Everyone always speculates what the songs of a given summer will be, but DJ Earworm is here to define them... with his official Summer 2013 mix!
It's not my most favorite mix from him, but maybe because there's a couple songs I was trying to figure out throughout it. Either way, what he does with these is still freaking impressive to me. There's a lot of thought in there, and I appreciate it!

Okay, I lied. There's one other year-end wrap up we all care about, and that's DJ Earworm's United State of Pop video!
People have been sharing the wrong video all week, but this is finally the right one! As always, it's fantastic [but could use less/zero Taylor Swift]...
Tons of people have been jackin' his style and doing this video mash-ups, but they don't even come close to comparing! The coolest part about Earworm's videos is that the lyrics mash-up to make a song that actually makes some sense. Everyone else just matches beats.
Also, the best part about his this year: It's not all OPPA GANGNAM STYLE, like every other mix you've heard in the past couple months.

Woah. Is someone stealing DJ Earworm's shine?! It may technically be for Germany's top 25 pop hits, but Panos T done swept in and stole DJ Earworm's idea before he released his for this year [assuming he still is].
Check out the Top of Pop video/mash-up below. You'll know 98% of the songs, and it IS good, but I feel for Earworm! How dare someone do it when he's done it for years!

This is one of those moments where I'd throw my arms up and say "Fine. You beat me to it. Eff you. I'll find something else." Hmph.
As usual, I'm obsessed with Sam Tsui's latest upload. He combined the biggest songs of the Summer [a couple weeks/months late, but I'm not mad at him] in one song that you will totally love.
Ugh, it's so good! And now that he's doing this stuff, it's like I don't know if I like his or DJ Earworm's mash-ups better! Good thing they're sorta different enough to enjoy both unconditionally!
I got all sorts of excited and flustered while reading everyone's tweets about "DJ EARWORM'S EPIC SUMMER MIX IS OUT!!!!" It's too early in the summer for him to be doing all that, plus, I couldn't let everyone else hear it before me!
BUT! Though this is a summertime mix, it's not THE one. And it's good, but it's not EPIC.
He did it for the UK's biggest station, Capital FM, and their annual Summertime Ball.
Interesting that she's just NOW going solo, but she looks good, and the song isn't bad! I can't decide how it'll do as a single... I like it, but I feel like it'll stay pretty UK based. We shall see.

I love when B slows things down. This song is beautiful and great.
Coldplay--> Every Teardrop is a Waterfall
Well hello, Coldplay. Everyone's getting a real hard on for this song. I feel like it does too much building up without a real climax, but it's your call.

What kinda name is "J786"?! It's not a bad song, but I'm really mad about his/their/whatever name.
Joe Jonas--> See No More
If Hanson couldn't make any solo success, the Jonas Brothers shouldn't be able to either, dangit! I like this cheesy, boy band sounding song though... Hmph.
Kat Deluna--> Drop it Low
Homegirl is tryin' real hard to get a single on the radio right now, I gotta give it to her. I will totally love dancing to this in the club, but that's about it.
Laze and Royal--> You and Me
I am not even mad about this sample! Like... I like it.
DJ Earworm--> Only Time is Tonight
I have become entirely TOO obsessed with DJ Earworm lately. It's probably not healthy. His mixes are my favorite thing to listen to the morning after drinking. Love them. Love this.

Jerrod Niemann--> One More Drinkin Song
C'mon, Jerrod... drinkin songs are supposed to be a little more upbeat, aren't they?! It's nice to listen to, but I definitely don't love it. It's not a drinking song in my book.
Kellie Pickler--> Tough
She's got a lot more of a mature, pure country woman sound now. I like it. She sounds great!
Katie Arminger--> I Do But Do I
I like her voice a lot. This song is catchy. There's nothing to dislike.
LeeAnn Rimes--> Give
Super slow and meaningful, but beautiful. It makes me wanna be awesome.
Trace Adkins--> Just Fishin
What a precious little father/daughter song! I love it! Too cute.

I heard this for the first time on New Year's Day and immediately texted Toby Knapp to tell him how obsessed I was with it. I had no idea it was A) a real song and B) something that's been done multiple times as a year-end music wrap-up.
The dude's name is DJ Earworm and his occupation: Genius.
Okay, maybe that's not true. He's probably just a really great DJ. Either way, he's my genius of the week, fo sho.
Take a listen to this mash-up/remix/whatever of songs and fall in love just like I did. Be amazed like I was. Listen over and over and over again like I am.
All of my year-end top 10 lists just got trumped. This is hands down the best thing to represent the year. [If you like pop music, of course.]
