what ya should wear wednesdays- inappropriate christmas sweaters

It's ugly Christmas sweater season! Hopefully these things are still being found in the thrift shops, but I've also seen mall kiosks for them and racks inside Walmart etc. ARE THEY GONNA BECOME UNCOOL?!

Nah, chill. They're always great... especially when a website is taking them to a new level. They're taking them from G to R-rated!

At first look, Grandma will be all "that's a nice sweater, hun!" But your friends will look closer... and realize just how "niiiiiice" it is.

Santa peeing on a roof... reindeer humping... BLACK SANTA IS REAL! and there are more.

Yeah... these are incredible. A bit out of my $3 price range, but possibly worth it.

BONUS... they have fanny packs... for anyone who feels like getting me something for Christmas.

presents in the mail: last month's subscription boxes

Each month that comes I always tell myself to post pictures of my Birchbox vs. ipsy, but always forget... now this week I got my first Influenster box [which is free!], and decided I had to share!

If you're looking to get a gift in the mail every month, allow me to help!

BIRCHBOX: A delicious Ghiradelli minty chocolate, sample of Viva La Juicy, small nail polish, mask samples, and my new favorite make-up: Chella highlighter pencil [that I also got in ipsy a couple months ago].

IPSY: Cute little bag as always, lip crayon, mascara, blush/bronzer, nail polish, and eyeliner pencil.. and a trial size of an exfoliator mask.

INFLUENSTER: Dry shampoo, glitter nail polish, snack bar, work-out headband, and mask.

Every month I say I'm going to cancel Birchbox, but I never do. The thing is... they rarely give full-sized things, and there are a lot of facial masks/shampoos involved. That's not the kinda stuff I'm going to use. That all goes straight into my "sample box," which I pick from when I'm going on a trip or a guest needs something.
ipsy typically gives you mostly full-sized things, and more make-up than anything. They normally go straight to my daily make-up box. Plus... I've stocked up on make-up bags that can be used as clutches or gifts for others! [Hey... I bought it, I can totally give it as a present!]

As for Influenster... I'm not totally sure how it works. This one is actually free, but I signed up for it and took some quizzes etc 6+ months ago and just got my first box. I'm not entirely sure how they pick who gets a box each month, but it's worth ten minutes of your procrastination to try!

My goal for this month is to find a different monthly box thing to subscribe to so I can get rid of Birchbox but still get multiple goodies in the mail! Anyone have recommendations?!

Also.. if you get any of these, let me know your faves/thoughts!

crafted: painted fabric canvases

It's  been a month and a half since I moved into my new place, and I haven't put up a single piece of decoration. Normally that's the first thing I do, but I really wanna make this place look nice and not like some college student's first apartment. I've been looking all over Pinterest and magazines and EVERYWHERE looking for ideas, and I still don't know where I'm gonna go with it, but I decided to make something for the awfully bare walls.

I went to AC Moore on Sunday when they had an extra 25% off everything in the store, and got a bunch of 16x20 canvases for $2.50 each! HELLO BARGAIN! I've always wanted to have some to play with, but there's one project I've been wanting to do.

Some people cover shoe box tops with fabric as decoration... I wanted to take that one step forward and paint a quote or something on them... then I decided to cover the canvases [kinda defeating the purpose of them, but I can always take the fabric off] and paint simple silhouettes on them.

I suck and didn't take pictures during the process, but that's because it's so easy.

NEED:
  • Canvas or shoe box
  • Hot glue/gun
  • Fabric to cover your canvas or top [$1/each if you get swatches]
  • Simple acrylic craft paint
  • Paint brushes
DO:
  1. Iron out the fabric if necessary and place it on top of the canvas.
  2. Glue down the sides, doing about two inches at a time and alternating sides. Make sure you pull it a little so it's nice and flat.
  3. If you need to, pencil an outline of what you want to paint on.
  4. Paint.. and then love!

After I hung them up, Nugget and I both decided I should have made bigger ones... but they'll do! And I'm hoping they'll look 100x better as soon as I get some new furniture in this piece.

Also, my walls are not nearly as pink as they appear there, but for some reason my pictures always have a different tint in each place I see them.

So they're not the most artistic things ever.. but they're personalized and fun! I might end up redoing them on different fabric, but these were the only options at the time, and they'll totally work for now, don't ya think?!

watch: real world ex-plosion trailer!

We already know it's going to be a very different season in terms of relationships and dynamics with all of the exes in the house.. but now it's time to get our first real look!

Can you imagine the awkwardness of having your ex live in a house where you're also living with your new lover, though?! Haaaa, this could be really good, y'all.

Also... Jenny made me LOL at the end. win.

what ya wearin wednesday and thanksgiving!

Last Wednesday was the biggest going out night of the year [seriously.. it's the night where the most alcohol is sold] and Thursday was obviously Thanksgiving, so let's see what people were wearin!

@__lindsayy dressed up her black maxi with heels and curls.

Christopher on Facebook went all fancy! I liiikkee!

@florasenmipelo bringin' back the overalls and actually looking cute!

@lindseyvolt with some go-to's/must haves-

@mariahazlynn with roughed up jeans and boots!

I'm loving both @alexonthemic's dress and her friend's more casual outfit with their leather jackets

Loving @mollskat's make-up this week with a hint of blue.

Somehow I lost track of whose nails these are, and can't find them again! So... if they're yours, speak up now or forever hold your peace cuz they're great!

@arii_relizzz with a classic and fun sweater and then even more fun: sparkly tights!

@ksnedegar kept it colorful and fun.. first with a neon cardigan and fantastic earrings, then light blues and purples.

@dominiquedadiva was also colorful with her yellow jumpsuit.

It's now OFFICIALLY Christmas season! How great are @ElectricHeartNails' nails?!

Looks like @iceiceandrew was out to impress someone with his suit jacket and.. well.. what's the "cool way" to say the matching handkerchief/pocket things? I'm blanking... but he probably succeeded in impressing.

@its_jo_shmoe matching the kicks to the sweatshirt!

@spyke_official getting fun with the mohawk

How pretty is @agapelovegirl's hair? Enjoying the dress/outfit, too!

@micaelalovex went all black and white

And @BlaineStewart joined in on the fun with his gold tie!

On Wednesday, it was super cold, but i wanted to go out... so I went with my go-to button down option. I got this one from LC Lauren Conrad for $11 clearance! Paired with my red jeans and boots from JustFab that ended up becoming extremely uncomfortable. Every time I get something from there, they're either crappy quality or uncomfortable.

And I was mostly thinking about Black Friday on Thanksgiving. I needed something comfortable, warm, but easy to try other things on without going into a dressing room. Another old shirt from LC, black jeggings, and F21 cardigan did the trick with my new fave boots that were inspired by Joan Watson.

Now we're only two days away from the next Wednesday! YAY!
