i'd rather vote than...

Tweet Y'all ready for some serious talk from EB?! Okay, let's not kid ourselves. Getting 100% serious is nearly impossible here.

But there's something I'm getting involved in and I think you should too! Jose, aka @imJmi, has started this campaign that we're all jumping on board with. It's #IdRatherVote, and you guessed it!


We're tweeting all the things we'd rather not have happen because we didn't vote. Just because we're not trying to get the first black president into the White House doesn't mean it's not important to make your voice heard.

So for the next week, let's all come together and convince those who still may be unsure that voting is absolutely worth your time. Even if you're thousands of miles away from the place you're registered to vote [like me]. They have snail mail for us. We've also been given voices for a reason.

I've always said I live by the quotes that say don't ever regret anything because that's something that will weigh heavy on you forever. The LAST thing I want to regret is not being able to do something I want to do or seeing my friends get their rights denied because some dbag thinks it's against the Bible or disgusting.

nifty: simpsons stamps

Happy Birthday to the Simpsons from the United States Postal Service!! As a gift, they'll give you postage stamps, featuring you! [By you, I mean the Simpsons, duh.]

There are 5 stamps in the works right now to hit circulation on May 7th! But the coolest thing is that YOU [this time I really mean YOU!] can vote on which are your favorite!


This is the first time a TV show has been featured on stamps while still in production! So it's a pretty big deal! The USPS thinks this will encourage "the youngsters" to collect stamps.

I just think it's great to have exciting stamps on my resumes! It'll be the only good thing about graduating in May of '09. [Thank you G.W. Bush for the awesome economy/work force we are about to enter into.]

go vote and get free stuff!

So, if you're lazy or "busy" or whatever and are debating going to vote, how about I give you a couple reasons.

Everyone likes free stuff, right?! Here's what you can get just for voting today:

• Krispy Kreme is giving out red, white, and blue star shaped doughnuts!! All you have to do is wear your "I Voted" sticker!
• Starbucks is giving out free cups of coffee! Just tell them you voted and it's yours!
• Ben & Jerry's is giving out free ice cream between 5 and 8pm tonight for all you voters!
• MTV's Rock the Vote is giving away free MP3 downloads.. as long as you promise to vote!

If/when I find out more, I will post them. :)

So, it's November 3rd.. Which is just absolutely weird. Come Thursday, what will I write about?! ;)

What is even more weird-- People not making up their minds about who they're going to vote for.

a different kind of PSA

Sick of the boring and unoriginal PSAs from celebrities? Good thing we have Ron Howard around to change things up... No pun intended.

I think the idea of covering her face is kinda clever, but why do it if everyone is going to know right away anyway? Plus, I think she's trying to make the point that it shouldn't matter if she's a celebrity or not.. yet, that's clearly a point she's trying to get everyone to focus on.

DJ AM made a public appearance, ON the mic, Tuesday night.

He just wants to thank everyone for the support, and asks to say a prayer for Travis Barker.



He's such a humble guy! But I guess when something as awful as what he went through happens, you don't take anything for granted.

• Nicky Hilton, friend of DJ AM--> "It sounds cliché, but it really makes you appreciate your life and what you have, and the people in your life."
• Hayden Panettiere, on her latest PSA--> "I love using the F-word," she boasted. "It's great. I'm from New York. I use the F-word all the time."
• Tyrese made a shout out to Obama as well as Jay-Z who said "we're voting for Obama, right?" after holding up a picture of Pres Bush.

where are our rights?

I know most of my readers are from VA, and I'm ASSUMING most of you are going to vote ;) so here's something you need to know.

They (the commonwealth of VA) put a ban on ANY campaign clothing, buttons, hats, paraphernalia, anything.

..........

No really though, they did.

They said it has too much influence and puts tension on other voters.

1-- Isn't running for president ONLY about the campaign? Seriously, I'm not saying it's right, but when you watch commercials it's not about the politics, it's about who you see the most, and who they can shut down the worst. What is an average citizen wearing a button going to do to a voter? AND!! If you're going to vote, I'd hope that you'd know who you're voting for BEFORE you get there. If you're unsure, I'd say don't do it.

2-- "Right to free speech." "Right to petition." The Bill of Rights. Where is this?! Doesn't this ban completely violate these? Apparently they say it has to weigh that against the right to vote free of undue influence or the tension that candidate advocacy might create.

Oh and if you're NOT from VA, worry if you are from PA. They're considering it too.

Ugh. I'm glad I'm sending an absentee ballot in. Not that I have a campaign shirt, but I would love to get one.

Hmm, I guess I better holler at ebaY PRONTO.

Barack Obama is officially the first of something else.. the first Presidential nominee to be endorsed by a leading lifestyle publication.

He sent a letter to Vibe Magazine asking for help.

The issue comes on October 21, for the month of November.. just in time for us young folk to see it and hopefully increase our voter turnout.

Everyone knows he has supporters. We're.. I mean, they're everywhere. We just have to make sure that we show up on the 4th to get him that win.

And, as you can see, the issue is going to have all kinds of other celebs dishing their thoughts on him.. errr.. the election as a whole I mean.
