subscription box review: RocksBox!

As I said when I tried the Bulu Box, I've been looking for new subscription services. RocksBox approached me and I immediately wanted to try it. 

Each month for $19, they send you three pieces of jewelry for you to wear as much as you want. When you're done with them, you can send them back, or you can purchase them forever. Then they send you new pieces!

My pieces were $30-40 each, which is more than I'd normally spend, but I should probably start investing in some good pieces. I actually picked two of these and put them on my "wish list," so a lot of times you're picking what you want, but you get a surprise too!

First piece: Slate Beyond the Horizon Necklace, $44

I've been changing my style quite a bit over the past couple months into something a bit more edgy, and this totally fit that. I wore it on my birthday night with this black crop top from Forever21, asymmetrical skirt from ASOS, and booties from Target. [I think the necklace is more than the combined outfit, but whatever!]

I also wore the second piece: Sophie Harper Pave X Ring, $38

The way it looks and fits is perfect. I was in love. It has tiny diamonds, and I was ready to drop the dough for this piece.... until I woke up the next morning with a green X on my finger from where the ring was. Not a good look, especially for that price. 

Finally, my favorite and most expensive piece: Kendra Scott Rayne Necklace. 

[lol I should be better about white balancing my photos before uploading. I ain't got time for that right now.]

How gorgeous is it?!? Plus it's really great for stacking if that's your thing. I'm really trying to convince myself to just wear it a bunch of times and then send it back, but this might become a permanent staple in my jewelry mirror.

review: bulu monthly subscription box

When I got a notification for a monthly subscription box on Living Social, I obviously had to jump on it. I've been looking for some new ones to add to my usual Ipsy and Birchbox, but most of them are more than I want to spend. 

Bulu Box is supposed to be all about living healthy. There are two options: the regular and the working out. I chose the working out, and this is what I got on month #1. 

The packaging is pretty boring, but I guess that's not what counts. Here are the goodies: 

-card describing everything

-a quick summer workout routine

-container of "Rescue Patilles" that are supposed to destress you. $7 value

-two trials of "burnblend" which is supposed to up my metabolism $2.50 value

-"movit" gummies that are supposed to energize. $1 value

-upset stomach powder $.75 value

-"KoPax" energy booster $1.25 value

TOTAL VALUE: $12.50

It's a $10/box subscription, so technically I got my money's worth, but I really don't know if any of these things are going to do as they claim. So far I've tried the pastilles and gummies and..... I didn't notice much.

When I'm doing these boxes I hope for more than just trials of things that a lot of times you can order directly from the companies. One full-sized item isn't cutting it for this one, but here's to hoping for the best next month!

new vox box: all for weddings!

I took a quiz on Influenster at the beginning of the summer to see if I'd be a good fit for a box, and they knew exactly which one to send me! I'm so obsessed with everything they sent in the "Vow VoxBox."

This wedding season is my craziest yet, as I've mentioned, and I'm traveling to see four couples tie the knot. They sent me the essentials!

• Pure Silk shaving cream: I've never been one to use shaving cream. I typically use an Intuition razor, so I don't need it, but those are becoming more and more expensive, so I have switched... but still never thought about getting shaving cream. This stuff is the bomb. I tried it on only one leg at first, and definitely got more moisture on the leg and a closer shave. Bonus: it smells fantastic. 
• ecotools Pure complexion facial sponge: I've been trying to get my acne under control lately, so I was pumped to try this. I don't think it helped my face any, but I used it on my body for exfoliation and it was great for that. Also made my shave even smoother on my legs because of the exfoliation first. 
• Olay degenerist luminous perfecting cream: I'm still using Clean & Clear moisturizer because I'm a teenager at heart [which is probably having something to do with the acne...] but this stuff makes me feel like a whole new woman. It doesn't agree with my psoriasis patches and pretty much rolls right off of those areas, and it also doesn't love being combined with my BB cream, but it's great for days I go bare faced. 
• Tide to go stain remover: Does this need an explanation? I'm a messy girl who doesn't like washing her cheap clothes. Of course this is a godsend. 
• Sally Hansen Salon nail polish: Something blue! While the shade is very different than anything I have ever worn, it's definitely pretty, and this brand is great. Definitely an exciting item to get. 

They're all full size, and they're all free as long as I talk about them.... so I'm even more happy with Influenster right now. I don't always go out and buy the free things I receive once I run out, but I'll be stocking up on 60% of this stuff for a long time.

influenster box review: all about mary kay!

