watch etv: tony oller of mkto tries out my stilts

I'm not sure why I've never decided to try to bring out my stilts during an interview before, but I'm thinking it might need to happen more often.

After their interview with Kendall at the HOT Summer Fiasco, I jokingly offered them to the guys of MKTO [one of them being Walt from "Lost," for those of you who are all "who the eff is MKTO], and Tony decided to try them out!

His manager was not happy with me, saying he'd sue me if Tony fell since I didn't have a release form... but I decided to just channel my super strength and make sure he never fell... or at least try to.

[side note: why does it play in really crappy quality unless I change it to HD?! There's gotta be a way to change that... is it like that for you too?!]

Anyway, everything was all good, but Malcolm decided to be a good boy and listen to Daddy Manager. Maybe I should think twice about whoever I offer it to... and make sure I actually have someone really strong to help me out in holding them up... cuz I obviously didn't have Tony...

watch: hot summer fiasco recap!

I know, it's been a week and I'm just now getting to share this... forgive a girl who wanted to celebrate her birthday and take care of 324987 other things?! Kthanks.

You've hopefully seen my Carly Rae Jepsen and Cher Lloyd interviews, and the sweet intro video I spent way too long making, but now it's time to see the end result of all the hard work we put into the show!

For me, I thought the performances were obviously fun, but I loved the whole experience people got when they came. We made ourselves very available and mingled with everyone all day, we gave out free t-shirts, hooked people up with meet and greets, and just had an overall great time! [Forgive the quality on some of the shots.]

Seriously, being able to hang with so many listeners is awesome. The face they make when they realize we're actually real people who WILL talk to them and WILL go out of our way to take pictures and make sure they're having a good time... it's priceless.

Considering it was our first major show like this as a station, I'd say it went pretty damn well. I mean, we did the HOT Mess Fest, but this was on a much bigger scale.... and hopefully it'll only get bigger in the future!

watch: my hot summer fiasco intro

You may have seen a bunch of pictures/teasers for this intro video I was working on for the HOT Summer Fiasco. I put quite a bit of time into it, just trying a bunch of different things and trying to make it epic.

If I'm being honest, the perfectionist in me is still thinking it's missing something, but I think everyone else really loves it, so fine... I'll share it!

I had some help from a coworker with some of the shooting, but I directed and edited all of it! Sometimes it's just fun to play around and try new things, like I got to do.

The plan was to have it play at the very beginning of the concert...

It was totally the most fun I've ever had shooting a video. I've always wanted to throw paint at people! And how awesome are some of those shots?! Thank goodness for waterproof covers!

And BTW, we actually made the paint out of flour and food coloring, so it was safe for the beach!

Hope it's as fun to watch for you as it is for us!

PS Fiasco recap video is still on the way, promise!

watch exclusive interview: eight questions with carly rae jepsen*

*I think it was actually only 7, but whatever. Shoot me.

The second interview I got to do at the HOT Summer Fiasco was none other than Miss Summer of 2012... Miss Call Me Maybe... Miss Carly Rae Jepsen! [I totally shoulda intro'd her in the video like that, huh?!]

Originally I was supposed to go to her hotel room and sit down with her there, but things got way too hectic, so I bombarded her dressing room instead. There wasn't anything fancy or elaborate in there like purple velvet curtains or 23 cases of Voss water, so I felt pretty comfortable beyond being totally flustered by the entire day's events.

Her accent is adorable, she's adorable, chill, and exactly how I expected her to be for the most part. Check out our quick little chat and please don't let the blur bother you. Sometimes it's hard for people to tell if it's out of focus while filming. :(

I wish I could talk to her more so that I'd pick up her accent. It's kinda subtle, but I really do enjoy her voice.

I also enjoyed this being posted on her instagram a little later [even though it says I'm Kendall... oh well!].

Her performance was also pretty adorable, but I'll have proof of that coming up when I do the whole recap video/post!

Another one of those moments where I feel so lucky to have the job I do is now in the books....

exclusive interview: cher lloyd

One of the cool things about the HOT Summer Fiasco [full re-cap video and post will be coming up as soon as it's done!] was being able to touch up on my interviewing skills with different personalities. Each celebrity is so different, as well as the situation.

Some celebs will let you walk right in with a camera, sit down and start asking questions. Others don't allow cameras... and some even pick out which questions you can and can not answer. Of course with those people, I try and make the best out of the couple [four this time] questions I have and expand as much as possible. It's not easy. It may even be one of the more difficult situations for me because I like to have a conversation... when anything in my life becomes scripted, I tend to freeze up a little bit.

I got to go into Cher's dressing room before her meet and greet and chat it up a bit. If I could describe her off-stage in one word, it'd be fragile. She was so small, gentle, and a little quiet- the complete opposite of what I expected! BUT, she was definitely nice and beautiful.

Her on stage persona was everything I imagined. She was feisty like her brats and her songs. She was running all over the place. She was loud.... Now I'm wondering if she's got two names for these personas like other celebs do!

Also, I need to add "moan" to my vocabulary and use it the way she does. It was like a replacement for complain or whine. Sure, I use moan every once in a while... but in a very literal tense, and normally in a sexual way. She moans to her dad. [You should have seen my face when she said that.]

watch etv and win tickets to our huge summer concert!

In case you've been hiding somewhere and haven't heard, my station is putting on our first summer show- the HOT Summer Fiasco! Featuring: Carly Rae Jepsen, Icona Pop, Cher Lloyd, MKTO, Nikki Williams, and Classified. [OMG OMG I GET TO MEET ALL OF THEM!]

It's going down June 8, and yesterday we went out to the venue to plan out some details and shoot some video for between the acts. FYI: It's the coolest venue I've ever been to. It's an intimate pavilion that doesn't have a bad seat [everything's close to the stage!], and it's right on the water.

Anyway, we wanted to share our excitement with the world, so we went around to different places in Hampton Roads and got all up in people's faces. [I also got yelled at in K-Mart, and almost got a ticket for being in the middle of the street, so....]

Also- probably the most unpleasant Chick-fil-A workers ever, right?! Heyzeus, girlfrand. Live a little!

I'm really excited for the show, but I'm like REALLY PUMPED to see other people doing this, too. Tickets aren't that expensive, but a free pair is obviously the bomb diggity. Who knows... it might even get ya a little something extra.
