Today, tomorrow, and Saturday, I'm going to be in the hospital running the website for our Radiothon. [We're raising money for Children's Miracle Network, helping kids who are born super pre-mature. Feel free to check out all the work I'm doing and maybe even donate by clicking here.]
Because I won't have time to make full posts, I'm going to link to everything I see on Twitter etc. on my Facebook page.
Thanks for your patience! We'll be back to normal on Monday, with a podcast with Leroy!
Alright, I have some stuff to explain about tonight's chat.
It may or may not be happening on time. I have my final kickball tournament tonight, and we play until we lose! So, technically- I could be done at 7, or I could be done late tonight.
As soon as I am done, I will come straight home and launch the chat if I'm on time. If I miss a significant portion of the episode, I will plan on launching the chat during the second airing of the new episode. If no one shows up, of course I'll be sad, but I'll totally understand. If you'd like to wait, I'll love you forever.
No matter what, I will definitely be here ready to chat for one of the times, whether you are or not!
Hope to see you tonight! Jemmye mentioned coming to chat soon, so hopefully we'll be chatting with her in a few hours!
Also- I've been talking to Leeroy, and as soon as we can figure out a time good for both of us, he'll definitely be on podcast. Sorry for the delay, but sometimes it's out of my hands!
I think two of the biggest celebs I've talked to are also my two favorites. Raini and Rico Rodriguez are from Bryan, TX, which is the next town over from where I am now, and have stopped by my studio a few times now.
The first time we played Truth or Dare and had a lot of fun, but this time we talked all about Raini's movie that is premiering on Friday: Disney's "Prom."
To give away some prizes, we took calls on crazy prom stories. Some were typical, but some were very clever and the one we picked definitely had me shocked at the end. It was crazy.
I also caught up with Rico a little bit! He told me all the shows he's been making cameos and guest spots in [which I LOVE!!] and how he's staying busy. Plus: Raini is going to be starring in a new Disney Channel show!
We broadcasted the entire thing live on UStream and took a bunch of pictures, so if you want to see exactly how it all went down, click the pic below!
They're just too incredible for words. I love them and their family.
Everything about this event is pretty wrong. It's adults, stealing kids' toys, and doing exactly what their parents always said not to do: Race down a public street, with tons of people doing the same thing, and no helmet on.
Dangerous and exciting? Count EVERYONE in!
Check out the Big Wheel Demolition Derby that happens in San Francisco. [The interesting parts, anyway... AKA the crashes.]
Seriously.. CAN I PLAY?!? I want to wear pads, though... I'm not that big of a badass.
It's very 3 Doors Down. If you like them, you're bound to like this song. I don't understand why they're not in the same category of judging as Nickelback....?
Big Sean--> My Last
First of all- Love the video. Second- I like the song a lot, too.
Britney Spears ft. Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha--> Til the World Ends Remix
I mean... It's amazing. Duh.
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals--> Paris [Ooh La La]
This is a very different sounding song, especially for radio, but I totally dig it. Her voice is hott. Definitely give it a listen.
Katy Perry--> Last Friday Night [TGIF]
Get ready.. Katy Perry is taking over the summer again. EPIC Summertime song! Thanks for writing my theme song, chic.
3 Days Grace--> Lost In You
It has a little bit of a country sound to it, which I totally like. Mostly emo rock, but country is added in.
Cee-Lo Green--> Bright Lights, Bigger City
I LOVE this album. It's different, it's fun, and it's going to be fun to listen to while cruising the streets in the summertime. This song is one of the best on the album, for sure.
Rihanna--> Man Down
She's trying to take over the world, straight up. Song after song these days! This isn't one of my favorites she's done, especially recently, but I like that she has her Barbados sound shining through.
Thompson Square--> I Got You
I enjoy them. I enjoy this.
David Adam Byrnes--> She Only Wanted Flowers
Ya know... I wish I coulda sent this song to a certain someone a few months ago. I for sure enjoy it and the lyrics.
Hunter Hayes--> Storm Warning
Apparently this [kid?] guy is opening for Taylor Swift a bunch this year. He's a cutie with an innocent voice that's pretty soothing. We'll have to see what else he brings to the table.
Soul Circus Cowboys--> Love is Like a Rodeo
It reminds me of something, but I can't figure out what! It's a pretty typical loud, rodeo, country song.
And that does it for this week! [Don't miss out on D-Why's new song, though!] I think I like them all at least a little bit, so ENJOY!
I'm trying really hard to be stylish and stuff these days, but sometimes I'm just plain nerdy. So when I tell girls that I really want these rings in my life, they're probably going to give me the same look they always do.
Check out these "Signs" jewelry pieces!
