listen: 98 degrees' new song "microphone"

Y'all, get ready! 98 Degrees is back with a new single and they're all grown up and ready to talk about SEX!

Okay, they probably talked all about sex in the 90s too, but I was way too innocent to know such things. But like... this song... about "microphones," is a boy band version of Lollipop or Whistle. [It takes 12 seconds to start]

I'm not gonna sit here and tell you it's the best song ever because it's obviously not, but I DO like it! And I think it's better than most people/groups' comeback songs! Plus... it's dirty. Everyone likes a dirty song, even if it seems to be missing a couple lyrics.

Your thoughts?!

what ya wearin wednesday 032713

These posts are about you, so let's do it.

How CUTE are @joolree's bows?! That's it. I'm starting to wear bows in my hair all the time again.

I love the color and pattern contrasts of @eewerner's outfit!

Can I also tell you how obsessed I am with @jannashepherd's pants?! and heels, and blazer.. and shirt.

Newly added to my "need" list: @brittb128's printed pants and perfectly matching heels!

@cyrahh went a "little edgy," but I LOVE the combo with mint jeans! Perfect for the winter-spring transition.

@meeshkatz is also perfect for this chilly spring! I just love all of this.

@ktiedt was focused on the nom'ing with his throwback shirt

@BrookeRadio still bundled up a week into Spring! This isn't right, but it's cute!

@JenDBradley was showing off her grandmother's necklace and fun sparkly shoes!

@JaceBarrow once again looking clean and cute!

@xxkaleigh1dxx dressed her tank up, then dressed it down!

@showmewhytheycallyouruthless went for a run, and took a pretty sweet picture of her workout outfit!

@lnatiger shows off one of her many new LC shirts, which makes me jealous.

Anything with red pretty much wins me over, but I love how comfortable and classy @amsnedegar looks! Especially paired with Toms!

And @ksnedegar prettied up red pants with flowers and pearls!

Oh heyyy, pops of leopard print! Always a good idea, @jaclindsay!

As if the birdy print on @barelyaware's shirt wasn't cool, I'm sweatin' her shoes. They'd be so perfect with a dress or skirt! [PS I haven't said 'sweatin' in so long.. welcome back to be obnoxious vocab]

This is why I love statement necklaces. It totally makes @abaker1804's outfit pop!

Nothing better to wear on your birthday than a SOMBRERO [and a marg], like @siarrahhh! Happy belated!

@captainamandica was reppin' her favorite band, Bring Me The Horizon.

@Hope_hurst kept it comfy with a hoodie and printed shirt, and a side braid!

I'm trying to master the bright colors with grey jeans thing, but @KaciKruz got it with her bright coffee shirt!

I also have yet to figure out how to wear spring/summer dresses with leggings and boots, but apparently I should have @jennay_z come dress me!

As for me, I'm sticking with one of my clutches... leopard print [again]. I'm glad it's not still associated with Snooki.

-scarf from Charlotte Russe $5
-dress from Kohl's [it's like Mudd or some embarrassing brand, if I'm being honest] $10
-tights from Target $5
-boots from Steve Madden a gift, but originally $100.
-TOTAL: $20 or $120, depending on how awesome your grandmother is.

Because it was "hair" for our instagram challenge, I went a little fancy! I flipped my head upside down and braided upwards into a sock-bun! If you know how to french braid yourself, it's really not that hard.

And that, my friends, is another successful week! [As long as you forgive me for getting it up 11 hours late.] Thanks for playing with me! teehee.

elizabethany

PS: Never let your friends make fun of you for participating. They're just jealous of your hotness.

polls: how do you feel about real world portland and the premiere?!

It's back! Real World Portland just premiered, and since I haven't been doing chats anymore, I still want to know your immediate thoughts about the show!

Reflect on the episode and let me know what you think! Simple, first impressions of course!

Apparently four of them have shipped out to do the next challenge, and Jess had some drama with Laura from St. Thomas yesterday, but I will be doing podcasts again this season so send me any questions too!

comparing sample packages: birchbox vs. ipsy

For years I've been preaching to the world and my closest friend that Birchbox is the coolest thing since Clarissa.... but then I discovered ipsy.

I saw people hashtagging [is that really a word these days?] ipsy on random make-up posts on instagram, and decided to look further. Turns out, it's a service just like Birchbox, for the same price! [If you're clueless right now, you pay em $10 a month and they send you a package of goodies/samples!] Everyone seemed to be getting the same things though, as opposed to every Birchbox being different [as far as I can tell when I compare with my friends, anyway].

So obviously I had to sign up, try out a couple months, and make a decision on which one to keep paying for. And obviously I have to share it all with you!

First, the products. In two months of Birchbox, this is what I got:

[The packaging every month includes a cute little box with wrapped things inside, and a postcard to tell you about everything you're getting.]

