watch: remembering 2002

We've already lived through 1999 again, but now it's time to fast forward 3 years to 2002, when everything was beginning to change forever:
  • Technology is now real: Small Nokia phones and iPods are introduced
  • Reality TV starts to take over
  • Boy bands have faded out
  • A white rapper has the highest selling album of the year
  • Movies are all about sequels, trilogies, and beyond

Just the thumbnail itself aggravates me. I'm team Barbie. Bratz are stupid. 2002 is when the world officially went downhill and started getting rid of the 90s.

Some more facts:

  • Nickelback’s "How You Remind Me" is No.1 on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 singles.
  • Justin Timberlake, 30 Seconds to Mars, Norah Jones, N.E.R.D., Cee-Lo Green and Avril Lavigne, release their debut albums.
  • The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is the highest grossing film of the year.
  • Other big films released that year include: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Spider-Man, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Ice Age and My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
  • The Osbournes, The Shield, Made, The Nick Cannon Show, Degrassi: The Next Generation, Crank Yankers, 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter and Kim Possible, were among the television shows that premiered.
  • Jackass, Daria, The X-Files, Roswell, The Amanda Show, The Rosie O'Donnell Show and Ally McBeal, all ended their series run.
  • TLC’s Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes dies in a car accident in Honduras.
  • Fergie joins The Black Eyed Peas during the recording of their album Elephunk.
  • The first Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is held in Tennessee. Performers include that year include, Jack Johnson, Widespread Panic, Gov't Mule and Norah Jones.
RIP, 1990s.

watch: ed sheeran covers/mashes up no diggity and thrift shop

I have clearly underestimated the power of Ed Sheeran. People told me he was awesome and I should educated myself more, but I was stubborn busy.

He teamed up with a dude named Passenger to do a cover of "No Diggity," and they mashed it up with "Thrift Shop" at the end. Hott damn get ready for some talent.

Those voices are just my favorite. So chill, so enjoyable. I want more!

Fine, I'll give in. Time to go watch some Ed Sheeran videos.

watch: a capella mash-up of justin timberlake and blackstreet

You already know how much I love a capella songs and the 90s and Justin Timberlake [when he's not being stubborn], so it's obbbbvious I'm going to love this video! Blackstreet's "No Diggity" meets JT's "Cry Me A River."

How good is that version?! Like, I want them to record a super clean version so I can have it on repeat always, even though I will anyway!

It's like... "DUHHHMAZING!"

watch: dj earworm's united state of pop 2012- shine brighter

Okay, I lied. There's one other year-end wrap up we all care about, and that's DJ Earworm's United State of Pop video!

People have been sharing the wrong video all week, but this is finally the right one! As always, it's fantastic [but could use less/zero Taylor Swift]...

Tons of people have been jackin' his style and doing this video mash-ups, but they don't even come close to comparing! The coolest part about Earworm's videos is that the lyrics mash-up to make a song that actually makes some sense. Everyone else just matches beats.

Also, the best part about his this year: It's not all OPPA GANGNAM STYLE, like every other mix you've heard in the past couple months.

Thank you, DJ Earworm, for proving you're the best again. TEAM EARWORM!

watch: sam tsui does a britney spears medley

As if I didn't think Sam Tsui was the greatest thing already, he had to go ahead and do THIS.

This mix is amazing even if it was a DJ doing it, and for him to sing and play it all- INCREDIBLE. I like it best when he breaks it down and sings, but that's cuz I'm obsessed with his voice.

"I'm addicted to you, could you hit me baby one more time?!"

Why yes. I will waste spend 5 more minutes of my life listening to it... again, and again.

watch/listen: top 25 hits of 2011 get mashed up

Woah. Is someone stealing DJ Earworm's shine?! It may technically be for Germany's top 25 pop hits, but Panos T done swept in and stole DJ Earworm's idea before he released his for this year [assuming he still is].

Check out the Top of Pop video/mash-up below. You'll know 98% of the songs, and it IS good, but I feel for Earworm! How dare someone do it when he's done it for years!

What do you think? Still excited for Earworm's mash-up, or will this do? Did they get all the songs right?

This is one of those moments where I'd throw my arms up and say "Fine. You beat me to it. Eff you. I'll find something else." Hmph.

listen/watch: sam tsui's summer song medley

As usual, I'm obsessed with Sam Tsui's latest upload. He combined the biggest songs of the Summer [a couple weeks/months late, but I'm not mad at him] in one song that you will totally love.

Ugh, it's so good! And now that he's doing this stuff, it's like I don't know if I like his or DJ Earworm's mash-ups better! Good thing they're sorta different enough to enjoy both unconditionally!

If you wanna download it for free, holler at it here.

PS: If you were wondering, the songs included are:
  • Edge of Glory
  • Give Me Everything
  • Last Friday Night
  • Super Bass
  • Party Rock Anthem

listen: britney/nsync mash-up

If you're like me, you've been praying for Britney/JT to just get back together. Or at the very least, NSYNC get back together, and go on tour with Britney. IS IT REALLY TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR?!

Unfortunately, I think this is about as close as we're going to get, but it's still epic.

DJ Magic Baron put together this It's Gonna Be Me/Hold It Against Me mash-up and I've already listened to it a good 10 times.

Day= made. Dreams= still need to come true.