Personally, I LOVE emoticons. What would text messages be without them?! If I couldn't send a :) after a bitchy comment, everyone would think I was a huge B all the time! With a :), they'll totally think I'm flirting or something.
And yes, I totally dig it when guys use them, too. Example: If I say "come over or call me in a bit," and he responds with "ok :)," that means he's happy to do so. If it's just "ok," I feel like I'm pressuring him.
ANYWAY, now we'll get off that tangent. I just think they're totally adorbs and I want one. Problem is: They're definitely $185, for some odd, unknown reason.
Maybe my dad can make me one to "match" my Twitter necklace. Fingers crossed.
I've known D-Why for a few years now [he's a fellow Mountaineer and even won Homecoming King, HOLLA!], he's been featured on my "Local Limelight" about a year ago, but for whatever reason he's bojangled on getting an interview/feature on this site!
He's not bojanglin' when it comes to his hustle, though. I'm pretty proud of him, really.
I was ESPECIALLY proud when I saw this video. It's just really good. ANYONE will like it because even I like this song.. and it takes more than just someone who can spit a rap for me to like their "underground" song. [Yes, even if it's a friend of mine, I'm not going to share their music with you if I think it blows.]
Anyway, check it out! He's gone from Morgantown to NYC and he's KILLIN' IT. Can't wait to see it when he really takes off.
He's a crazy guy who's got a lot to let out into the world. Check out more of his stuff and show him some love! I already saw some people sharing this on Facebook and I have no idea how they know him, but I'll take full credit I'm not mad about it.
It's going to be a VERY crazy week for me, and I can't believe it's only Monday. Ya know those days where you feel like you got a lot done, but have nothing to show for it? Yeah. Welcome to my day.
I did have a pretty good show, though. I've been putting more effort into preparing for my show and making sure I have things to talk about, so I hope you're listening and enjoying!
Here are today's podcasts [and the entire channel, in case you're bored!], along with today's Hollywood Minute.
I've been getting a lot of interesting "impressions" from people when I meet them lately. It's a given that everyone you meet is going to say "you look nothing like you sound!" when you work in radio, but I always ask what they expected. Lately I've been getting "fat, black, jaded, old, single mom, innocent..." to name a few.
Either I'm doing something wrong, or they have the wrong show.
I decided to ask them to text in their imaginary EB's, and these are some of the answers I got:
I couldn't stop laughing or dropping my jaw at some of them. All-American innocent girl?! Overweight tan brunette?! Oh dear.
I'll be whatever you want me to be, listeners... As long as you love me.
"Totally Sketch" on YouTube definitely has a long list of quality videos, but this one is the latest to catch my attention.
Guys... After all your complaining about life... We have the perfect solution for you- A GIRLFRIEND! "Now you'll never have to worry about bothersome silence again."
I mean, do girls REALLY annoy you guys that much?! PFFT. Doubtful! There's nothing but joy that we could bring to your life!
Okay, even I know that's not true. Hence why that was so fantastic. Bravo!
I think my heart stopped in excitement when I saw that #welcometotheDMV was trending and it wasn't talking about Department of Motor Vehicles. I felt like I was home again, but homesick at the same time.
When I started reading the tweets, I realized just how ghetto gangstaaa my home really is. It was N-bomb this, bitch that, mi$sp3ll!ng$ everwhere... Embarrassing.
Most of it was people bonding and RTing things that really aren't something to be proud about, yet they were excited. I understand bonding over a common enemy is sometimes the best kind, but they were acting like this stuff was good!
Anyway, I still take a LOT of pride in saying I'm from the DMV, and there were some quality, 100% truth tweets that I saw while I was looking. Here are some of the "best":
There are SO MANY that I could have thought of that people weren't getting, but I try not to piss off all my followers, so I'll just point you in the direction of one of my favorite lists of all times--> You know you're from Northern Virginia if...
If you're not from the DMV [DC, MD, VA], I hope we didn't scare you off. While most of it was probably true, we didn't exactly sell any of the good stuff.
Ever think you've caught the coolest fish ever? Probably not. This lady caught the biggest goldfish you'll ever see.
Okay, so my coworkers say that it's some kind of fish in the same family as goldfish, but WHO CARES ABOUT TECHNICALITIES?!
In the news report, the lady said "she got skills" that helped her catch it. Right on, girl! Now you've become the latest news story overnight sensation.
I'm supposed to be playing in my last kickball game of the season tonight, but this is an important episode!! Let's chat, talk ish, do polls, and watch the show together! It's bound to be a crazy one tonight, as usual!
I've decided to take a different approach from here on out. If I like a song, I'll put it in a "LIKE" pile on the post. If I don't like it, well, it either won't even get posted, or it'll get put in the "Decide for yourself" pile. Let me know if you like this new way of TOT!
LIKE. Get. Now.
