Something even more sad, and terrible: A 19 year old committing suicide, live on the internet, for everyone to watch, comment, and joke about.
This happened last Wednesday, as a guy posted on a bodybuilding website that he would kill himself later that night.
Apparently no one took it seriously, because as he overdosed on pills and fell asleep, no one came to help him. Some people made calls, but no one got to him until 12 hours after the posting.. It was too late.
While he slept, many users watching joked about it, laughing at the situation, thinking it was a joke.. But it wasn't.
This isn't the first time this has happened, but his dad is hoping this incident will make it so there are SOME internet regulations.
"I think they are all equally wrong. It's a person's life that we're talking about. And as a human being, you don't watch someone in trouble and sit back and just watch. I think after this incident and probably other incidents that have occurred in the past, they all point to some kind of regulation is necessary. I think it is wrong to have this happen for hours without any action being taken from the people in charge. Where were they all the time?"I can't imagine even KNOWING someone who watched this. And imagine if you thought it was a joke, and found out it wasn't?!
