on the racks: justin timberlake talks britney and jessica in vanity fair

I haven't been able to decide how I feel about Justin Timberlake these days. He's hilarious on SNL, was great in "The Social Network," but I don't think I like him as a person.

Him being in Vanity Fair this month didn't help me decide, but he did have some interesting things to say about his exes.

On Jessica Biel-
“She is the single-handedly most significant person in my life. In my 30 years, she is the most special person, O.K.? … I don’t want to say much more, because I have to protect things that are dear to me—for instance, her.”

On Britney Spears-
“I wish her the best—that goes without saying. We haven’t spoken in 9 or 10 years. We were two birds of the same feather—small-town kids, doing the same thing. But then you become adults, and the way you were as kids doesn’t make any sense. I won’t speak on her, but at least for me, I was a totally different person. I just don’t think we were normal; there was nothing normal about our existence. We spent way too much time being the biggest thing for teenyboppers.”

On being awesome at a young age-
“It was exciting that we were having so much success and we could do whatever we wanted. And I mean that about everybody: Backstreet Boys, ’NSync, Britney, Christina. At that time, we could literally go, ‘Oh, man, let’s go to Bali,’ and we’d be on a plane to Bali. We were little kids with big toys. You do the math—that’s not going to last. Ryan [Gosling] and I used to steal golf carts and go driving in the middle of the park to get milk shakes, and we never got in trouble for it. We thought we were big shit.”

He doesn't exactly come off as a huge a-hole or d-bag, but he's not the coolest person either, am I right?

I miss the old JT... but at least he recognizes he has changed. And I think it's obvious in every aspect that J-Biel is to blame.

on the racks: justin bieber does vanity fair

It's something that I'm not afraid to admit: I have Bieber Fever. He's adorbs! How could you not?!

BUT... He's starting to grow up, and it's actually making me feel more awkward than anything. Now he's on the cover of Vanity Fair and while the article is pretty freakin' great, the pictures are a little odd to me.

Before we get to the awkwardness, I'll give you a prep with how he describes himself:

“I’m crazy, I’m nuts... Just the way my brain works. I’m not normal. I think differently—my mind is always racing. I’m just... nuts. But I think the best [musicians] probably are.”

And without further ado, I present his VF photoshoot... Complete with a turtleneck.

REALLY?! A TURTLENECK?! That's against all male-fashion laws. I hardly doubt Usher approved such a look.

Anyway, if you can look beyond the pedophile feelings, this article is genuinely one of the best I've read about an artist in a while. Whether or not Usher trained him to say all this stuff, I'm not sure... but he obviously interviews well.

"I’m definitely influenced by Michael Jackson and Boyz II Men and people who were black artists—that’s what I like. But I like their voices and I like how they entertain—it’s not about what color they are.”

Eventually he expects to drop the "teen girl" fan base... We shall see about all that.
“For younger guys, it’s like [they think] they’re not cool if they come to my concert. That’ll [change], I think, maybe when I’m 18.”

It's good that he seems to know what he's getting himself into... I just hope he can hold on-
"It’s hard to really balance myself. A regular kid, if he catches the flu, he just gets to go home, but I can’t do that... Everything is important. But, you know, my sanity is important, too... I know I have to give up a lot of myself, or a lot of a private life.
"I know I’m not going to make a life-changing bad decision, as some people have. I’ve seen it happen too many times. I could be my own worst enemy, but I don’t want to mess this up."

He's a class act, guys. I truly hope he can make it past his voice change and keep a strong career for a while.

on the racks: tiger woods does vanity fair

I vowed to myself that I wouldn't write, mention, whatever the name Tiger Woods on her anymore. Then, I saw this.

The cover of Vanity Fair= Tiger Woods. Shirtless.

Now, before I say anything, I'm not posting this because he's shirtless and OMG SO HOTT! False. He's borderline fugly in this picture. His body looks like some kind of monster that is about to have a mind of its own. [Hmmm... that may be true.]

Anyway, this picture is from 2006, before anyone knew of the real Tiger. [Or the beast being let out of a cage, to make a reference to Real World DC ;)]

The article takes a look at how he's basically been a robot for years now and that's why we all thought he was perfect. He knew exactly what to say. Shouldn't we know by now the less you really know about someone, the more scandals they're hiding?!

If you are/were a Tiger fan, it's a great article. My personal favorite part is the very beginning:
When Tiger Woods finally fell from his pedestal—the car crash, the angry wife, the tales of kinky extramarital sex, the link to a controversial sports doctor—it was one of the greatest recorded drops in popularity of any nonpolitical figure.
Well that's just another record for him to break, right?! Another achievement. The b-tard wins everything.

I'd like to say hello to Tiger, and nice to finally meet you. The real you, of course. I'm sure it feels good to not hold things back nowadays.
