Oh man! Oprah might be leaving her show on CBS in 2ish years!!

Did we ever see this day coming?!

Well, it's not official YET. And she isn't exactly quitting the talk-show bizz.. But she probably won't be doing her nationally syndicated talk-show we have known for years.

She is launching her OWN network, no pun intended, next year. It's called the Oprah Winfrey Network. [Get it now?!] They're saying after the 2010-2011 season of the Oprah show, it could be moved to that station, or she will just take part in different aspects of making the channel work.

"We're talking now about what that presence would be and what programming she would be involved in directly. But this is her Chapter Two, and building the OWN brand online and on-air is something that she and I, we're working [on] together and it's a core mission for her."
--Discovery Channel's President and CEO, whom she is working with to build OWN.

But like I said, it's not final. She's done this many times.. The whole pretending to plan to quit the show, but not being able to.

And, isn't this network something we should have expected? I mean, after the show came the magazine and a whole Oprah brand, really. And did you realize she's always the cover of her magazine?! Hmm.. She still seems to think the network won't be all about her, though.

"This is an evolution of what I've been able to do every day. I will now have the opportunity to do that 24 hours a day on a platform that goes on forever. This network isn't just about me. It's using the voice and the brand and the vision, but it really is about creating possibilities for any number of people ... to extend the vision in a way that obviously I cannot 24 hours a day."
--Oprah, on OWN.

I'm interested to see what's going to happen. Either way, she'll still be everywhere, so there's no need for you fans to worry. :)

love,
elizabethany