Aubrey O'Day--> Automatic [I know, this is surprising for me too. It's annoying, but way too catchy.]
Chris Brown--> She Ain't You [It's very modern Michael Jackson to me for some reason.]
David Guetta ft. Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida--> Where Dem Girls At
Jordan Knight--> Let's Go Higher
David Cook--> The Last Song [Definitely a David Cook song, and even though this is very American Idol-rock, I dig it.]
Lloyd Banks ft. Jeremih--> I Don't Deserve You
Akon ft. Chris Brown--> Take It Down Low
Keri Hilson ft. Nelly--> Lose Control [I enjoy this combo a lottt!]
Decide for yourself... but I say no thanks.
Lady Gaga--> Judas
Seether--> Country Song [Definitely not my kind of song]
KeKe Wyatt ft. Ruben Studdard--> Saturday Love [Woah Ruben, the stranger.. I can't decide where this belongs. She sings well, but the song is meh..]
Sunny Sweeney--> Staying's Worse Than Leaving
I can dig it. Her voice is amazing, but it's enjoyable for sure. The lyrics hit a bit close to home.
Billy Currington--> Love Done Gone
A little unexpected and intense in the beginning, but it has me jammin' in my bed right now so I can't complain. Get it.
Rodney Atkins--> Take a Back Road
Maybe I'm in a good mood, but all of this country music is fantastic this week. This obviously counts in such an opinion.
Sugarland--> Tonight
It seems like a pretty powerful song. It's not slow, it's not fast, it's a song that could definitely cross-over if it wants to, and I wouldn't mind. Wouldn't expect it to be a single, but Sugarland can do no wrong in my eyes.
Terri Clark--> Northern Girl
Holy crap, there's a country song about a northern girl. It's like my anthem! I dig it. I wish it was a tad better, but I'm not going to lie- I will blast this song in my car regularly.
That's all for tonight! Enjoy and let me know how you feel about the new "format"!
Since filming the Real World: DC, Mike has been the one cast member making serious moves towards a real career. He makes me pretty jealous, to be honest. He even hosted the red carpet during awards season!
One of his projects: Starring in small feature films, such as eCupid.
It was set to release in February, but as far as I can tell [until I talk to him], it looks like it's a little delayed. Either way, the movie looks like it's going to be a genuinely good movie.
It looks like a very gay-community-driven movie, but so what?! What matters in the movie is the story, the characters, and the entertainment, and call me crazy, but this looks pretty damn good!
I'm really proud of Mike and even more excited to see this finished product. I'm sure we all are! So here's to him and being able to say "I loved him way back when."
If you know me IRL, you probably know something about my fetish with water. I'm obsessed with pools, beaches, and especially hot tubs... And yeah, you can let your mind wander right now.
I found this list of 10 awesome underwater places, and now I've added some more things and places to my bucket list.
Elevator at the AquaDom in Berlin. I would never leave it.
Serpent Slide at Atlantic Paradise. Then slide/ride goes through a shark infested lagoon for all you "thrill-seekers!"
Jules' Underwater Lodge in Key Largo, Florida. You legitimately have to dive down into the water to get into this lodge, relax, and just watch the underwater world.
Poseidon Undersea Resort in Fiji. If you have the $15,000 to spend, they'll give you two nights stay in this underwater resort and even give you a submarine to use whenever you'd like. Plus- All the walls are windows.
Hotel Conrad Rangali Island Maldives. The pictures sell it. Hellooooo, honeymoon.
Seriously... I can't even explain the amazingness I feel inside when I imagine staying in these places. Sugar Daddy, seriously, WHERE YOU AT?!
Tomorrow is 4/20, and although I would never condone celebrating such a holiday...... I found this pretty hilarious bucket list for stoners everywhere.
Click the pic for more; My faves are below.
Build a giant “Scooby Doo”-esque sandwich
Paint or draw a picture while high
Watch five classic stoner movies in one sitting
Have sex while high
Combine three “classic” stoner foods to form a Megazord snack
I kind of love Tyler Perry. Ever since my life coach BFF told me to sit down and watch all of the movies, I've become slightly obsessed with them.
He joined Ellen for the first time [which should be a crime! WHY has he not been on before?!] yesterday to talk about his hard times growing up and his advice for everyone.
"If people are telling you what you're not or what you can't be... You can be whatever you want to be, even if it's your mother or father telling you that."
The best part of the entire interview is the end, though.. Hands down. Ellen introduces her character for the family, and it will have you in tears.
PLEASE, Tyler Perry PLEASE!!! Let Ellen be what she wants to be and put her in one of your movies! Dear sweet baby Jesus I wouldn't be able to handle all the laughing.. IN A GOOD WAY!