2 samples of face cream, a little bottle of shampoo, a perfume sample, a little eyelash growing serum, and lip balm, I think, is the last thing.

A nail file, more shampoo, face mask, face serum, and BB cream.

When I first signed up for Birchbox, I still got a decent amount of face stuff or shampoo, but it wasn't nearly as much as I'm getting now. They did a good job of mixing in full-size nail polishes, lip glosses, eyeliners, etc. All of these I went on to buy after I ran out. Now that I'm getting these facial and hair samples, they go in a box and I use them when I travel and never think about them again. While it's fun to try new products, they're taking up room more than making me excited.

In three months of ipsy I got:

[The packaging is always a fun shiny pink, and the products always come in travel make-up bags! While I may not need a ton, they're great for gifts!]
Two eye shadow samples, make-up remover wipes, a moisturizing mist, and a compact mirror with room to hold the eye shadows.

More eye shadow samples, mascara, a face primer, lash card for the mascara, and gel eyeliner.

Awesome eyeliner brush that I've been using constantly [why it's not in the packaging], combination cuticle/hair serum, body butter, hairspray, and a full-size nail polish not pictured.

I really don't think I need to say this, but when it comes to the products you receive for $10, ipsy is winning hands-down right now.

As for the packaging, I don't think it's much of a competition either. Ipsy wins. The travel bags are genius. My only complaint with ipsy at this point is their lack of descriptions of the products. Sometimes I really have no idea how to use what I'm given, which is when Birchbox's little postcard comes in handy.

Beyond the products, looking at the company/offers as a whole, is the only time I really like Birchbox better. I love that you get points for referring people, and if they ever send out your box a little late, they reimburse you. The points can be used towards buying their products, which I've done a couple times.
Ipsy only gives you a discount for the products they send you each month, as far as I can tell. They have a "community" of people who post tips and such, but I never look into it anymore.

I feel so faithful to Birchbox, so if I'm being completely honest with you and myself, I'm not going to cancel it just yet. I have faith/hope that they're just in a bad time right now and will bounce back to the boxes I used to receive.

Obviously, I won't be canceling ipsy either though.. because that's the winner here.

If you wanna sign up for Birchbox, I'd love for you to click here/use my referral link! [They have one for dudes, too!]
If you wanna sign up for ipsy, click here!

If you're totally obsessed with these type of sites and have more money to spend or want something a little different, there's a long list of similar services right over yonder.

Enjoy the monthly gifts, cuz I definitely do!

love,
elizabethany

EDIT 5/14: Ipsy now has referral rewards! Right now they're offering an eyeshadow and bracelet if you get two people referred. If these offers keep happening, there's basically no reason to keep Birchbox over ipsy.

So help a girl out and get registered!

clarissa is getting a new novel!

With everyone freaking their freak about Girl Meets World, it's only right other things try to make some kind of a comeback.

While this one isn't nearly as exciting as GMW, it's pretty neat!

It's apparently true! She lied to us for so many years! Now she's 23 years old, has a career in journalism, and is writing a book about it! It shall be called "The Things I Can't Explain."

Okay, Melissa isn't, but the creator of the series is! It's due out by the end of next year and even though I don't read, I think I'll be obligated to pick up a copy. Maybe she'll have some new fashion advice for us all, too.

25 rumchata recipes to change your life

I said all over social media and my show last week that after hearing the Kane Show talk about Rumchata for months, I finally found some and tried it... and hott damn my life is changed forever.

I'm not normally into the sweet drinks. In fact, I normally keep it very fruity with straight up screwdrivers everywhere I go. Now Rumchata has opened up a whole new world of drinks.

It's just a liqueur, so it's not very strong, which makes it perfect for a mixer! You could absolutely drink an entire glass of it straight [it tastes like the milk of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, no lie], or you could spike it up a little.

Thanks to Pinterest, I got some ideas for recipes, but I'll also be trying some of my own.

Golden Graham shots will be happening in my life very soon.

Oh, a root beer float?! Count me in! Maybe with some added root beer vodka.

Campfire Delight martini: Van Gogh Dutch Chocolate Vodka, Creme de Cacao, Rumchata, Marshmallow Syrup and Cream, then top with Roasted Marshmallows

LOTS of ways to make a Rumchata martini!
Basically any sweeter kind of vodka can be added in! I mixed it 2 parts to 1 with maple syrup Burnetts and holy wet pants.

RumChata in hot chocolate! Or White Russians!

White Chocolate, Snickerdoodle Martini. Real life, this is liquid dessert.

RumChata bombs anyone?! This would absolutely work in favor of your tastebuds.

And then there's even food you could make...

RumChata pancakes, made with the Instant mix! Oh yes.

I've heard really good things about this RumChata French Toast.

Seriously, the possibilities are endless, and for me- the cinnamon makes it so what might normally be very sweet, isn't as serious.

If you've tried anything with it that is like OMG ORGASMIC, you gotta share with me, obvi!
