing pumps or even flats]

I tried to do a lot of things to my nails and failed at them all, so resorted to this red and pink ombre... but I like this so much better than anything I even attempted, so I ain't mad!

I hope everyone had a fantastic Valentine's Day! I hope you got spoiled... even if you spoiled yourself.

my new home: the difference new curtains make

I keep promising that I'll post all the changes I've been trying to make around this new apartment, but... well... I have an online shopping problem.. and boxes are constantly everywhere and as soon as I "finish" one "project," another one pops up.

I gave this little peek on Instagram a while ago...

The TV stand still needs drawers or doors, but every time I go to IKEA, I get the wrong size- go figure. The second biggest change in that room were the curtains, though. This apartment came with gross-gold drapes, and I knew they were hideous, but I didn't realize how much they can change a room until I experimented in my bedroom.

[Before I go and show you these, you need to know that this room will be my biggest project. So much of my furniture is from my sophomore year of college. It's been through eight moves. I finally got my first big girl bed, though!]

How ICK, right?!

Loved this pattern when I put it up against my yellow striped comforter, but the shorter length was a bigger deal than I expected.

I put these college-curtains up just in the meantime, and figured I'd show another big difference.

And here's my final decision [for now]. Look how much better the darker contrast and long lengths look!

Now I just need to rearrange everything so I like it even more. I've been using this website to experiment, but haven't figured out anything I like yet. The interesting part: It's the exact same dimensions as my room in Texas!

Curtains have to be the best way to quickly makeover a room, though. If you're not too picky on color/pattern, you could do it for like $25 and a trip to TJ Maxx. I spent hours and hours looking online, but ended up with a pair of panels from Target for a total $50.

Also... that chair is freaking me out, man. I took those pics on completely different days, but it's always in the same position. IS THIS PLACE POSSESSED?!?!

Aw hell... I'm gonna have to move again.

most desirable men's winter fashion

I got a message from Aaron on Facebook asking if I could put together a post with examples of guy's fashion that I/other betches like me might enjoy.

Thing is... as simple as it could be for guys to get dressed every day, there really are a lot of different styles/trends that look different on everyone... so you have to go with what's you. Also... I'm still nowhere near being a fashion guru. I'm still struggling to figure out my own way through that world, let alone give tips for dudes... but here we are.

I will say that the absolute most important thing, no matter what a guy is wearing, is the way it fits. There is absolutely nothing sexier than a man in a good pair of jeans [or pants in general]. Oh, and a good walk.... there's something about a good, confident walk...

I looked to my BFF Pinterest to come up with some examples of outfits/looks that did something to me..

I'm still not sure how I feel about the rolled jeans trend... but sometimes they work. With this outfit, I'm mostly liking the shoes and shirt and the ease of it all.

Pretty sure I would immediately hump someone wearing this. It's good and casual but seems like there's some effort involved.

Again, I'm not sure all guys can pull off a cardigan... but if you make it look laid back and not too prepster, I'm into it.

I just started noticing this style of sweater. It's almost like a modern turtleneck, right? Well, probably not... but it's a good thing to pick up if you see one on clearance these days [cuz the seasons are changing, fellas... so sales are everywhere!]

I enjoy the mix of patterns/fabric of these if you're getting a little more fancy. Especially that tie/jacket up there... and paisley ties.. yes please!

This is my BFF DanChiz. He rocks the rolled jeans, but especially the sweaters. Also... he knows his ties and has a lot of giveaways of all kinds on his blog.

Also... tWitch, who has been Ellen's "guest DJ" quite a bit this season and was on SYTYCD and had the most adorable wedding ever, has a really laid back but fun style that I always enjoy. [Unless it's the overall personality/gyration that I'm constantly enjoying... hard to say.] She has a whole board dedicated to her DJ's style!

Fashion is always about your personality, but this is just some examples of what my personality would be attracted to... and I think a solid amount of girls would agree with me. Just make sure it fits you... your body and who you are.

friday lovin' 021414

Happy Valentine's Day!! I hope you get spoiled today... even if it's you or a stranger doing the spoiling!

These are things I've been lovin' on the Internet.
Can we also talk about how AWESOME this wedding pic is from NYC?

And two things of pure truth:

Also... I'm bringing back What Ya Wearin' for Valentine's Day! Post pics of outfits/nails with #WYWVD and I'll post it on Monday!

weekend outfits: impeccably red

Have you listened to my super fun interview with Karmin yet? I love it... but also... I still love that she said my outfit was "impeccable." Here's what I wore:

Very simple, really...
-purplish-maroonish leather jacket from Target $15
-chiffon white tank from H&M- $5
-military green jeans from Charlotte Russe $15
-lace up boots from JustFab [ugh] $40
-silver and black necklace from Old Navy- $2

I really like the way the green and color of the jacket go... a contrast that seems to match.

And on Saturday, got a little Pinspired by this:

-red cardi from Charlotte Russe $15
-striped skirt from Forever21 $6
-fleece-lined leggings from Rue21 $6
-black booties from F21 $12
-old white scarf and red lipstick from ipsy

I like it when basics come together for something more. I'm still not positive I love the Saturday outfit, but it was fun for the night and made me feel confident, which no other outfit did at the time.