I got another Influenster box and this has to be the best one yet!

All products are from Mary Kay, and it told me I was pretty when I opened it! SCORE.


There are already a few things that have made it into my daily routine: The bronzer, mascara, and gold eyeshadow. The bronzer is the perfect color, the mascara is great for daily wear, and who doesn't love a light gold eyeshadow?!

I'm also pretty pumped about the liquid lipstick. It's red with some sparkles and so far stays pretty well for at least a couple hours. The cream eyeliner is also clutch, but because I'm so hooked on my liquid liner, I probably won't use it daily.

The brushes are also top notch. I don't know where my brushes are from, but they're about to find the trash can. The blush brush they sent is soft and thick and everything it should be. I've never had a crease shadow brush like the one they sent, but it seems to be a bit of a life saver right now.

inside the recent influenster voxbox

Last time I mentioned Influenster and their VoxBoxes, I really had no idea what was going on.. 

After receiving the last one, I feel like an old fashioned pro! Well... not at all... but I have more to share. 

I definitely recommend at least giving Influenster a try when you have some time to kill. Take some surveys/prove your knowledge, and then just wait and see if you'll get a big box of freebies one month! 

Unlike other things that send you freebies [Klout], you are required to review the box if you want to stay eligible for more in the future. Obviously I think it's worth it since I'm doing that now! 

This was March's J'Adore Box.

• KISS Looks So Natural Lashes [$4]- I haven't been able to actually wear these because I always need someone to help me put them on, but they feel soft and easy, and not too much
• Frizz-Ease 3-Day Straight flat iron spray [$10 for full size]- I've tried so many pre-straightener sprays that I feel like get sticky or make my hair stringy/in need of a wash within a day, but luckily I forgot I had used this! My hair stayed smooth as promised.
• Red Rose Simply Indulgent Teas [$5 for 20]- Unfortunately this is another thing I couldn't personally try because I can't drink anything hot, but the man fully enjoyed all of them and the sweet flavors. 
• Big ol' bag of Hershey's Kisses [$5]- Well... we already know how delicious these are.
• Botanics Shine Away Iconic Clay Mask [$9]- Masks have become my new nighttime pleasure when I need to relax. I don't have a shine problem, so I can't say whether it cured that, but it absolutely made my skin a lot smoother and I could feel the cleansing happen which makes me happy. I enjoy it so much that I even took a masked-selfie, which should never be shared.

My "badges" that earn me boxes are Fashionista, Pop Culture, and Fan-Addict. You take quizzes of sorts to prove your knowledge and that determines which boxes you're sent.

It's been two months since I got my last box before this one, so I'm hoping there are more soon.. especially with more products I can really use on a daily basis! Either way.. a box program that costs $0 is pretty sweet.

presents in the mail: last month's subscription boxes

Each month that comes I always tell myself to post pictures of my Birchbox vs. ipsy, but always forget... now this week I got my first Influenster box [which is free!], and decided I had to share!

If you're looking to get a gift in the mail every month, allow me to help!

BIRCHBOX: A delicious Ghiradelli minty chocolate, sample of Viva La Juicy, small nail polish, mask samples, and my new favorite make-up: Chella highlighter pencil [that I also got in ipsy a couple months ago].

IPSY: Cute little bag as always, lip crayon, mascara, blush/bronzer, nail polish, and eyeliner pencil.. and a trial size of an exfoliator mask.

INFLUENSTER: Dry shampoo, glitter nail polish, snack bar, work-out headband, and mask. 

Every month I say I'm going to cancel Birchbox, but I never do. The thing is... they rarely give full-sized things, and there are a lot of facial masks/shampoos involved. That's not the kinda stuff I'm going to use. That all goes straight into my "sample box," which I pick from when I'm going on a trip or a guest needs something.

ipsy typically gives you mostly full-sized things, and more make-up than anything. They normally go straight to my daily make-up box. Plus... I've stocked up on make-up bags that can be used as clutches or gifts for others! [Hey... I bought it, I can totally give it as a present!]

As for Influenster... I'm not totally sure how it works. This one is actually free, but I signed up for it and took some quizzes etc 6+ months ago and just got my first box. I'm not entirely sure how they pick who gets a box each month, but it's worth ten minutes of your procrastination to try! 

My goal for this month is to find a different monthly box thing to subscribe to so I can get rid of Birchbox but still get multiple goodies in the mail! Anyone have recommendations?!

Also.. if you get any of these, let me know your faves/thoughts!
