watch: the only 2012 year-in-review you need to see

I've always been so pumped to read the "best of the year" lists, but for some reason, I'm slightly over them this year.

That was until I saw this video. "What Brought Us All Together." In the beginning it's a little sad, I won't lie to you... but it gets happier, funnier, and straight up moving. Watch it all. You won't regret it.


It's basically all the biggest events, most watched YouTube videos, and talked about memes in one, skipping the celebrity nonsense. And it happens so quickly even someone with ADD can pay attention! Score!

I had goosebumps through the entire thing! And may or may not have nearly shed a tear. That was awesome, and I'm bookmarking that ish forever.

watch etv: completing olympic-themed dares!

Brandon and I were back at it again last week, completing the dares people submitted that were Olympics-themed!

We did synchronized "diving," belly flops, and super fast swimming... but I'll be honest- The "synchronized diving into personal space" is totally the new "Dance Dare."



How is it that we'd CLEARLY jump all up into their business, and they STILL wouldn't really notice anything going on behind them?! Yikes, this world is beyond oblivious. NONE of the "victims" ever even saw the cameras.

On a side note- I'm beyond sad the Olympics are over, but they were hella fun while they lasted, right?! Maybe we can do some Shark Week related dares or something now....

my week of red, white, and blue outfits

As you've probably definitely been able to tell, my life is revolving around the Olympics now. Because of my excitement, I challenged myself to a week's worth of AMERICA outfits!

This is difficult for two reasons: I wasn't sure how much red, white, and blue I truly had, but more importantly: I never really get dressed these days. [No one is in the building when I am, so who do I have to impress?! A whole lot of computer screens? No thanks.]

I did it, though! Well, 6 days worth. Sunday was spent in the ocean, so... my 'Merica suit was on, and that's about it.

I apologize in advance for the awful quality of the pics. I need a fancydancy camera for posts like these, but homegirl is poor.

MONDAY: 

White lace tank from Ross [$4], red shorts from Forever21 [I think $10 last year?], sock bun with blue ribbon, white sandals. 

TUESDAY: 

My "trashy 'Merica shirt" from Forever21 [$10], ripped jeans from Charlotte Russe [$20], white Keds sneaks that you can't see. 

 WEDNESDAY: 

Blue racerback-lace tank [wish I had taken a picture of the back! from Forever 21 clearance- $6], white jeans from Wet Seal [$15], red and cork heels from Rue21 clearance [$4], $1 red earrings from some cheapo store in the mall, and curly hair! My friends were in town from NoVA, so it was obviously a special occasion.

THURSDAY: 

[I can't believe I just posted a picture of my feet. GROSS.]

Simple and comfortable day- Blue dress from Forever 21 [$8], red polka dot flats from Wet Seal [$1] and an old white necklace.

 FRIDAY:

I had an event at Ocean Breeze Waterpark, so I went with a pretty see-through linen shirt from Old Navy clearance [$10], jean skirt from Forever21 [$10], and red, white and blue bathing suit top from Wal-Mart [$12]. 

SATURDAY:  

Chambray tank from Kohl's I think [~$15], red shorts from Forever21 [$10], white sandals from GoJane.com [$8]. 

They're not the most extravagant or full-of-effort outfits, but I'm not mad about them! Plus, for EVERYTHING I wore, it was a total of less than $150! Not bad for a week's worth of getting dressed, eh?

I should challenge myself to themed fashion weeks more often. It actually makes picking out clothes easier and helps me feel like less of a slob.

Apparently we need to be watching more women's water polo, friends. According to Terez Owens, things are getting pretty entertaining.

First there was a huge nip slip, now one lady got her titty twisted big time.

watch: the changes in women's gymnastics in the olympics since 1980

Watching the Olympics this year literally has me stunned. Even though I was a gymnast for 15 years, it seems like a completely different sport to me. Not only is the entire scoring system totally different [so I can't even pretend like I know what I'm talking about], but the skills are so incredibly advanced that even my former coach is shocked.

I don't think any of us need to see old videos as proof, but I decided to look back at some of the most notable gymnasts in the past 30 years, and show you just how much the sport has changed. I think it's easiest to tell when watching a beam routine, but since that's not normally the favorite event to watch, I have some examples from all of them.

VAULT
The horse changed in the early 2000s, but I don't think that had a whole lot to do with the skill level increase.

The bars used to be a lot closer together, so the types of skills have changed quite a bit... but notice all the release moves and different ways of gripping the bar Gabby does compared to Kim.

I'm really upset it's so hard to find good quality videos, but whatever... that's not the point.

It's crazy to watch the routines from the 80s again because I could have easily done any of those routines while I was in my prime. In the 90s, there was no way I'd be doing most of those skills, but I could if I really worked hard. The things they're doing now- oh hell no. They've been brainwashed into not being afraid of ANYTHING.

Kudos, gymnasts of today. You're truly incredible. And to the gymnasts of tomorrow and another decade from now- I'm terrified of and for you. I can't even imagine what they'll be coming up with.

watch: hitler is mad at canada hockey

I'm so mad at myself for not finding these videos funny when I first saw them. I now have a completely different outlook on life thanks to Hitler and these fantastic captions.

It doesn't matter what they're about or if they make any sense. Someone, somewhere, is making me laugh with a video of Hitler.

olympic gold medals love each other

Ooh lookie here! Two Olympic-related posts today!

Apparently there's something new playing cupid these days: The Olympic gold medal!

Nastia Liukin won it in the All-Around for gymnastics in 2008, and now she's dating Evan Lysacek! [He's the first one to win a gold for men's figure skating in 22 years!] Apparently it's been going on since last summer! Looks like the world missed the memo.

When I first saw him, the first thing that came to mind was "Woah. He looks just like a Ken doll. I hope he's dating Barbie!"

Well, I think he is. Look at the resemblance!

Ohh, the irony! It's only right that Olympic gold medal Barbie date Olympic gold medal Ken. Too bad they don't come in the same box... I'm more of a money-saver, all-in-one-deal kinda girl.

I hope it lasts! They're pretty.

I haven't done much celebrating the Olympics on here! No bueno. With only 6 days left, I guess I better step up my game.

In honor of Vancouver 2010, we shall take a look at some really embarrassing moments in the land of sports when cameras are around.

the london olympics are dirty

Oohh, the creators of the 2012 Olympics graphic are so dirty.


Okay wait... I guess that doesn't look so bad, does it?! Maybe it is the people that watch the Simpsons, and try to find a little dirty in everything that are the raunchy ones.

If you change up the colors a little bit, add a little razzle-dazzle here and there, you might see a little somethin' else in the logo.


Does your imagination get it? A lot of people are lovin' the fact that it's basically Lisa Simpson giving her brother Bart a blowie.

Hilarious. People find the most random things in shapes, and I love every second of it. Thank you, Mr. Dirty Mind.
