snow day outfit, all up in the janus

Sometimes the over-hype of things that happen on the east coast is hilarious to me. I like making fun of people who go nuts... but I hate it when they get me all excited like it's going to be some huge snow storm that I can sled in [even though there are no hills], throw snowballs [at myself, mostly], and have a big snow day party with! Then.. BAM... six inches max... wet roads... and just a cold, un-enjoyable snow.

Okay, I'm done bitching... for now.

Underneath a ridiculous amount of layers for my walk/metro ride to work, I wore this outfit!

[Yeah... I couldn't decide which boots I liked better, so I took a picture with both.]

-the boots on the left are from Penneys for $20.. the right side is from Target for $17

-hat from Wet Seal for $1

So.. a very simple outfit, but I think the sweater is eye-catching enough to carry it all! I was mostly obsessed with the hat, though. I really want to wear more hats.  

Also... it's obviously not the most flattering sweater. I could be a solid 40 pounds heavier under there and you'd never know... but that's also the beauty of oversized sweaters, I think. 

I can't wait to show you what else I got from the clearance sales the other day! If this salt would go away, it'd be great for saving my new shoes from looking gross on day 1.

outfit: i went 90s neon for the package tour

To be honest, I don't totally know what decade/era this outfit would fit into. Early 90s with the neon? Mid-late 90s with the crop top? Meh, whatever. All of those years were represented in *package* form at the Package Tour.

I had bought a neon skirt for the HOT Summer Fiasco, but never got to wear it, so I held on to it and tried to find a crop top to go with it. Normally I'm all anti crop tops because sometimes you just don't need to be that slutty, trashy, whatever you wanna call it. Now that I've tried the high-waisted skirt/crop top combo, I could become obsessed.

That little bit of skin showing is so sexy to me! Plus: It's the most flattering part of anyone's torso, right?! I'll never show off that little tire around my belly button, but this skirt conceals it!
And even though the skirt is a little see-through, it's so light and flowy and fun and... well, I'm truly obsessed. I don't even care if you think this looks cute or not. 

Also, you should know that once I actually headed out, I totally added my Sorry I Party fanny pack. 

Now I just need to find more opportunities to wear this/something like it. Damnit. I shouldn't have posted a picture.... now everyone's going to know I wear it all the time!

pinspired: diy aztec sunglasses

I plan on switching up my Pinspiration posts more than just crafts, FYI, but nothin' wrong with two in a row, right?!

Today I present to you... my decorated sunglasses that only cost me $4!

I've seen a LOT of different ways to personalize your sunglasses, and I plan on trying a lot of them, but I was really obsessed with these 'Merican ones, done with Sharpie!

I know they sell really cheap sunglasses at Five Below, so I shot over there and found a lot of sunnies I loved, but none that were plain white to make into a flag. 

When I saw the neon ones, I had to get them, and decided to make a WVU/Aztec print on the side. I looked up some patterns on Google for inspiration, pulled out some of my favorite Sharpie colors, and got to drawing!

There was no real plan or repetition in my pattern... I just kept doodling. Each side is different.

Sure, they're not perfect, but I actually like them that way.... and they look really great from just a couple feet away.

I've totally been showing these off since I made them. They're one of a kind... and less than $5 [each pair is only $4 at Five Below!]. And I'll absolutely be making more with this same technique... hopefully in support of our awesome country.

PS: The original pin said to use Sharpie's poster paint pens... but I've never seen those, and I assume their tips are a lot thicker/not good for this design. Plus, it woulda cost extra money and that's dumb.
