beyond the real world st thomas cameras: foreshadowing with swift

Well, as promised to LaToya last week, I had to get Swift on this week to apologize to LaToya for accusing her for all of the sea urchin [which I think is the real devil of this Real World season] drama.

We talked for over an hour [woah! It's super easy to talk to this cast, that's for sure..], which shows that he really wanted to A) make his point known and B) be an open book about it all. I cut the interview down to 20 minutes for you, and will give you insight into the rest here. [Don't worry, I'm not hiding any secrets from you! I left the juice in!]

Get ready, he's got a lot of ...mmm.... talking... about his roommates to do. And he says to pay attention because "it's foreshadowing in the episodes to come."
[ALSO: At the end, there's some info about the upcoming Real World season! Ohhh snap!]

I'm not going to lie, when he asked me about what I thought about him/LaToya, I hadn't let the entire interview digest yet. The fact that he kept bringing her up, over and over again [including times you don't hear in there], lets me know they have a seriously heated relationship. Who knows if that's more hate or love at this point, but he was not about to let his thoughts fall by the wayside.

Beyond the podcast and the roommate talk, Swift said we won't see much of him because he tried to stay away from "Prison Paradise" [the house] and became "The Mayor of St. Thomas." As I can imagine, he felt pretty trapped and bored and full of drama in Hassel Island, so he became part of the main island of St. Thomas. He said he met tons of locals, got to know them well, and even volunteered with several charities/community service opportunities.

One specific thing he told me about was going to the local high school and talking to football players. That's pretty awesome. Of course, the cameras didn't follow him to most of these things, just like when the DC roommates volunteered around the city, because it's not very entertaining. Still, it says a lot about his character.

It'll be interesting to see how much they do/don't show him in the next 8 episodes.. I'd assume he's still pretty involved in some drama considering his strong opinions on everyone he lived with.

PS: He asked me to have you check out his website, so do it! He also does a lot of live chats online with his "Swift Sweeties," so feel free to partake in those, duh!

let's do it: the real world st thomas premiere!

I've told you how it's going to go down, now it's time to make it happen! Wednesday night, 10pm EST, meet me right here to chat about the debut of 7 new strangers living on their own freaking island.

Since I was sent the first couple episodes to pre-screen, here are my initial thoughts on what we can really expect:

The roommates:

Marie and LaToya had me cracking up the entire first episode. They had HUGE personalities and so far, are very likable.
Marie is a bit of a bitch, but in the "Imma tell you how it is and we're gonna laugh about it" way. Basically, just how I like my friends. She had no idea what to expect when meeting her first roommate- "He might be black, white, orange, who knows." Then she met ginger Robb... "All orange."
LaToya had me cracking up when she was getting off the plane and referred to herself as Michelle Obama. I can't type it to make it funny, so just be on the lookout for that moment.
Laura is totally cute, but already the center of an intense love triangle.

So far, all the guys are also really likable. I was worried about Trey after the stuff I found while filming, but as of now, he's an effing hottie. And Swift- hello sir, can I have you?

The drama and the storylines:

They certainly didn't hesitate with jumping right into some serious cases of drama, as well as roommate relationships. There's also already a severe outcast. Just wait until you hear the music they play when the poor roomie is left alone.
If episode 1 is setting up the rest of the season, it's safe to say we're going to have everything a good Real World season needs: love/triangles, stupid fights, crazy girls, and more serious drama. I just hope they didn't jump into it all too soon, to be honest.

I can't wait to see what you think about all of them and what's to come! Don't forget to set a reminder to join me here [and tell your friends so you can win some swag]!

real world st thomas: meet brandon and laura

Wow! I stopped checking the internet world for Real World St. Thomas updates for a couple days, and we have LOTS to catch up on!

First of all, let's meet the final two roommates on the island.

What's up, Brandon Swift?!

  • 23
  • From Edison, NJ.. now living in Philadelphia after going to Temple University
  • Played football and wrestling in high school
Not much else about him besides a TON of Temple peeps tweeting about him [#SWIFT]. Seems like a fine guy to me, and apparently helped get the prank war going in the house [VIDEO].

And hello, Laura Waller!

  • Another 23 year old
  • From Omaha, Nebraska
  • Went to the University of Nebraska Omaha and Dana College; was a pole vaulter
  • Describes herself like this:
"i like to have FUN. i LOVE my family, i am adopted, i love the lord, my friends mean the world to me. im pretty chill and i hate drama. i love music. i think you should fall in love every chance you get, you never know when that chance might come around again.."
  • Listed as in a relationship on Facebook
  • This is her Twitter
Considering she dyed her hair bright red "like Ariel" right before the show, the only comparison I can make at first impression is Erika from DC. Nothing else really seems the same, though.

As for updates on the happenings on the island...

I tweeted this video of the cast trying to figure out the confessional. It's hard to really judge anyone's personality from it, but you can get a better look at them on camera, obviously.

BUT, there is some drama in the house already! Rumor has it Brandon Kane already went home after getting in a fight with Trey. Someone is saying he has a rough past with drugs and alcohol which also made the decision to leave early easier.

There's also video of the cast performing in an "adult parade." They don't do a great job at being entertaining, but I bet the rest of the parade was!

Beyond all of that, Trey's mom tweeted that he'd be back from filming on May 11, which is about two weeks early. Who knows what the cause of cutting the production short is, but it's normally because they have enough footage for an entire season and they wanna start cranking it out ASAP. [Given the fact they've already started teasing the season on MTV.com, I'd say that's the case.]

Who knows... maybe this season will actually be pretty crazy! I think it could go either way and I'm certainly interested to see how life on the island is.
