a dog that can count

The other day I caught some of the best dog competition or whatever it was [Yeah, I don't know the real name at all] on ESPN, and I'm thinking, "Wow, that takes a lot of time to train a dog to do some of that!" All they were doing were simple jumps and swims, though.

Then, I heard about Maggie the Jack Russel Terrier. She does MATH! No joke. She does simple, elementary school math like addition, multiplication etc. And no, her owner doesn't help her at all. All they do is say the question, and she taps out the answer with her paw.

If you don't believe me, which by now you should always believe me, check out this video.. The math starts around 1:20.

That is amazing. Somehow she counts it out in her head, because she starts going as soon as they say the first number really. So she's a genius dog, if there is such a thing.

I wonder if one day I, or even one of my friends, can have a pet like this. That'd be sweet.

love,
elizabethany
