super bowl worthy?

This is kinda old news.. But I never shared it, and I'm thinking it's one of those that not a WHOLE lot of people know.. but maybe I'm wrong.

Super Bowl XLIII Halftime Show= Bruce Springsteen.

I know he's a classic musical artist. He performs some of the greatest songs in US history. But there lies my problem.

Ever since Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction, the halftime shows have been "safety nets." They've been people of the past. Check it out-->
  • 2008- Tom Petty
  • 2007- Prince
  • 2006- Rolling Stones
  • 2005- Paul McCartney
  • 2004- Janet/JT/Jessica Simpson
  • 2003- Shania/No Doubt/Sting
  • 2002- U2 (Tribute to 9/11 victims)
  • 2001- My personal favorite of all time and shown below; Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller/Aerosmith, Britney Spears, NSYNC, Mary J. Blige, Nelly

(This is just AMAZING! Seriously, it combines all different kinds of music, INCLUDING songs of the past! EVERYONE is happy!)

And OK, it's great to see these people of the past again.. but at the same time, not everyone can relate. It's not new, exciting, fresh.. and it doesn't represent the year accurately at all. Before Janet/JT's performance, you could look back at the shows and be like "you're right, that was the ISH that year!" Now it's.. "That was the ISH.. twenty years ago."

Call me crazy if you want, but whoever is planning these things lately needs to step their game up. At least get multiple artists.
Bruce, I have no doubt that it will be a good show... I just hope it even halfway lives up to the shows of years past.

love,
elizabethany

Hoooooly crap, that was 7 years ago, that's crazy! It really does depict that year perfectly though. And JT has changed SO much!