I'm all about saving money and not spending even a dollar on something little or something that won't be used, but I'm also all about giving yourself small gifts. I also love getting things in my mailbox.
Ladies, if you've never heard of "BirchBox," you need to check it out.
For the past couple months, I've been paying $10/month and receiving a fun little gift in the mail. It's a cute little box filled with 5 or 6 samples of different beauty products, wrapped up nicely and tied with a bow. It even comes with a note to explain everything I'm getting!
I've gotten anything from Bare Minerals mascara, to Stila lip gloss, some face wipe stuff that almost instantly made me tan without looking fake, lotion, masks, some awesome all natural chapstick, and tons more. It's a lot of products that I haven't heard of, but am falling in heart with.. and I could buy, if I had the money to do so. [Woops. Let's hope they don't cancel me for this...]
This month I got this awesome piece of handmade paper that can be planted into the ground for it to grow into flowers! REAL LIFE! I also got some nail polish, a moisturizing peel, Zoya nail polish, body butter, and a perfume sample!
It's a cheap monthly bill, and it's an awesome day when you get this unknown present in the mail. It's kinda like a secret admirer is sending you some love.
I love it, and I really think you would do! Dooo ittttt.
It's been a long time since I've found something seriously amazing that I need someone to buy like, ASAP. Now the long time we've waited has been worth it.
I introduce to you, JUNDERPANTS.
Forget jeggings, these are the new shiznit and make jeggings and jean pajamas look like NBD.
Boys- Apparently these diddies help lift up the package to show it off to the ladies, and they're so stretchy that they're rather comfortable.
And don't you worry... You can get them for a STEAL! $61!! [Okay, that's hardly a "steal," but I'm SURE it's worth it!]
Buy them. Now. Take pics. Send to me. Kthanks.
love, elizabethany
PS: For the record, if I ever pull down your pants and see these, expect me to laugh. Loudly. Uncontrollably. For a long time.
Now she's got her own show on VH1 [even though no one will pick up LC's.. dumb] premiering this weekend, and we have an extended trailer.
She lost me after talking about how big of a celebrity she is. That's not cool. You're famous for looking good and being emotional- don't sit here and call yourself a celebrity. We know what you are.
Her mom makes the family dysfunctional, so maybe that'll be interesting, just like all the Housewives... but other than that it doesn't look like a show I'll be needing to keep up with every day. I'd probably rather watch the Kardashians.
I'll give it a chance, but I definitely don't like her after the looks of that trailer.
I've obviously seen my fair share of pretty awesome tumbling in my day... And each year it's like the skills get harder and harder! The things people do these days would never have been IMAGINED when I was competing.
THIS guy is breaking the mold. I don't know anyone who could do this, and I know some crazy mofo'ing tumblers.
At first I thought, "okay, cool..." Then it got real. Really real. So real, it was unreal.
It's time for People's annual "Most Beautiful People" issue!
This year's winner isss....
Jennifer Lopez! [I can't even be mad about this. She is freaking beautiful.. And maybe looking better than ever in these pictures.]
As much as she may have complained about American Idol not being her ultimate comeback move, she better look again. She's back and beautiful because of that show.
Still, in the article she talks about being a mom and how that look makes her feel the best.
"That's when I'm my happiest. Just being able to touch my face and rub my eyes and put my fingers in my hair and not having to worry about messing it up. It's so much better."
WORD, girl. I agree on that part.
She also had something to say about her "diva" reputation:
"I kind of like it. We've kind of owned it now. But I certainly don't like and I've never been a person who has what they call 'diva behavior,' which is something they tried to pin on me for a long time."
Yeah... I don't know if I believe you, but we'll go with it!
Check out some of the other beautiful People:
"You’re a human being, you live once and life is wonderful, so eat the damn red velvet cupcake." -Emma Stone
"I identify as a comedy writer, so to get compliments on appearance, that's the nicest compliment – to be shallow!" -Mindy Kaling
"One of the greatest luxuries I am afforded is a solid eight hours every once in a while!" -Jennifer Hudson
"There's no way to hide them as much as you want to bandage your boobs down. Now I can make my way in and out of parking tickets: Show the girls and give a wink!" -Jessica Simpson
"I don't want anybody thinking it's easy. It does take time and it's hard work. HDTV wide-screen is nobody's friend!" -Jennifer Lopez
"I think it's important to remember to live in the moment and enjoy every day to the fullest." -Zac Efron
"We're trying to nationalize Sexy. Sort of like Medicare." -Ryan Reynolds
"My mother always said, 'Be original!' but I didn't understand until I changed to be like everyone else." -Sandra Bullock
I can't help but notice that a lot of these people were pictured in magazines for being beautiful in the 90s... YAY! I also can't disagree with any of these choice. People- you did good. Real good.
