What do you do to celebrate the holidays at work? Hand out some cards? Bring in some goodies?
I choose to get mostly naked and shoot a Nerf bow and arrow gun thing at my coworkers.... and Shaggy. Like Mr Boombastic Shaggy. Who randomly walked in when I was dressed like a frickin weirdo. He loved it.
This is the real way to show love in 2015, duh.
I wish you coulda seen the whole run-in with Shaggy. Homeboy came through the door and I had no idea he was early. "Oh... heyyy Shaggyyyy....."
Side note: Do you see that huge dent in my thigh?! That's not cottage cheese, that's an actual dent I got when I fell down the stairs during Santacon a year and a half ago. Sexy.
Sorry I'm not sorry to my coworkers. There will be more of this coming.
I feel like I was admitting more than he was, but here it goes... along with a clip of him performing the song, duh.
He was easily one of my favorite people I've ever met. SO cool, down to earth, and thankful for everything. He hasn't been gone, he's been winning awards for reggae music, but I'm pumped for his new song that could take over the summer.
Random choice for today- from 1995, Shaggy's "Boombastic."
Who knew it was cool for the boys to let their belly button peak out back then too?! I'm glad that AND the big, way too baggy clothes have faded... for now.
I had an idea one day when I was completely braindead to have the artists ask each other questions!
Not only does that take a workload off of me, but they come up with the weird and random stuff. Or the stuff that is really relatable to the fellow artists.
We plan on continuing this cycle, but here's what happened with Natalie La Rose, Shaggy, Ryn Weaver, Andy Grammer, and Katy Tiz!
*note: sometimes the video takes forever to load. working on fixing that!*
Missed last week, so I'm hoping I caught everything in case you didn't!
Here we go! I have officially updated my iPod, hopefully you will now too!
Lil Wayne--> How to Love Hopefully that link works forever! It's a lot different than the typical Wayne track. It's slow! I'm not a fan, but it has the ability to grow on me. The words aren't bad!
Matt Nathanson--> Faster
Um, obviously I welcome back any artist from the 90s and early 00s, so helloooo Nathan! I don't think this will be a huge song in top 40, but probably "the mom stations" as I like to call them. I totally dig it, but that's cuz I like this happy stuff, duh.
Mike Posner--> Cheater
I totally don't condone cheating but like... He's got a good point. I like this better than Bow Chicka Wow Wow, less than Cooler Than Me. Does that say enough?
New Boyz ft. Chris Brown--> Better With the Lights Off
I love this one, I really do. New Boyz haven't really struck me as "talented," and they still don't, but I can still get down to this song.
Rye Rye ft. Robyn--> Never Will Be Mine
Hmmm... I don't love this, but I don't hate it. I feel like it needs something else. It has an old school hint to it, but not in an OMG THIS IS AWESOME way.
Tinie Tempah--> Til I'm Gone
Another song that doesn't blow me away, but I don't hate it either. You be the judge? Kthanks.
YC ft. Future--> Racks
I think it's pretty awful, but people are talking about it, which baffles me.
Black Eyed Peas--> Don't Stop the Party
If they're going to have a song called this, coming out in the summer, I'd REALLY hope it'd be better than it is. It's not powerful enough. It's a disappointment and I'm mad about it.
Asher Roth ft. Akon--> Last Man Standing
He's sure come a long way from "I Love College." I can chill with this on, for sure.
Dustin Tavella- We Got the Summer
It started out kinda good, and I had high hopes... but I don't see this blowing up. Hmph.
LEAF ft. Sky Blu [of LMFAO]--> Uh Oh
The fact that someone from LMFAO is in it should tell you it's a good party song, and that, my friends, it is.
Shaggy--> Sugarcane
Candy listeners EXPLODED in good ways over this song, and completely shocked me! I think it's catchy, but it's not something to have me EXPLODE over! Either way, if it brings Mr. Boombastic back into my life, I can't complain.
That's all for today! Country music coming up tomorrow! Enjoy!
Hello! Happy Tunes on Tuesday, my darlings! Lots of stuff for today!
Jordin Sparks--> Battlefield
Is this going to be the replacement for last summer's "No Air"? If it is, I will hate it in another month. For now, it's not terrible. It grows on ya.
Jennifer Lopez--> What is Love
J Lo is back!? Well, Jennifer Lopez, I guess. It doesn't live up to her old stuff by any means, but it's not a "Oh no this can't be her comeback single" either. It could definitely get some plays.
Rihanna ft. Lady GaGa--> Silly Boy
Oh boy... These two combining could definitely take over the radio in a heartbeat. This song is too T Pain microphone for me, though. [And yes, that's how I will always refer to that sound.] Why'd they have to use it the WHOLE time?! The lyrics are fun, and I'm sure it'll do well, but I have that pet peeve.
Taylor Swift--> You Belong With Me
Ugh... Could I be falling into the Taylor Swift trap?! I CAN'T! NO! HOLD BACK, BETH!! This is a cute video, cute song... But it's typical. So typical. And will be played on every radio station and probably be on the next Now CD.
Justin Beiber--> One Time
This kid is FIFTEEN!!!! So basically.. The next Jesse McCartney? He's even got the long, shaggy, dirty blonde hair. And oh yeah, he hangs out with Usher on the reg apparently. He's pretty freakin' good!
Colby O'Donis--> I Wanna Touch You
As much as I didn't like this guy in real life, I'm not going to hate on this song. The lyrics are a lil lame at parts, but overall, I can dig it.
Paul Wall ft. Webbie and Mouse--> Bizzy Body
Here's another song that's stupid, but is going to be all over the clubs, and people are going to LOVE IT when it's played. One question: What kinda names are Webbie and Mouse?!
David Rush ft. Pitbull and Kevin Rudolf--> Shooting Star [Party Rock Remix]
This song immediately got me bumpin, not even gonna lie. Am I conforming to something, or just in the mood to dance? Downloaded!
Evan Taubenfield--> Boy Meets Girl
This guy is the former lead guitarist for Avril Lavigne and I'm bothered by this song. He sounds like he's 12, the song sounds like it was written by someone 12, and... No. It's just awkward. I didn't listen to much of it, and I made up my mind before giving it much of a chance, but I'll let you decide for yourself.
Alright, that's all for today! [Plus Dawn's song about Danity Kane from yesterday! Check it out!] Sorry country fans! I'll find some later!
